I bought about $30 so far to have an m2 combo. For M3, I don't think you should spend that much, but having more than one combination is probably nice. So, get maybe 2-3 combinations and play around to get skilled with them.

You're paying if you're drugging. Either way, it's a balance of crystals. You can choose not to drug in drug battles to save your crystals, but it's not going to be as effective. If drugs are removed, then nothing would be as exciting as to pushing druggers off :D
