What to buy? Which is better?

Get an M3 hull... its more important than a couple of MUs... an option which is disabled half the time. Once you get your favorite M3 combos, then feel free to dive into the world of MUs... but maxing it is never very beneficial. I'm in the same boat that you are currently in, and I suggest you get an M3 hull, if not multiple M3s before you begin MUing one. Youve already done the most important steps. At this point it would be more beneficial for you to get a hull and then MU its HP a bit, plus your paint, if you want to be great in DMs.

What to buy? Which is better?

Generally on a light hull, its better to use medium-long range paint protections, because with your speed, you can usually avoid most of the close range users by simply backing up and keeping your distance. If you played any other maps... I'd recommend a paint like Savanna, Digital, etc... but since those maps are loaded with Freeze and Thunder users... you might find success using Rustle. There are lots of Isidas in Noise/Silence too, so the 10% Isida protection is actually useful. Rustle is a cheap fix for a good paint that will last you for many ranks, and with a few MU's its even better. Some say its better than Emerald, but I suppose its a matter of opinion. For the price, its a steal. I have Zeus paint, yet I still use my Rustle on many occasions. Your main problem when using a light hull, is that you simply don't want to be 1 shot killed by an enemy railgun user. This absolutely hinders you. Savanna will prevent this, and generally Emerald will too. I wouldn't exactly suggest buying Savanna though, since there are so many other smoky protections around, it encourages people in general to not use Smoky, therefore you wouldnt benefit as much with a smoky protection yourself if there are less players using it already. Thunder on the other hand is extremely popular... in all three of those maps you listed. I would think Emerald or Rustle would do you the best for a 'temporary' paint to last you until the high ranks where you can get something more expensive. I used Tundra forever until I finally bought Rustle, and it was a substational upgrade, but my problem - being a wasp user, is that I can't use Rustle nor Zeus with wasp, because enemy railguns 1 shot kill me. I'm forced to use my old Tundra paint... which is pretty lame. I desperately need something like Prodigi at this point, or anything with 10-20% railgun protection on it so that I can use my Wasp more efficiently. This won't apply to you once you get M3 hornet, it can take an M3 rail shot. At M2 on the other hand, you'll be facing a few M3 railgunners so it could certainly be a problem for you for a couple of ranks if you play with those at Brigaider to General ranks. Inferno/Irbis/other close range paints are better for use on heavy hulls, because they take more damage from close range weapons. They can't escape, and need to survive while they deal as much damage as possible, so usually you will use Inferno in a map like Hill, Island, Deck-9, Farm, etc, where it is loaded with Freeze users with heavy hulls on drugs. Don't get me wrong, close range paints can be used on light hulls, but from my experience, and a few discussions with others, at least until you get your M3 Hornet, you'll want to use some medium to long range protection on it. Rail or Thunder will probably fit you best. Sorry if I rambled there. Hope you can make sense of some of that.

What to buy? Which is better?

Here are a few: How to get crystals verry fast How to get crystals fast Crystals: What are they? How to earn them? Its not suggested however to simply pickup crystals rather than focusing on the match you're in... this would be considered sabotage. You can actually earn alot more crystals by simply coming in 1st place in your matches, and choosing battles wisely - ones which you can win. Since you get 0 experience points for picking up crystals... you're missing out on the 'crystals for ranking up' bonus that you get every time you rank. These help alot more than you'd expect, especially if you focus your efforts on accumulating as many points as possible... it also means that as you rank higher, every day your bonus will be considerably better... and this adds up over time. You also become a more skilled player by focusing on the game.. and Tanki is much more enjoyable. Even if you earn plenty of crystals by picking them up in DMs, it is of little use to own a nice garage when all you know how to do in tanki is memorize every single crystal drop spot lol.

What to buy? Which is better?

More info about yourself? Both are good... but due to lots of Emeralds, Cedars, and Prodigis... but almost 0 Loams, and only a few Zeus at your ranks (and even a few ranks above), Firebird would have little to no enemies using protection against it. Occasionally you'll spot an inferno... but its only 30% and with firebirds high damage per second, its insignificant for the most part. It really comes down to which you prefer to use... M2 Firebird is a huge step up from M1, while M2 Thunder is a very small increase from M1, so for the money you spend, you're getting a much more improved turret by going with Firebird. I only have M1 Fire/Thunder so I can't tell you exactly from personal experience. I have yet to find someone who regrets purchasing M2 Firebird though, its apparently very OP at the rank of Major to Colonel, and I've seen many high high rank players using it in DMs and other matches against Generalissimos with M3s... and them with M2 Firebird owning the match in 1st place. I have yet to see this done with M2 Thunder, so maybe that can provide for you a little insight.

