An EPIC game with some of my friends. Maybe my fund would've been 2000+ if that stalemate had ended before the battle did :P

Review [Issue 50] #TankiTrends
TriNitroToIuene replied to TriNitroToIuene in [Issue 50] #TankiTrends Newspaper Archive
When tankers battle, I'm pretty sure no-lifing ain't the only thing they do. They like to do.....er..... different stuff sometimes. And indeed, a lot of different stuff has cropped up over the past few months/years. Some might have cropped up as recently as last week (tell me if you know any), and some might be going on for years, awaiting official recognition, and are - still trends. And so, here's this topic dedicated to those funky things tankers do in their spare time. #1. SAVE THE GOLD (Credit to . This picture has been taken from his YouTube channel classyplebs) One of the most popular trends in Tanki Online right now is (disputably) Save the Gold - there's even been an Expert's Advice section in the VLOG about it. A remarkable waste of time mines where one team attempts to plant mines all around a fallen gold box (dropped, not slain, mind you) and the other team tries to get past the barricade - along with the defending tanks to take the gold box. It's a great way of telling yourself that you deserved the gold, it's really fun to gain some quick kills for both sides and, you get to dispose of unwanted mines. Not to mention the constant, feeling of thrill by the teams as they either - 1. Kill 2. Plant mines 3. Repeat OR 1. Charge at the mines 2. Die 3. Repeat It's a similar situation to Polygon CP, and we all know why that one's popular, don't we? Save the gold may be awesome if you want a few quick golds with truckloads of adrenaline in the process, but it SHREDS your D/L. Really, it does. Steer clear if you prefer gaining XP the normal way, or if you don't like golds (which I don't think should happen). People play till the gold drops, leave, inform the public via chat, join again, and start pooping mines. Look out for those messages in chat (and watch out for the fake messages xD) and join right away, and start killing stuff while you try to get the gold. #2. MINE HUNT Credit to the Tanki Mini Games club for this pic If you still have some mines left over after reading this article so far, then you can read #2. If you don't, head for the Back button. Another waste of mines (although a hundred times less) where you lay mines in utmost secrecy in tight-to-reach places (in a 999-minute parkour battle), invite a trusted lieutenant, and then proceed to invite cronies to join the other team - or the battle, if it's a DM. Everyone, then, attempts to find and defuse the mines - an honourable way of committing suicide, I'm sure. The person who defuses the maximum number of mines wins...............reputation and a word of congratulations. Anyway, it's real fun which tests your OMP skills, your cooperation and coordination, and above all, your use of camera angles and your keen eye. A great way of passing time in battles where you wait for the table to fill up, or just a good way of having fun with friends. #3. FIRE+WASP Fire+Wasp battles, also commonly known as Fire/Wasp or FW battles, may be bad for D/L but are excellent for raking in those quick kills and hunting for gold boxes. The high DPM of Firebird and the low health of Wasp means kills happening many times as often, resulting in high fund. If you go PRO, you may ask your friends to leave at the last moment and gift you all the funds. Combine that with the adrenaline of the gold box and the high crystal yield of CP (which is the most common battle played in this unofficial format), and you have a blockbuster on your hands. Just head over to Island or Arena, turn drops and supplies off, and start killing everything in your path. FW has remained a trend in Tanki since goodness-knows-when. You can find a lotta these battles in the servers, and they're ideal for completing missions. Oh, and for some of you, it might be the only time where you put your Wasps to some use. This trend is so popular that there're clamours to make it an official format. We certainly hope it becomes one (at least, I do). Mind, play only with people you trust, otherwise there'll be a lot of equipment-changing =P. Please note that it's also a godsend for those rich nubs who get beaten up in regular battles. Great to gain XP. Don't judge me for that. #4. IMITATION SPEC Thanks to the awesome Yisroel.Rabin for taking this picture for me <3 Aha! Knew it'd crop up somewhere. Obviously, since I made the list. Imitation spec is for those (talented) wannabes who don't fit the requirements needed to become an official spectator of Tanki. Yeah, I know, community service runs in their blood. While this was a dream for many, Imitation Spectator was made popular in our community by (correct me if I'm wrong) Yisroel.Rabin, who used a combination of Self-Destruct and clever tank positioning to take breathtaking pictures like the one above. But still, this guy was probably one of the few "epic" people at it. Mouse controls and the camera viewing update made it possible for tankers to shoot very realistic imitation spec pictures, and NOW, it became a trend. Soon, people were being called mults for playing around with the camera in battles. Photography became a status symbol, a means by which tankers could show off. Yeah, yeah, end of story. Now you have people offering to model in Fake Spec pics. The difficulty level has reduced to that of a point-and-shoot camera, and almost the whole of Tankiverse (except the pr0s of RU1 and RU2) have caught on to it. But after all, that is the proper definition of a trend, isn't it? #5. CATCH THE REPAIR KIT Them goldhunters dream of taking golds. The problem is, they take gold boxes at an average of about three per year. Hence, their "skills" tend to become a little rusty. The solution? Catch the repair kit! Most commonly played in a 999 minute Massacre CTF Parkour battle, this trend was first popularized through a few YouTube videos and now, we can find one of these battles in almost every server (except for maybe the first 5 RU ones). Although there is no personal gain out of this, it's a great hobby for wasting time, which tankers do best and also honing gold skills in Massacre. Not much of a help elsewhere, I'm afraid. You're better off watching goldhunting videos than this, actually. But still, this is a pretty good way to unwind in Tanki Online, and relax. Which, in my opinion, not many tankers do. Well, if you want to appear to be doing something productive, and yet want to do nothing, this is the trend for you to follow. Of course, "trends" like Parkour and XP/BP have gone beyond the definition of trends. They're a part of Tanki now. So, if you'll excuse me. Also, if I get a few more trends, I will be writing a sequel to this article. Just let me know in this thread what trends you want me to include in that article, and I'll do it. Till then, this is TNT. See you in the battlefield!- 25 replies

[Issue 48] Control Points: Reviewing the Update
TriNitroToIuene replied to TriNitroToIuene in Newspaper Archive
You make a good statement, but the point is, Polygon isn't the only map supporting CP  -
Sad that Semyon should leave us like this and go :( He was the one who made the VLOG what it is. Kudos to him for that.
-
No, the so-called voiceovers sound stupid without Semyon! He was the one who lent character to the VLOG, and now, though we have more info, the visuals they display while introducing the theme are plain old dull. This is perhaps the dumbest decision in the history of the V-LOG. Where did our community manager go? #BringBackSemyon
