They used to generate Barcodes or QR codes for terminals to read. Apple Pay uses the NFC technology instead of QR codes, which is invented by Sony. However, Samsung uses MST technology, which is more widely accepted than NFC. Umm.. not really. The very first smartphone to have a fingerprint scanner built in was the Motorola Atrix, which was released 2 years before the iPhone 5S Oh, come on, everybody knows Samsung made its first smartwatch (Samsung Galaxy Gear) back in 2013 - 2 years before the Apple Watch.
