    Corrosion: Chapter 5 (Finale)

Authors Note: This chapter contains mature themes, concepts, and actions. Reader discretion is advised, especially for younger readers. With that said, read on. Corrosion: Chapter 5 (Finale) One week. That was all they had to create a plan, get everything approved, alert the area, and order an evacuation of everyone in a 2 block radius out of the area. All of this without Tucker noticing, and considering he had men everywhere, that was just about impossible. Security people are the most annoying of all people. They are rarely bribed and very often patriotic, especially when they guard the parliament. Everyone is so uptight and doesn’t let anything go by without metal detectors, pat downs, the whole 15 yards. Which is why John hated trying to find the single lazy one who just doesn’t care anymore. It took a few days, but John found him. He had five months until retirement, not quite enough saved up, so the extra twenty thousand was greatly appreciated. All he had to do was go through the far gate at the employee's entrance, and there would be no problems. John sighed, it was going to be a long day. The day finally arrived, undercover cops scattered in a two block radius searching for him at the main entrance, the roofs, everywhere. Increased security was everywhere, and a decoy sniper set up in the place Price should be to make Tucker think that all was according to plan. “Dammit Price, do you REALLY think you’ll fool Tucker with this.” Miller snarled. Ever since the first meeting, Miller had disliked the hitman. He didn’t trust him, and he never would. “This isn’t a game, too many lives are at stake here. And before you say ‘yes, I know this isn’t a game, it is life or death’ like every other time, I want you to promise me that you haven’t done anything with Tucker, and I want you to know I have my eyes on you, always.” “Yes, I understand your complaints and your reasons for hating me, but I don’t have another option, even THIS is too far for me.” Price coldly replied. Anyone can overhear even a hushed conversation, you just have to hope they don’t care about what you just said. Unfortunately, the person who did overhear was the exact opposite of that. John strolled into the building wearing cargos, a bright Hawaiian shirt, vibrantly colored sneakers, face covering $3 sunglasses, a Red Sox baseball cap, and a backpack. The most noticeable person in all of London is also the most wanted. The more noticeable, the less likely to be noticed. If you look like you thought you were going Hawaii and ended up in London, people assume tourist. He strolled to the employee’s entrance, and the man wasn’t there, instead there were 5 different guards, pistols drawn and unwavering. “Sir, you are under arrest, take off your backpack and slide it to us,” said an officer, confident that he would not have to use any force. John just sighed. “Wait… so this isn’t the main entrance?” “ No, you should know that, John.” “How do you know my name? I meant no harm, just, please let me back out, I don’t want to cause trouble, please.” John begged. The office nods to one of his men, who approaches John as he slowly inches out the door. “I wouldn’t do that, trust me.” John whispers. The man stops right in front of him, looming over the crouching John. “Yeah right, what are ya gonna do? Punch me.” John let the man laugh for a second, reached into his pocket, pulled out a knife and slid it into his chest. “I can do so much worse than that.” He gives him a grim smile, before shooting his hand to the slightly open holster, pulling out the pistol and firing three quick shots, leaving only the officer standing, the others on the ground, each with a bullet in their chests. “Seems like we have a Mexican standoff here don’t we. Each is too scared to shoot, ” said the officer “That is your mistake officer. You are scared, I am not.” One silenced shot later, John was gone. Price knew where Tucker would be. It was all a part of the plan, everyone had to know where the other would be and when. John and Price had to trust each other, and Tucker had to watch them. At 7:13 PM he would be at a window, to observe the progress. Price had one chance, one shot to end it all. Price climbed the stairs to his viewpoint. A decoy was set in the place Price would have been. Tonight, Price had a different mission; he was going to kill Tucker. He had finally snapped after he was told to kill John. No more, not another mission. No money was worth it. He checked his watch, 6: 55, plenty of time. He set his sights on where Tucker would be and waited. Everything was going according to plan for John. He was, in fact, ahead of schedule. Everything was set early, and the detonator firmly in his hands. He would get a mile away before detonation, get paid, and be on his way. He would have enough to lie low for a few years, and be content. He strolled out the door, detonator still in hand, and the backup timer counting down. Redundant, but always good to have a plan B. He walked out the door to find the entrance surrounded by a full SWAT team, and 2 whole blocks completely vacant. “Welcome John, we are glad that you decided to join us. At this point, you hand to detonator to us and we go inside and defuse the bombs. Along with that, you will go down on your knees, head down and arms behind your back” said a policeman “Your little game here is done, so DROP THE DETONATOR!” “I really had hoped those five guards went unnoticed. It seems I was wrong. It looks like you brought the whole calvary. One good thing about the cavalry, though, is they always run away from personal danger. Horses can’t help it. Especially things like…” John paused for dramatic effect... "things that go boom.” He let off a thin smile, bowed, flipped the cover off, and then pressed the detonator. Price jumped in surprise, detonation happened far too early, and no car was leaving the area. “JOHN!” Price cried as he blinked away a tear. “Damn it, John, why do you always have to play the hero.” The explosion was massive, a fireball erupting 750 feet in the air. Red, white, orange, blue, all were visible when the bombs went off. Singed debris raining from the sky, and a blackened snow covered the block and was still blowing in the air. Nothing and no one could have survived that, not at such close proximity. The blast, the burn, so hot even Price felt in 500 yards away. An overwhelming sadness coursed through Prices veins. In an effort to save his friend from death, he caused the most horrific suicide that anyone had ever seen. He just wanted to save his. Funny how life caused even more, pain and suffering because of that. Deep in existential thought, he never noticed Robert come up behind him. He had overheard that Price had worked with Tucker in the past, still bitter over the pain he felt on that failed raid, he found no remorse for what he was to do. “You work with Tucker, don’t you? All this was your idea. I heard you say it. Because of Tucker, I lost my partner. The next day we were to go on a date, I was going to PROPOSE to her. You took that away from me, AND from her. You might not be Tucker, but you’re the closest person still living that I can kill in my revenge.” He smiled the smile of a madman, so twisted, full of teeth and anger. There was no reasoning. He had the upper hand, and nothing mattered anymore. Robert pulled out his pistol and aimed right at Price’s forehead. “Game over” He pulled the trigger, the shot being lost in the sound of the chaos. Robert smiled, only to slowly fade away as a tear rolled down his cheek. He stepped on go the balcony outside the room, walked to the edge, looked around, then turned the pistol around, put it under his chin, and pulled the trigger again. All went black. A body was found below the balcony an hour later. It was picked up, put in a body bag and moved away. Tucker watched all this from the window. He shook his head, counted his money and disappeared. No one ever saw or heard of him again. Though people have mentioned seeing him all over the world, none were able to capture Tucker. He just disappeared. He had had enough in his 40 years as a criminal mastermind. His warrant never disappeared, but the search for him had.

I've never been a big interview fan myself, and (imo) they seem a bit pretentious, rubbing me the wrong way. The interview itself was enjoyable, the concept on the other hand, I dislike.
