Interview with   gPMFS13.png @MarineMan2

: Hellooo Tankers! Today we will meet Tanki's one of the most renowned ex-consultant and forum moderator, @MarineMan2!

Welcome Marine! Dearly sorry for yours and your colleagues loss over the Consultants. How did you find this game? Where are you from? When'd you got into stuff?

@MarineMan2: Well hey, and thanks for having me. Firstly, to clear up a bit of who I am and what has made me who I am today... I found out about Tanki by browsing Miniclip.com looking for cheap little games to pass the time. I got bored to the point where I decided to go to the multiplier section, and just fool around with making some fake accounts (as at the time I didn't have an e-mail, and knowing that was the last thing the game would force me to give before making an account, was my e-mail). So about two years ago, as I file through the games, just goofing around, I run by Tanki. I fool around with a few names, and eventually settle on "Marineman". I click join... and it loads a whole account! I was thinking, "What??? A game that doesn't want my money... or to harass me by bombarding me in e-mails for some pay-to-win game!" Through some confusion, I decided to make three accounts; Marineman, MarineMan2, and MarineMan3. I, such as any player new to the game, got excited even over the smallest things. I was especially excited to acquire the ever envied Viking, Freeze combo, which at least in my rank and day, was something really nice to have on nearly any mid to small sized map. At that point though, I wasn't even aware that this game existed beyond Miniclip, nor that there was a forum (which is somewhat ironic considering that I'm presently a Forum Moderator    :D). I learned of the forum, and of the game site. I grew to become what, at least I'd consider, to be a relatively skilled player. Now that I was a good player, the next step was having good interactions, and the solution that; getting out there in the community.

I'm from the United States, and proud of it! More specifically, I live in New England, where the Maple syrup is good, and the skiing is better.

I became interested in the staff... about a year ago I'd say, and since then I've been constantly working to ensure that I'm chipping in my part in this community.

: Lolz nice. Had you applied for other jobs? How did you react when you got into one for the first time?

@MarineMan2: Every position I have ever applied for, I have always been accepted, though in some cases, I ended up having to turn down the offer at a later point due to some of my personal life circumstances. Though my first staff job that I ever applied for was the Consultants position. I was but a wee little nub, and had grand aspirations. Issho helped me through everything, and did so with intense patience, even when at the time I made quite a few grammatical errors. My knowledge of computers and the game was already rather vast, and his mentoring only made it the greater. Approximately three weeks after submitting my application, I was accepted as a Candidate Consultant. I worked hard and well, trying raise my post count from an absolute zero, and hopping the in-game chats. One day approximately a month later... I awoke, like any other morning, popped on Skype to check for any important new messages, and FBI contacted me saying he had a surprise... I told him I had to go, but we could speak about it later that evening. This was strange, because at the time I had only spoken with Issho, and FBI had been a little inactive at the time, and I'd really only spoken with him in our Consultants chat. And here I was being spontaneously contacted... so, later that day, I get on the forum to deal with the usual rounds, and suddenly realize I have an avatar, and I go into the game, and I have the exclusive Microchip paint! I was thrilled, and wanted to jump for joy! Unfortunately, I wasn't really in the environment for such things at the time... so the stupid grin plastered on my face looked pretty ridiculous.    :D

Yes, as you've heard, the Consultants have been removed from Tanki. I was indeed saddened by this, but understood the logic of it. The members who were Consultants moved to other jobs, such as; Chat Moderator, Forum Moderator, and Facebook Moderator. As three of the Consultants were already Forum Moderators, once the position was removed, most of them became Chat Moderators excluding one who broke away from the trend and became an FB Mod.   :) Now Chat Moderators, who in my opinion had the most in common with Consultants, spend more time to communicate with players, such as the way Consultants used to.

: So, cool! Now, look what you made me! Jealous!    :D Are you in any clan whatsoever? What is your favourite combination in the game?

@MarineMan2: I have only been in one clan, "Death Dealers", and that certainly was a really fun experience for me. Though we may have not been the most skilled, we were the most fun, and the team got along well. I really ended up investing myself in that clan, and even went so far as to design; a website, Google+ Page, Twitter, YouTube account, and a program that only members understood how to use so I could keep track of who was active and who was not. The website was in development, and early stages, but for a start, I think it was looking pretty nice: Death Dealers.

Well, I used to be a devote Thunder, Viking user with Emerald paint. Actually, when presented the opportunity, I bought the M2 Medium Kit (which has since been removed), and consistently used that. Now some would say that kit buyers were total noobs who used supplies far too frequently, but I actually became honestly skilled with that combination. Though do take note, when I do drug, I don't do so in a noob-ish manner, I prefer to do it like this... Supplies Tutorial Contest winners announced! Check out who got first place in that one, haha. Upon winning that I had my Prodigi paint fully MUed and it has served me well with these awesome stats: Prodigi. Though recently I've found myself incredibly attracted to Hammer. A turret that when I first saw it, I expected a pretty low quality outcome, or rather one that wouldn't be able to integrate into the game easily. Though to my pleasant surprise it has, and now I think of it as my mid to close range Thunder.    :D

: Wow. Will you tell us about the program you use to track your clan members?

@MarineMan2: It took a while, but thankfully didn't require any coding (which by the way I am presently learning). I used Google Forms, and Google Spread sheets, and through a little customization and browsing the settings carefully and thoroughly, I set up a little Form. Nearly all of the complexities behind this only regard the way I access and view the content in order to analyze and graph.

: What it felt like to be a consultant and how'd you describe it?

@MarineMan2: Being a Consultant... Doesn't give you an overwhelming sense of power, but authority. You have to be careful not to confuse the two. The authority is really more about... Knowing your words are powerful, and recognized. Being a national essay winner myself, along with multiple outstanding English related achievements, I've grown to appreciate the power of knowledge and those who can articulately express their thoughts. In the case of being a Consultant, I got to help players with a variety of issues ranging from "Can you please tell Semyon I want to be his BESTY FRIEND???" to "Player: I can't log into my main account. Me: what's the username of your main account? Player: This is my main account." *facepalm*

Haha, working through rough English sometimes was hard, since I became used to speaking naturally at such an "advanced" level. It was nice to be able to deal with small chat violations with a five minute ban, though more commonly a warning. This way things remained very personal, and there wasn't too high a tension about anything.
