[Issue 56] The Best of Amateur Writing: Round Four

August is over, and we've had another batch of spam articles submitted to the Amateur Writing Section - from guides and interviews to stories and reviews. As usual, we've got the best ones here, along with a few announcements and the usual rambling. So, let's move on, shall we? Top 5 Articles of the Month We had lots of awesome content submitted from the 29th of July to the 29th of August, but these five were the ones that really stood out. In no particular order this time round, we present... the Top 5 articles of the month. 1) Map Breakdown: Arena by: @tony990_Superstar Tweezers: Another great guide, covering most of the strategies to gain the upper hand in Arena, all in a well organized and well written article that will be invaluable for those looking to excel in Arena. Fen-Harel: Decent set of quick and concise tips that you can immediately apply in your game. Even though it has no visuals, the piece is structured well enough to not look like just another wall of text. 2) How2Fiction ~ The Abbadoom Way By: Tweezers: A brilliantly written piece, and also something quite original. The example story was a nice touch too, and the explanations were spot on. All in all, thumbs up from this end! Fen-Harel: I'm a fan of articles that relate to people, their motivations and their skills. This is just such a piece, as it describes the essence of storytelling. Really a decent read before jumping into the story writing sphere of the AWC. I've done a similar piece about a year or two back (although now that I look back at it, I should do a rewrite of it) - so I can kind of relate with it much more, too. 3) Snowfall By: @Masquerade Tweezers: Beautifully used language, coupled with a gripping plot that makes for a highly entertaining story. Definitely worth a read. Fen-Harel: A somewhat psychological piece that you don't get to see very often. This is a serious and engaging short story that might even leave you with unease. 'Specially when you realise things like that actually happen to people. 4) Hurricane By: @Blackdrakon30 Tweezers: Dark, hard hitting, and including a lot of different advanced writing techniques that helped deliver the main theme of the story. Definitely a very thought provoking piece. Fen-Harel: This month is really pushing the deepness vibe... If you're the type that likes emotional stories with serious undertones, this is definitely one you should give a read. 5) It's Time To Excel in: Silence By: Tweezers: An extremely comprehensive guide, featuring visually aided explanations of most aspects of battling in Silence. An impressive amount of work must have gone into creating this, and it takes a well earned spot in the top 5. Fen-Harel: Lots of effort here. Well structured and detailed, with pictures to help the reader follow everything that's talked about. Some parts could use trimming in length and relevance, as they do get rather lengthy. Overall a great piece and definitely the best one this month. Honourable Mentions Quite a few honourable mentions this time, some nice content floating around the AWS. 5 More Types Of Noobs by @BLASTER872 Kit Review (M1) by @sre123 Try and Triumph by @F.I.N.I.S.H.E.R Foreshadow (Part 1) by @Viperstrike Amphibious Hovering Hull (Triton) by @Viking4s Distinguished Members With the new additions to the AWC come new Distinguished Members. This time, its @BLASTER872 and who join their ranks. Well done! Amateur Writing Club News You lot have been submitting articles to the AWS for 4 months now, and the name list of the Amateur Writing Club keeps growing everyday. As you all know, you can submit your application to join the AWC by sending a PM to the account . The requirements to join can be found here. Also, we wrapped up another project this month, namely Project: Inspiration. Head over to http://goo.gl/XJ0oOl and check out the results. [hr[ Well, that's all for now. We'll be back next Issue, featuring everything AWC-related for the month of September. Until then, keep bashing those keyboards and take care.
