Plagiarism and Its Effects Yes, I realize I am a month late, but that means very little in this case, as it is still an issue, despite the constant tries of others to stop it. I will be one the first to say that plagiarism is very bad. I actually, a few years ago, got in trouble for it at school, not realizing it. Plagiarism is a criminal offense, and while people won’t go to court over it here, it could happen, think on that for a second. Now that the legal consequences have been established, it is time to dig deeper into what is means for you and me in the forum. Plagiarism will never be acceptable, and the consequences of it will be felt. The main problem, recently, has been from TWG, or at least a few members. It all started with hero no.1, who, essentially copied the wiki, except with bad grammar and a lack of good formatting. After a few issues, he fortunately left. About a month later, we were introduced to the Experts guide, which was appalling. It was then followed by another, and another clone of a clone. And the interesting thing was, they were never funny, not even in the paper. It was a weird bad idea to begin with, even in the Newspaper. It was destined for failure. Then came Fen, I do not wish to summarize his post, but I had to agree. Alienation began. Nothing that was in place really stayed. And then what, the end of an era. TWG, whom had established itself as an actually good group, fell to pieces. People began backstabbing each other, jumping ship, and distancing themselves, including me. It killed the revitalization of forum off topic writing, a mini renaissance if you will, killed. I am not blaming anyone, I am simply stating the consequences of actions, and how they affect everyone. Was it inevitable that this happened, probably, but plagiarism accelerated the decline. So what is the real problem here? If it was already in decline, what is the point on harping on something that already happened? It is not the action that I find important, but the reaction. The action is inevitable, and so is a reaction. But it was the reaction that killed the movement. Creating Experts Guide, fine, updating it, no. Then arguing till everyone is sick of it is stupid. If you make a mistake, admit, but don’t apologize for it. You could say sorry, I killed you, and not mean it. Actually do something about it. Don’t argue till you are blue in the face. Take a step back, observe the scene, and actually look at yourself. In essence, the whole point is not to condemn anyone who has made these mistakes, but to give a view around it. A new point of view. This is not a death sentence, nor is it a promise, but a warning not to repeat the past. No one wants their reputation destroyed. Especially because alts. are a pain to make and bring up to the level of warrant officer 1. So in conclusion, I would say before doing something, be it writing an article or posting a comment on youtube, it will have consequences, either good or bad. Think about that when you do something if you have the chance to. Also know that certain things are only funny in small doses. So yes, this was kind of a morality and ethics article. However, a decided lack of thinking has been going on recently, and at some point, people will age. And think of how your actions will affect you in the future. So good luck, and think strait.

Bigtimerush_bry's writings Hey everyone, this is, obviously, my writing page, the first of a kind. What to expect: Most likely in depth guides, and contemplations on current tanki events. That's right, no or very few stories. Rules: You must follow all tanki forum rules Don't start arguments just for the sake of it Since everything will be posted on this thread, please quote the title of the article if it is not the most recently published article, so we can understand what you are talking about. Guess that sums it up. Articles are below.

I disagree with the first part, about the reporters being their own little club, and they probably have missiles somewhere else. But I think a revamp would be good.

Just stop. Please. I am sick of all the controversy. The future of writing groups is in the hands of admins now. Just stop complaining, kay? These people are doing what they think IS BEST for this forum, and I am starting to question the importance of writing clubs as a whole. On that note, I too, am resigning. I prefer freelancing anyways, it has less restrictions, and it is easier for me, as I have a busy schedule.
  15. Night, I would beg to differ with your idea of the Odyssey, while I do enjoy the book (read it in 4th grade), I prefer the Iliad, I think it had an interesting storyline, over such a small problem. Lik dis f u cri evri tyme Achilles dis.

  20. Hmm, shall I give a list of what is not plagiarized. BTW, snow days in New England are amazing, in case you were wondering. Or, I could just list the names of those who did not plagiarize. @personia @KillerGnat That is the majority of us. You are basing your entire thinking of a few people, and a section of the Newspaper. I think this whole argument has been blown out of proportion, so can everyone just stop.

  22. Nice article. The only real problem I have with this is it seems to be preaching to the choir. The majority of people reading this on the forum are the more "refined" tankers. Usually not as brash and bigoted as the (younger) boys playing the game. At 16 years of age, I am not stupid enough to walk into chat and say" Any girlzz here?"... "Want to date meh?". It is just so moronic. To the point of girls have bad spelling, there was a point yesterday where I forgot how to spell was. Yes, I forgot how to spell was. I know I am going out of order, but I know many girls who play tanki, and still manage to destroy me. One particularly got a higher score with her m1 mammy fire than my partly mued m2 XP. It was an Island cp though.