What to buy? Which is better?

I prefer Smoky for its 'surprise' factor. The critical hits make the enemys rage... especially if you get 2 crits in a row. They save you at the best moments resulting in epic wins and its just a joy... though sometimes you get a string of 15-20 shots without a single critical hit... those moments are pretty dull... but with Smoky you can knock enemy railguns off aim, and even thunder/smoky users by aiming at the corners of their hull, so its enjoyable to practice this and master it. Twins has much less impact force now, in comparison to what it used to have... twins isn't my type of gun, so I'm not the right person to ask probably, but I know that those who purchase it say its decent, and usually dont regret it. Smoky M2 crits alot actually, significantly more than M1 does. You'll have 'good' games where you critical hit ALOT, and 'bad' games where they just seem to have gone into hibernation mode... but it later makes up for it. The only problem is the paints - if you can manage all the paint protections being used against your turret, then you have nothing to worry about.

What to buy? Which is better?

Both are very good weapons. The only problem however with Smoky, is that there are many paint protections against it. With the updating of the Light M3 kit which now contains Needle, smoky protection is everywhere. There was already a large number of Savanna paint users running around, and with the added Needle users, its hard to find a match where one enemy player (at least) isnt using heavy smoky protection. Twins on the other hand, since it was nerfed with slower bullet traveling speed, there are far less paint protections against it, and you can do quite well with it. @hogree recently posted a few screenshots of him using Twins in a few large CTF games in 1st place with Generalissimos in it. (I believe his was M3) Due to enemys having very little protection from twins, he easily was able to do well and score plenty of kills and flag captures. He used Hornet with it. I don't own Twins, but I do own M2 Smoky, and I can tell you that it is awesome! I use it on my M2 Titan and my M3 Wasp, both work exceptionally well... the critical hits are super fun, especially when you get 2-3 in a row! In my opinion, Twins are very boring so.. they are not for me, but if you like the gameplay with Twins, then you can't go wrong with M2 twins. I do not regret purchasing M2 smoky by ANY means, I LOVE it, especially for using with Titan in heavy drug wars because the critical hits give you a large advantage vs other druggers. It 1 shot kills enemy wasp/hornet druggers, making their HP packs 100% useless. This is very helpful, and when I critical hit a medium/heavy hull, it takes out a significant portion of their HP.. and since they take so many shots to kill, I almost always score a critical hit on one of the enemy heavy hulls... which leads to victory. So ultimately both are very good, and since they both unlock late, they are useful for many ranks to come. I suggest you choose the one that you enjoy more. If you play large maps, Smoky will probably be better because you have a much greater range. It does great in small and medium maps too though. If you play mostly in small maps and medium maps, then you should also consider Twins. The part about you saying you find 'M1 smoky weak' this is because M1 smoky unlocks at a very early rank... similar to firebird. Any Modification of a piece of equipment which unlocks earlier than the other equipment of that same Modification are generally weaker... for example, Thunder M1 and Hunter M1 unlock very late to all the other m1s... and they are without a doubt extremely powerful. Same for M2 Smoky, Viking, and Titan... these all unlock late, and they are better generally, than the earlier unlocked M2s. M2 smoky is NOT weak at all. Good luck. :D As I said in my post above, Hunter is great at M1 and M3... at M2 though, its weak in comparison to Viking and Titan. It completely loses its effectiveness at Brigadier, when you're facing M3 hornets which literally have the same amount of HP as you... but they are 3.0 speed faster, and smaller being harder to hit... with far better accel/pushing power, not to mention turning speed. Hunter M2 was not one of my best purchases, but it 'got me through' the ranks. If I could go back though, I would've purchased the M2 Medium kit for Viking. And you're very welcome. :) Hopefully you'll get some other peoples opinions too.

What to buy? Which is better?

Its extremely silly to MU to max at M0,M1 or M2... its a HUGE rip off. You only want to max MU at M3. You'll literally waste HUNDREDS of thousands of crystals if you try to max MU M1 or M2s... and that doesnt include speed-ups... if you want to include speedups, you're easily looking at a MILLION crystals just for a max MU'd item. The biggest waste of crystals since tanki existed lol. Therefore, there is no need for a chart. Though at the bottom of my page, you'll see three links which contain every single increment of each parameter in detail, price, time, exact amount of increase per step. Feel free to add up a few steps if you wish to know the price and stat increase of the first few steps... only the first 3-4 steps (at max) are recommended on an M1 or M2 item... probably only 2 steps... of the most important parameters. Otherwise you're just throwing crystals in the trash. It is NOT worth the 'discount' by maxing out a parameter. You spend waaay more in the long run. "^Well I know that, but I'm on with the Smokey M2, which goes good with Hunter M2." Don't buy Hunter M2 if you can get Viking M2... Viking M2 is far superior. Hunter M2 unlocks early, and has considerably worse stats. At M2, Viking is by far the best medium hull. Hunter is only good at M1 and M3. Smoky isnt unlocked until late... your best route is the M2 Medium kit with Viking + Thunder, and then later you can buy your M2 smoky, since its so far away. I own Hunter M2, I no longer use it except on rare occasions... and I wont use it until I am able to get it to M3. Even at M3, its not that amazing others say.
  9. r_brandybabyxx0

What to buy? Which is better?

