[Issue 4] Guide: Quests (TWG)

Quests are often held in the Tanki Newspaper. However, most often the same players win - the ones with the abilities of cryptic thinking. So today, I'll be giving you a guide on winning quests -  from developing cryptic thinking to viewing the quest from a quest creator's perspective.

Decoding the Clues

Firstly, pay attention to the clue! At first the clue may seem weird, but if you pay attention, it seems so easy that you might be laughing at its ease! For example, look at this clue:

This place has treasures of gold worth millions of dollars! Just find that here: IS 14, TankX Debating Society, Tanki Forum, Tanki Online Perm, Russia.

When this clue is seen for the first time, it looks weird. But did you notice anything weird? First, TankX. That clearly hints to Tanki X. "Debating Society" tells that it's located in the Discussion forum, whatever its name. But where in the forum? "IS" seems like a codename, and it is. Ideas and Suggestions. Rang any bell? That's right, the 14th post in the Tanki X Ideas and Suggestions topic.

If you've solved that early, you have good enough cryptic thinking abilities. But wait! There's more! The final clue which leads to the keyword? Don't you have to solve THAT too? Without the keyword, you can't solve the quest at all!

So here's a final clue hiding a keyword:

AHH! This place is so dark and so dangerous! Even pro XP/BPers must hate this place when it's dark. But when it's light, it's a fearsome battlefield and training ground for aspiring XP/BPers and a true challenge to duelists!

Did "training ground" ring any bells? What map is the training ground for most XP/BPers? Of course, Sandbox CTF! If you solved that too, then congratulations! You have amazing logical skills! But wait, there's yet more!

What if you cannot solve a quest using what I told? Maybe you need to view the quest from the quest maker's perspective. How? Obviously, everyone has different thoughts. But what would you do if you were the quest maker? Using what you would do, try solving the clue. Here's an example:

Issues are what we are waiting for. That is, 43 Photos.

Weird, isn't it? But think like me. What do you think I'll lead this to? What will you lead this to? The obvious answer is: Tanki Newspaper Issue 43, Photo Contest. If you shared my thought, congratulations! You are a good mind hacker!

So use these tips in quests and apply them in real life too. I hope you learnt something from this guide.   :)

Excellent guide, Pen :)

dzienzki

(WAT? The most liked topic in Issue 4? K)

(and if you're wondering what the word I used in the spoiler is, it's Polish for "thanks". )

It's "dzięki" not "dzienzki".

The most liked and least replies topic in Issue 4.

Weird :P.

Nice guide. I've heard/figured out these things before, but when reading what you wrote I understood straight away. I figured out the last two puzzle things without much effort, but I was lazy with the first, and read on. Implementing those made it fun reading.

I wonder how you do those tricky clues/riddles because they're so hard to understand before I continue reading

Dat's the trick, pay attention to the clue and think like me. To test you all one last time, another clue:

Copycats, successful ones. Well, these are nice writers, they finished 4Is, successful enough nubs.
