[Guide] Avoid buying 'Duplicate' High Rank Paint (fully-mued version)

After a lot of study and checking in battles, there are some definite guide on how to avoid paints with almost duplicate protections,

since paint is not upgradable, it is advisable not to buy expensive paint at too early rank, those 200k+ crystal paints need more consideration even from Major rank,

For example, even now you are able to buy rustle paint, and emerald paint is too far from u, it is advisable to think wise before u get rustle, since later u found u need to buy emerald, the rustle get mostly not much use to u after u got emerald.

[topic=http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=212283]Fun Fact About JADE and NEEDLE

==================================================

Let us view paints from Top to Bottom instead what you can buy now.

It is important to plan to Generalismo rank even at Major rank for paints, because once you reached Generalismo and micro-upgrade few steps of paint parameters, a lot of them are look the same, like Jade and Needle as link in above.

  * The more expensive, The more protection, The more option to Get triple 50% protection,

  * Micro upgrade is more useful focusing on 1 paint to 50% instead spreading mu on several paints max-ed at 30-40%

  * at End of Generalismo, it is all about top 9 paints with full microupgrade, so dont waste crystal on mu middle rank paints.

  * micro upgrade cheap 1 protection paint (like tundra) to 40%+ is more economic than middle rank paints

  * if you already sure about your main combo and main protection, it good to save for the best paint from start, and save the micro upgrade crystal for the ultimate paint goal

  * based on statistics and mu sale (50% no speed up.), it is averagely 100k crystal cost to micro upgrade and get one of protections to 50% (as long as paint allows, and that is the paint u should save for), so buy prodigi at 100k discount at early rank is about the same to buy Clay at 120k and add 100k for 50% rail protection mu.

Thunder, Rail, Rico Triple Protection:

Clay MU <====== [ replaces ] Prodigi (digital) + Emerald (Rustle)

120k+100k + 100k ---------------- 100k ------------------ 70k

Freeze, Fire Protection (bonus with option Smoky, discussed later)

Zeus MU <======= [replace ] Inferno + Loam

120k + 100k -----------------------  70k  --------- 50k

Smoky, Shaft Protection (bonus with rico)

Needle MU <====== [replace] Jade

100k + 100k ------------------------ 80k

Twins, Isida Protection (bonus with freeze)

Rock MU <======= [replace] Irbis, Urban

100k + 100k <============ 70k

4-protection Paints that got no Top paint replacement

Prodigi, Taigo

2-Protection Paint that got no Top paint replacement (MU 30%+50%)

Winter (50k) ------------- Thunder, Shaft

Savanna (65k) ---------- Rail, Smoky

==================================================

Note:

1 protection 50% paint or paint under Major is not for this discussion, since on Generalismo rank battle, has only 1 protection is not easy to survive, and having at least 2 heavy protection is always better than 1.

they are good for early ranks, but after Major rank, it starts to get important to save early and dont waste crystal (especially for non-buyers like me :P ), since you also saving for your 1st set of M3s.

Nice guide wild, This guide is pretty helpful for high ranks!

thanks, I made mistake before as well,

I spent 70k for inferno, and mu-ed around 40k for 46% freeze and 41% fire protection, using on my hornet m3.

I wish I could bought zues at start, if add back the crystal i spent, i could get zues with 50% fire, 41% freeze and 25% smoky. much better than 15% twins from inferno

Erm, micro-upgrades?

2-Protection Paint that got no Top paint replacement (MU 30%+50%)

Winter (50k) ------------- Thunder, Shaft

Savanna (65k) ---------- Rail, Smoky

How is Savanna not replaceable if you can buy Needle with similar, but more powerful protection?

How is Savanna not replaceable if you can buy Needle with similar, but more powerful protection?

tell me a paint that have 40% smoky protection and have more than 20% railgun.

By the way, i think emerald is an endgame paint. twins and thunder are the most used guns in deathmatches and no other paint protects from both. also emerald is unlocked way earlier and is cheaper to MU's.

Anyway, my target is to get Fully micro upgraded clay. is the best paint in my opinion.

i mean modification like M1, M2, M3, and not all paints can be mu-ed to multiple 50% protection, there is a limit of mu for each paint.

Savana with mu can have 50% smoky and 36% railgun protection,

needle has 50% smoky, 50% shaft, 40% rico,

by in practise, they are targeted for different user, savana for small map and defender, while needle for large map and attacker.

so they are not like relationship of rustle and emerald, which main target is thunder.

-----------------------------------

and I agree, the guide line is not 100% strict seperation, by as a guide for choosing the paint,

different users have different enemy in mind, the health of hull also determine the direction of choosing a high protection paint or multiple protection paint.

long range attackers main care less about twins, fire and freeze, but more care to thunder smoky

short range slow attackers may care more about long range protection,

short range faster attachers may care more about both long range and short range.

but the main guide is about get which top paint as main goal.

talking about the best paints, you have only a few choiches. zeus for low range, clay for medium range and picasso for long. you will hardly need any other paint

I strongly disagree. Have you ever been in a random generalissimos only battle?

Well i'd like to have prodigi, rock and savanna/needle as well...IMO, prodigi is far more effective than picasso, as 20% freeze is nothing and shafts are rare than rail...also once get higher rank, u'll crave for a >40% smoky protection...

smoky is key to destroy mass amount of prodigi, picasso, clay paint users,

one you see those top paint, you will wish your team has a smoky.

Hey Wild, in your opinion, which paint proved to be most effective in battle? Clay or Zues? (I'm planning like you recommended) Nice post by the way :D

heavy tank, zues is better.

fast tank, clay is better

defender tank with isida near by, clay is better

defender tank alone in base with lots of walls (like silence), zues is better

defender tank alone in base with open area (like kurgur), clay is better

long range attacker, clay better

short range attacker, clay better

based on my experiences in lots of battles.

Nah, Zeus is better for short range attacker.

if in silence enemy base, zeus is better

if in kurgur enemy base, clay will help u escape from rail and thunders that keeping a distance.

map blocks coverage matters, and of course, the enemy base defenders,

but since the smart cool down, all thunder rail long range weapon has a far chance using double power than short range weapons.

the threat from long range weapons increased a lot

Ok, fair point. But most short range attackers stick to small maps, don't they? Which is why I thought Zeus

i agree, sandbox has a lot of fire, freeze, smoky, most likely zeus make it win,

of course, i sometimes see isida, rico, rail, thunder combination as well in sandbox. so hard to say,

but on island map, freeze, twin and isida on mamothom are most common ones.

small maps still have a difference for different cases