No question about it, the M2 Medium kit is an extremely good value. Prodigi + emerald are included, which are better than Prodigi + Rustle in the paint kit alone. It would be silly to buy the hull kit, when you can only use one at a time anyways... the M2 heavy kit is sub-par, Mammy M2 isnt that great, especially in comparison to M2 Titan... and M2 ricochet is almost useless. Buy the M2 medium kit, Thunder + Viking M2 + Prodigi + Emerald. Its the best kit that has existed yet, for the value and rank of unlock.

    Most commonly used weapon

This is completely dependant on which maps a person plays... for someone who only plays in Stadium, obviously Shaft and Rail would be the most popular... but for someone who plays in Island and Farm all the time, they'll tell you something totally different. It also depends on the ranks of the players.. some weapons are far more effective at different ranks.

Tanki Picture of the Day - Have any?

Anyone know if this is the new record for most flags captured in a single game? 596 seems like quite a few... and what would happen if someone capped over 1,000 flags... does tanki even bother to use a comma to seperate the 000's? Or would it be like a 'space' inbetween how our crystals are numbered... heh.

What to buy? Which is better?

Well Remaine is probably right from an 'effeciency' standpoint... but as for myself, I hold a very different opinion. 1)I come from a racing game background... my dad sorta races, and the M3 Wasp is like a Formula 1 car to me... and I LOOOVEEEEEE speed. I use nitros addictively... if I'm not in an XP game, (which I'm almost always in,) then I'm either helping a friend in a drug war with Titan + Smoky/Freeze + Rustle/Zeus, or I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off with M3 wasp on nitro (with the camera angle as low to the ground as possible because it feels like you're going MUCH faster) zipping past people and doing donuts around their confused heads as I run off laughing hysterically with the enemies flag. I particularly like to appear as if I have this dementia in Sandbox. But I'm not a total crazy, I actually have reason to backup my need for speed. 2)My theory is that prevention is the greatest cure, and ultimately the best answer to success... if I'm going to do something, I'm going to go all the way... therefore, I care very little about protection (As long as I'm not 1 shot killed by a rail - but obviously I use rail protection in my m3 wasp) and focus entirely on my ability to dodge and avoid enemies shots altogether in the first place. If I wanted a 'fast stable and healthy' hull, I obviously would've chosen Hornet, it MU's much nicer as do most other early unlocked M3s. -See full MU chart here, you'll notice Hornet has much much better stats. Hornet has 210 HP MU'd... wasp only has 179.. seriously click here and look- If I could dodge just one more shot with my extra .50 or .75 speed, and my +20.0 hull turning speed by tricking someone, not only is it far more enjoyable and rewarding, but it takes more skill than to just 'take a hit.' And thats why I bought my wasp, I love the thrill, and my goal is to make it a hull that is exceptionally difficult to land a hit on. Protection is my last concern - though I will MU the first few steps for protection just because its cheap in the beginning - it will be the last thing I max, however. This is why I hate hornet, and have it at M0. I hate the drifting. When you're drifting, its harder to stop, and the enemy can easily see which direction your hull is going in. Wasp's SPLIT SECOND turning speed with very little drifting gives the enemy very very little time to react, often causing them to break under pressure and make more mistakes than if you were using a bit slower, larger, and easier to predict hull - Hornet. So for me personally, I'd MU speed and turning speed #1 priority, but most would probably say thats a mistake - but I could care less. I'd even max MU power before protection. It might allow for that one split second of hard braking that you need, or quick acceleration - even if only a slight slight increase, to trick your opponent into missing their shot. It could also be just that one little centimeter of distance that you needed to reach cover when under fire from a twins or smoky, that saves you. One milisecond of INCREASED speed is one milisecond of DECREASED reaction time for your opponent. P.S. All the past games I've played before Tanki, I usually choose the 'stealth' type of characters, ninja's really, who are extremely fast, light, agile, and deadly. They lurk in the shadows and then POUNCE like a jaguar to score the kill. Moments later, they're gone again. If they get hit once by a much bigger enemy, they're out - but isn't that the fun in it? To live on the edge? #yolo lolololdonthateokayidontsaythisinreallifeipromise. P.S.S. By all means, listen to Remaine/others, I prefer to be different and have less people with my viewpoint.

