Chances are they wouldn't be, anything capable of advanced spaceflight would likely not fear us. Even with one advanced spacecraft, destroying Earth would not be a problem. They would win even by throwing space rocks at us.

1st: Aliens visiting Earth would likely have known about us LONG before visiting as anyone with advanced technology would. 2nd: If they are visiting us, that in itself would show that they are not terrified. They likely would have been spying for decades before deciding to show their faces, and only after deciding we are nothing but munchkins to them.

If they were stone age or middle age, they would not have arrived at Earth. They would not be equally terrified, not anymore than you would be visiting a small forest tribe with an army of tanks.
