The mine will stay there until the owner is destroyed or enemy drives over the mine. That dead space is called a hitbox, its invisible but physically exists. All props have a squared hitbox to improve the performance of the game as it doesn't have to load a bunch of complex shapes. Yes, an enemy will explode as the mine sitting on the hitbox as is the enemy.