What to buy? Which is better?

Why python? Why not Inferno or Zeus or a better paint altogether? Its not a good idea to accumulate many low ranked paints, they all become useless once you reach the high ranks. Freeze M3 and Titan M2 are certainly worth their prices, M3 freeze MU's really nicely, and M2 titan is much better than M2 mammoth, I use it frequently, and it works very well in drug wars. Same with freeze. Python isnt really worth purchasing if you already have unlocked high rank paints unless you're extremely scraping the bottom of the pan and you have nothing but like forester, and not enough crystals for a nice paint.. then I suppose if you have to, it could suffice... absolutely last resort... but you'd need to replace it quickly. Even Rustle is far more useful than Python.

What to buy? Which is better?

Needle and MU'd Savanna are fairly common. So is Zeus with 25% default protection, but many MU it to 37-40 if in a non-pro battle. I don't suggest Mammoth M2 unless you want to use it entirely for DM mode... or for DEFENSE in CTF mode, particularly in small maps. Otherwise, Titan or Viking are far far better options. Shaft is great, but few people know how to use it well, and if you already have something like Railgun, probably would be better for you to get a close to medium range weapon since you'd have long distance already covered. What else is in your garage? Paints - hulls - weapons? Its hard to give someone a useful answer without knowing their current circumstances. How many crystals do you have? What are your goals, favorite maps, and favorite combos? Play style?

What to buy? Which is better?

I'd buy the medium m3 kit... just cause I love Hunter and Smoky too. You cant use Smoky in clan wars though. Hunter goes well with all weapons, but the problem is that Hunter is somewhat similar to Viking. Hunter is the 'wasp' version of the hornet. Though since your hunter is M0... this works out to be an extremely good deal, same with Smoky being M1... you probably wont get the chance in the future when you want to buy these to get them for such a good deal, so I'd take the offer before its gone, you'll regret not having it down the road. Its 2 ranks away for you though, only downside... and the price tag.. but you said you're fine on crystals so :) Score Multiplier Pass For 12,500 of these bad boys: Increases XP that you receive by 30%. Duration: 1 month. Can be bought in Shop. Please note that score multiplier pass doesn’t increase your score in team battles. It affects only experience. I strongly suggest you get an M1 hull. Hornet works very well. I see you're smart, and realize that railguns hurt. The way around this though is to use a railgun protective paint such as Tundra. Hornet + Tundra + weapon of your choice = guaranteed satisfaction. Viking is alright, but it is more fitting for smaller maps. Since you're a close range lover, you're probably frequently on the attack, and so Hornets speed gives you an edge. Viking would work better for defense, but you might get bored. When using firebird, you have a very long reload period, so Hornet lets you get in, and get out quickly. You deal your damage, and then get back into cover away from opponents as they burn to death, while you reload and prepare for the next deadly attack. Viking makes this a much harder strategy because you can't zip around like a Hornet can. You should do your best to rank up. Firebird is great, and really there arent that many paint protections against it. Both Firebird and Thunder work great in DM's, a friend of mine. still uses M2 firebird to own DM's full of Generalissimos. Thunder M2 isnt a significant upgrade from M1, Firebird on the other hand is huge. I'd strongly suggest you to rank up as soon as possible, use all your drugs if needed, and get Firebird! You already have M1 thunder on your alt, no need to have the same weapon on two seperate accounts. Then you'll no longer have a need for your second account if you have M2 on your main. Plus, Thunder's best upgrades are M1 and M3 (because you can MU it at M3 - and its MU's are extremely good.) I'm sure there will be many sales between the time you reach Brigadier from now, so you can buy Thunder M1->3 all at once, perhaps there will even be a kit with M3 thunder in it. One currently doesnt exist, but perhaps by the time you are Brigadier, the Light M3 will be removed for Hornet + Thunder combo or something. Buying a kit that contains an item which you have at only M0 really is an awesome deal. Problem is we still don't know if the sale is going to be for Firebird or not.

What to buy? Which is better?

Yes, Wasp + Smoky is indeed an epic combo! I recently used it in a Sandbox CTF vs heavy druggers and kit users, and despite their efforts to stop me, my insane speed allowed me to quickly get in and out from their base with their flag before they even knew what was going on. Smoky allowed me to shoot railguns (m3 rails with DP who were using Needle/hornet from the kit...) off of their aim, which HURT REALLY BAD and so I made them miss like 50 times in that match, capping their flag... best game ever, it was so fun and its now like my favorite combo. Pic in spoiler from that amazing match:
