A Day Out in the Forest

Hunting was an abode, a hobby of mine and it runs in my family. My favourite hulls to hunt are Wasp and Hornet as they are a bit of a challenge and I love challenges. I loved hunting and hiking as it was only that time when I have time alone all by myself. I’ve met many great turrets in the wood, shared my oils with them and spend night talking about hunting but most of the time it’s the wild hulls that accompany you.

I wish this story was all about that but things took a turn for the worse. I had recently finished a CTF project in Rio which I would describe as quite boring even though it was my favorite format. I still I need a little bit of peace time for myself. Because of this, I decided to take a 5 day hike into the nearby Forest that were an excellent place for hunting and I decided to hunt for Wasps if I came across any. So I filled up my oil tanks, packed my Shaft mags and polished my scope as well as packing my pop-up tent and some snacks.

I took the 3 hours drive to my destination.I was happy to see the nature all again and see the wonder it can provide. We all know Forest is a pretty good map; suitable for everyone. I arrived there to find that all the cabins were empty and the Mod’s Office looked as if it had been empty for years. I brushed it off, parked and started my hike. For the first time, the vibe of that place felt positively creepy. Everything was isolated and the area beyond Mod’s office gave me sinister chills. I cant really describe how or why that place gave me uneasy feelings.

I headed out onto the path and began scanning the area for wild hulls. These woods were quite exquisite because the sun was shining bright and hulls were all up as I was able to see their track marks running along the ground. I came across a few Wasps but no Hornets unfortunately.

After several hours it was evening and it was getting pretty dark. I was banned when I was a Warrant officer for flooding but that fear of being alone still exists deep inside me. And the Forest makes it even more scary. I parked my tracks, drank some oil and started a campfire to keep my wires safe from catching cold. I decided to go on a hunt again as my clan had instructed me in the art of night-hunting and I was eager to test out my new-found knowledge.

15 minutes later as I was putting the fire out and preparing to leave, I turned cold as ice and started to shake as I saw a silhouette of a turret  roughly 100 meters away from where I camped. It was unexpected. Adding to this, I noticed a laser cutter and it looked as if he was stalking someone or something. That turret was wide and his back was facing me so I think he didn’t notice me. I was still shocked and didn’t move as I kept staring at this guy for about  5 minutes until he vanished into the woods without any trace. I hoped he was just another hunter like my self, though I honestly didn't think this was the case.

After few more hours I was feeling confident enough to go out for the hunt again and catch at least a Wasp or two. I pin-pointed where my tent was on the map and made my way into the woods with my stuff. Soon I was deep in no-man's land. I was stalking a Wasp in this pitch dark night who had already noticed me as I was only about 15 meters away from it. I grabbed my shaft’s high caliber bullet and pointed at the unlucky Wasp. As soon as I was about to go into sniper mode I heard a branch snap. My scope fell wide open, my wires electrified and I turned cold again. As I jerked my  turret towards the source of the noise I saw a huge silhouette  around 50 meters away near a tree. The silhouette did nothing, and just calmly continued watching me.The  size looked the same as the shadow I saw earlier, roughly 2 tons.

He started at me and I started back. My  body was still stoned but a sudden rush of adrenaline was causing me to shake. I couldn’t see this turret as it was still too dark. Was he some late night Tanki-Destroyer ? Will I ever see daylight again? I  choked. "Who’s there?" I shouted but my voice trembled and I knew it sensed the fear in my voice.

He lifted that laser cutter at me and pointed at me. That was it! I bolted, almost tripping myself up and hitting my sides on some branches with twigs  snapped rapidly behind me. That horrible guy was chasing me. I looked back once and saw his cutter brushing the tree branches to the side of him and that’s when I realized that I had dropped my ammo. Dammit! I would have to buy another one. It’s amazing how a tank can remember trivial things in horrible situations. Even if it’s a gun, I wasn’t going back for it.

A ton of thought where going through my head! Why me? What does he want? Crystals? Supplies? “Isn’t this fun?" he said in a very deep tone. He then kept laughing in a very creepy way and I couldn’t take it anymore. I speed up and let me tell you that it’s amazing what a Tanki player can do when adrenaline instinct takes over. I've never driven so fast all my life and I made a hard right and dived into some nearby bushes and eventually lost  the guy. I heard his tracks going to the opposite side. It turns out that I went into a huge circle as I could see my tent about 50 meters away. I had tears on my scope and was shaking badly but I tried to stay strong. I tuned my ears  to the creepy blackness. I heard nothing and saw nothing. After some time, I made my way around to the tent as quietly as possible.

I checked my watch and it was 10 pm. I sat still in my tent trying to hear every single thing in the woods.

“Crack”

I held my breath as I heard a twig snapped behind me and it was accompanied by a much more sinister voice. “ You think you can run? I win!” With that, my tent was sliced open. The guy's scope was wide open and locked on mine.

“You lose! He screamed as he pulled out his laser cutter. Close combat was not really my strong point compared to shafting but arcade shots made me a pretty able guy to take 1 on 1. As he came to stab me I got hold of his turret and dodged the laser cutter by turning to other side. A shot him right on the armour and tried to disarm him but he laughed during the process. I thought he was trying to  mock me, however I was ready to kill him. I dislocated his left metal casting by shooting 2 arcade shots continuously and then tackling the area, even tho my tracks were near his cutter but I somehow managed by jumping over him as I dislocated the casting and screws. His left casing was broke. He let out a blood curdling scream and now I had the upper hand. I took advantage of his situation and got his laser cutter and gave him a taste of his own medicine, snking the cutter deep into his engine. I landed a few shots again and I think I broke his unit. I grabbed my turret in pain as he fought back by kicking me and then suddenly he bent into a weird position  went unconscious.

I checked my radar, no service! I towed him back to the Mod’s Office, following my old track marks. After an hour of struggling with this creepy guy, I found the Mod’s office and to my surprise a young Moderator was already there. I collapsed on my tracks and explained the situation. It turns out that the killer had slashed my right metal casting off the lower part of my mechanism but the adrenaline rush kept me going despite the pain. The mod offered me a ride back to the nearby garage and I did. I took him up on his offer. The creepy guy was taken away.

The next day I woke up in the garage with an Admin sitting next to me. That’s when he said something which will be in memory forever, never to be erased. When I first saw the killer, his back was towards me and the cutter stuck in his turret, and he was stalking someone. It turns out that he was after another hiker who was brutally murdered and torn apart. I vowed from then onwards to never go hunting alone by myself again.

I have never gone in the Forest map after that incidence and have never ever gone somewhere else alone either. Forest can be a very good and beautiful place to play and hunt but watch out as the tables can be turned within a blink of an eye!  Watch out for the world outside! Never judge a book by its cover.

Don’t think that this can never happen to you! Good luck hunting golds and kills.

Approved.

Edits:

- "Turrets" not "Turrents".

- Corrected lots of spelling errors.

- Rephrased many sentences.

- Size 14 and Trebuchet MS.

- Substituted words where the originals didn't work.

- Corrected several Grammar errors.

- Don't use "Thru" or "Tho" or "Fav". Brings down the feel of the piece.

In addition, you were slightly contradictory. Your character starts out by praising "alone time" and actually wanting it so much that he abandons a task for a 5 day hike. Then you mention that he is constantly afraid of being alone. Kind of irritated me.

I tried to rephrase parts of it to make it clearer, but I'd lost the plot of the tale by the end of it.  An interesting start, but not a very satisfactory ending.

Other things to take note of, but this took so long to edit that I'm short of time. PM me if you have any questions.
