Because it comes from the Russian terms for the Hornet-Railgun (Хорнет-Рельса) and Wasp-Railgun (Васп-Рельса) combination. XP/BP is an abbrevation for two different playing combinations, and not one as you thought it to be. You may find the Dictionary for players useful.

It has been condensed in order to make it more compact and straight to the point, featuring the most important rank brackets, otherwise it just clutters up the page unnecessarily (especially since progressing through ranks in-game is faster at lower ranks, thus making more sense to have broader poll options to compensate for it). I'm also quite sure you wouldn't stumble upon active forumers with each and every rank that the game has, meaning that most of the poll options would be left untouched and just unnecessarily take up the page space, due to which as I've mentioned it is better to split them up into respective rank brackets for players to choose from, enabling clearer and more comprehensive ranks' overview.
