Once again, the AWS has been quite active. With a plethora of different types of articles varying from guides, interviews and about 15 different stories, it seems that it's once again time to look at the best in the section, the usual news and whatnot.

Top 5 Articles of the Month

Once again, we had a lot of quality articles put in this month. And again, these articles are not in any order, since Pdox and I couldn't decide on what order they should be in.

1.) The Rebalance: Biggest Winners and Losers
by: @Jwimmer

We have all heard about it, and we all have our own opinions. Without a doubt, the rebalance take II is the biggest update in the past few years. However, the tables of numbers are incredibly challenging to sort through, and not worth the time to read as of right now. So, I decided to do some of the work for you, and compile a completely objective list and explanation of the biggest winners and losers of this update. I will start with the hulls and then get into the turrets. For all analysis, I will be looking solely at the M3 stats, to reduce confusion.

bigtimerush_bry: A well-written review to the recent balance (at the time of writing) taking a new idea that added another layer to the articles written by Goldnug and myself. The return of Jwimmer marks why he is a distinguished member.

DestroyerPdox: I have one word for this article: Outstanding. This was probably the best article published in the AWC this month, but ran a close finish with 'The Silver Clock'.

2.) The Silver Clock
by @Blackdrakon30

My silver colored clock is ticking. My phone charging. Someday the phone will die. Thinking too much is the greatest strength anyone could have, despite it also becoming their greatest weakness. Some days we need to run our race hard, like we want to win. The road is not an easy one. You must shape your phrases like you mean them. Every single hour in history is hinged on the words “I am….”, “Let’s make….” or “Let there be….”. The latter brings the basic forms into existence, and its partner alters them. The most powerful words in the universe are “I Am”. It is the epitome of thought. We may be silent, but when these words are spoken the matter of reality is shifted. It precedes every mighty decision of our lives, it changes who everyone is, and chooses how we impact other

Bry: The only September article on out list deserves its due recognition. A very thought provoking and interesting article, Drakon continues to prove his writing skills to anyone and everyone who reads his works. If you, for some reason, haven't read this yet, I guarantee you will not be disappointed in the article.

Pdox: Once again, Drakon shows just how beautifully he can write and then churn it into various depths to meet his perspectives. Feeling bored? Read 'The Silver Clock' right now!

3) The Golden Toy
by @F.I.N.I.S.H.E.R

I was away from my monotonous college life attending a local conference last weekend. The theme of this con was a question- "Who Am I?". A very simple question put forward in three small words. Recently, one of my middle school friends buzzed me stating the importance of constant introspection in our lives. Intriguing. Definitely kept me thinking for a couple of days. So seriously, who the hell are we? What the hell are we doing on this planet? Here is my perspective.

Click here for some serious self-inspection

Bry: An article that successfully had me question my life choices and how I was using what I had. As another philosophical article joins the podium, we question who we are and what we are doing about it. There really isn't a way to describe, you have to experience it yourself.

Pdox: After reading his first article, 'A Letter That Traveled Through Time', I had my cursor on the 'Approve' button all along when I was reading this article. The halfway mark was enough for me to approve this. Amazing - keep it up!

4) WIP Full Story
by

The robot was coming. Jason knew that much. The real question was whether he would be able to stall it out long enough so that the rest of his friends – friends, not “squad”, “team”, or even “allies” – could escape the military structure, taking valuable information with them, albeit with one less team member. The entire Order would appreciate the Intel, and no doubt Jason’s family would receive much-needed financial benefits, along with the others sent to retrieve it.

Click here to enjoy a very well written article

Bry: The return of Abbadoom brings us another one of his signature stories. An interesting plot and believable characters all create this beautiful amalgamation of story...ness.

Pdox: The return was imminent. But a return with this kinda' story? An exceptional job!

5) Meltdown: Intricate Darkness
by @Penguin40

It’s a dark room. Or rather, the scene has been blackened.
“Your task, is to invade him. Destroy him from the inside. Make him expose himself. Make him surrender. Be careful, for you’re playing with the Perfect Criminal. But make sure he does expose himself at some time or another. We really need him out, so go, do it,” a voice said.

“Affirmative. And you all need to portray shock, not delight. Else he’ll realize it,” another voice replied.

“And don’t forget, your true task is to destroy the criminal within him. Save the good man within him. Save his conscience. Bring the great man back from within him,” the original voice said again.

Bry: Penny once again graces us with another part of his incredible yet fairly underappreciated Meltdown series. The series is masterfully continued and, in typical Penguin style, leaves us on a cliffhanger.

Pdox: I have always enjoyed reading Penny's article. This one was no less than a masterly-crafted woodwork. I am eagerly waiting for the next installment.

Amateur Writing Club News:

Our recent project, Project Perspective, received lackluster support. We hope to improve the projects, and we are currently circulating ideas. Stay tuned.

And on a sadder note, we regret to announce that out friend, reporter and fellow AWC alumni @tweezers will be leaving us. We will all (hopefully) miss him as he moves on to bigger and better things, such as real life, whatever that is. I entreat you to spam him with goodbye messages. We will all miss his nugginess and his help with the flood in the spam chat, something I doubt any of us could ever replace. So a warm farewell to our good friend, pliers.

And that is all we have for this Issue. Keep up the good writing work, and feel free to flood the AWS; we look forward to this next month.

Wheeew! Made the top articles! It seems all of my pictures on the forum have disappeared, and I suspect it is because tiny pic is down. If tiny pic isn't back up in a few days, I will reupload the pics in my article through imgur.

Also, congrats to the other top article writers.

As they looked upon the bleak, white emptiness of the chat, interspersed with a few half hearted attempts at conversation, they remembered a better day, when the message count numbered the thousands, rather than hundreds. A messenger came panting through the office, and handed a sleek gray envelope. Inside was a paper of the same hue, with a few words and a simple motif printed on it. Mutely, it was handed around the AWC organizers, with each persons face mirroring his or her companions with wonder as they read the contents.

Spam is coming. I shall return.

And underneath it, a printed image of a pair of tweezers.

On a side note, grats everyone! I thought everyone did a really nice job with articles this time around (Prolly because there were 2 months to collect good ones), and I say everyone should give themselves a pat on the back. I do highly advise anyone to read any of the listed articles; all are quite worth your time.  :P
