I am considering getting Mars until I can get Gizmo paints. All three protections (Isida —18% Firebird —27% Hammer —33%) are decent values and for turrets I see often and do not overlap with Cherry (Vulcan — 20% Twins — 30% Thunder — 25%), which I have. Does anyone have a better suggestion?

Can't you be both grateful and disappointed?

If you want to recover the cost you spend on upgrading a non-M3 equipment, you have to use it heavily. You can never recover the cost of upgrading 10 pieces of equipment. So, if you have non-M3, try to upgrade 1-4 pieces of equipment at most, and use those heavily. Always upgrade what makes sense. Upgrading Wasp M0 weight or power is very silly.

When you click upgrade, what range does it show? Or does it not show the range for you?
-
I don't expect the best on every sale. I was expecting the BD sale to be the best of the year. I am now disappointed. Unless all you want to do is buy turrents/hulls/paints, this is the worst sale of the year, i.e. if you are interested in micro-upgrades (beyond M0). Thankfully, you can fully upgrade an M0 within a week. :) :P
-
Sorry. My mistake. Thanks.
-
The VLog said 50% off micro-upgrades all week, so which is it? Given that upgrading Thunder M3 fully without speedups takes 76 days and a fraction, even a full week is not that much. Without a discount on speedups, you should at least give a month of 50% off micro-upgrades. This is a disappointing sale. I have already seen 2 better sales in my 6-7 months of Tanki carreer.

You have to pay to confuse your enemies and friends. :)

Hey Kirby, when they introduced MUing the range for the Isida, did yours lose range and you have to upgrade it?
-
If you love it, get it. Otherwise, get a real combo. :P
-
The Twins have twice the DPS of Smoky at M2.
-
One is long range and one is medium range. What do you want? :P

Most people don't understand this language.

They need 2 weeks (without speedups) to upgrade the damage, which is the most important parameter, and that costs 140K crystals, which is a hefty chunk for a non-buyer, but doable for a buyer. He would be a third lieutenant by the time he is done, and that is not really a high rank. You are right that it was possible before but 75% of the amount. The missing 25% are not negligible. You can get the 75% now at 40% of the price. :)
-
That depends on the turrets you hate most and how far past brigadier. Is Zeus too far?
-
We don't know what your garage has. My suggestion is to buy Fire or Isida instead. If you don't like that, spend the crystals on upgrading the parameters that matter halfway by amount. You need about 1.75 million (/2) to upgrade the combo all the way.
-
The used equipment should be inferior to new equipment, like M3 working like M2.5 or something like that depending on how long it has been used, and then you'd have to upgrading at an expensive rate. :P
-
That was what I expected, because it would not have made sense any other way. Maybe they can add a parameter for projectile color or Isida beam color, etc. later. :P

This update makes the problem of early kits just slightly worse. I think the people who are welling to throw hundreds of dollars into the game are few, so it is not that big of a problem. You may be lucky and have them all in your battles though. The early kits are the real problem. I think they should be offered at most half a rank early, i.e. when you are halfway in your current rank to rank up, but making them available a few ranks before is too much. Please note though that freeloaders :) like me can afford kits. I have already bought 3 M2/M3 kits. They were not in my plans, but they were such good deals that I could not resist them.
-
Of course, you can use anything anywhere, but it is not recommended. That's why we have this thread.
-
I think the alt account part is irrelevant to the discussion. It is just a highly skilled person at some rank. The problem though is that kits with equipment that unlocks a few ranks later are available and you can buy it. That way you can end up with stuff people with a few ranks higher can't get yet. I am sure you have seen that.

Although Vulcan is the second noobest turret (according to my opinion after Twins), it is the only one (of what you mentioned) that is usable in large maps, especially Monte Carlo CTF..

The answer to your question is the same to this one: How do you feel when you are in a battle and you have M3 and your Colonel enemy has M2? How do you feel when you have M2 and your gizmo enemy has M3? The answer is: I feel it's life. You win some, and you lose some. People who hate that can join the no-upgrade battles, which I never join because I spent so much upgrading my stuff. There was no way for me to keep a stock M2 Rico from First Lieutenant until I can get an M3 Rico at Commander, while everyone else has M2 and M3 equipment that unlocks from Captain to Gizmo. Basically, you have to upgrade or buy a few turrets and/or hulls on the way to your next stock M+1. Looking at it this way, you will find that upgrading is a lot cheaper.

There is always either a discount near or far. If it is near, you wait for it. If it is far, you do not wait for it. In my short stay here, I have seen discounts every month or two. That is pretty good. You also have the stupid kits keep popping up with decent prices. You can't complain. :P
