List of "Drug Clan" YouTube Channels
MandolinMarc replied to MandolinMarc in List of "Drug Clan" YouTube Channels Archive
Most of you probably watch a fair amount of Tanki videos on YouTube, like gold montages, parkour clips, gameplay videos, rants, ESports matches, etc. But as I've recently figured out, there's an entire world of YouTube videos produced by "drug clans" that are fascinating to watch, yet will never show up on your suggested videos tab. The gameplay in these videos is highly tactical and fast-paced, and the tension between the clans is tangible as you watch the videos. The editing is also mindblowing and often beautiful, as if the video is telling a story. And the music is flat-out killer. So in an effort to give these types of videos a wider audience, and to help expose the EN community to high level gameplay, I've compiled a list of the best drug clan YouTube channels: KOA (YT channel link) is an Arabic-speaking drug clan that has been together for over 4 years, and they're incredibly fun to watch play. They have a whopping 73 beautifully edited YouTube videos. This one is my personal favorite. Oh, and one of the requirements for joining their clan is a full M4 garage. DOT (YT channel link) is a younger Arabic-speaking drug clan that has been together for a year and a half, but their editor i.ThinK.You.NooB has already compiled 47 gameplay videos. This 10v10 Silence video vs KOA is a staple of drug videos. SF (YT channel link) is another top drug clan that speaks Arabic and English. They have a lot of longer gameplay videos, like this 8v8 against VIP. AOA (YT channel link) is an Arabic-speaking clan that has now closed, but you'll often find its former members playing with and against top drug clans. VIP (YT channel link) is a Russian-speaking clan that is famous for winning the Hardstyle tournament and receiving Acid paint. They only have a few videos on their channel, but they're definitely worth watching. And if you haven't yet seen it, the video of the final Hardstyle battle is a great watch. The less famous clan Wolves also has a few videos, and the EN community clan Regrets doesn't regularly make videos but they recently uploaded a good one. Let me know what you think of the videos, or if there are any good ones I've missed!- 23 replies

Try these steps, they usually fix a game not loading. If you still can't fix the problem, I would play the game using the Standalone Flash Player, it's generally better than any browser anyway.

Review [Issue 47] Top Ten Tanki: Needed improvements
MandolinMarc replied to Fen-Harel in Newspaper Archive
A beautifully structured article and I agree with most of your suggestions. But I find most of them relatively trivial. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it would be pretty cool to see a brainstorming article of radical ways that Tanki could be re-worked, put in a new light, etc. Maybe even a way to give Tanki some kind of backstory. -
Other [Issue 47] What makes a Good Reporter Application?
MandolinMarc replied to Fen-Harel in Newspaper Archive
I've been mulling over sending in a reporter application since I do a lot of writing, especially non-fiction writing, and I often get engaged in banter in the comments section of reporter posts. Maybe you'll hear from me sometime soon...- 48 replies

You've got a very good point. Truth be told, you can't expect too much strong team-play in mid-rank random matches. If this is what you're into, you'll find XP/BP a lot more suitable (though far from perfect). If you're after highly tactical gameplay in any other battle format (Hardstyle/Drug War or Light Format), you'll need to be in a clan.

Oh man, your post invoked some really deep sympathy from me. I've never spoken with you and I always just dismissed you as one of those reporter wannabe guys that posts a ton in the forum... but now I see my own foolishness. Your openness in this post is incredible and I really respect you for it. I've been in a somewhat similar situation as you recently with high school, but a lot less severe. My grades aren't falling, I just sometimes have trouble finding the motivation in me to get work done, even for classes that I'm interested in. That's something that hasn't been an issue for me in the past. But the situation you're in is just something else... I've never given any serious consideration to suicide as you write that you have. I'll add you on Skype when I get back home later today, I really would love to talk with you. See you then mate.

I completely agree... I love settling down with a nice long V-LOG at the end of a long week

[Issue 46] The Ultimate Reporter Showdown: Why BP is Better than XP
MandolinMarc replied to Phoenix-Warbird in Newspaper Archive
That's not the first time someone says that to me  You see, the reason why I'm writing these essays that are hurting Pho's eyes isn't because I think there's something horribly wrong with this article. It's because of some underlying views of yours that contrast with mine, especially the idea that you and I are part of a small intellectual minority that enjoy being challenged, debating issues, deeper contemplation, etc. I used to share this view to some extent, and it's a pretty long story why I no longer do. So yeah, I'd be interested in chatting on Skype to continue our discussion. By the way thanks for not taking anything I said too personally. -
Yeah exactly, you have to really love something to share it. The "poll" isn't really trying to figure out which picture tankers like better, it's just a nice way to encourage players to engage more with the page.

[Issue 46] The Ultimate Reporter Showdown: Why BP is Better than XP

Yep, I agree with you here. See what I wrote earlier: It would be ridiculous to say that an artist should completely ignore his audience and perform the same way every time, or only perform differently based on his own sentiments. But (and this is a big butt)1, an artist should not edit himself so that he performs or writes in such a way that he believes will be more pleasing to his audience. He should challenge the audience, provoke them, inspire them, and sometimes move them to place where they're not entirely comfortable being. It all depends on the atmosphere, the artist, and yes, the audience. The above seems to me like giving the audience what they're looking for. And a final thought: the audience often doesn't really know what they want. I think you're underestimating how much a reader of the TO newspaper would enjoy being pushed further in some way or another. 1 notice my impeccable use of light-hearted humor B) -

I appreciate your open-mindedness, Pho and Goldie, and it seems we're getting into a nice little debate here ourselves! :P Back to the topic at hand, I think I've found the main difference in our viewpoints. You write that "the duty of the newspaper is to write articles suited to our playerbase." I completely agree with that; the TO Newspaper is written by the community, for the community. But you then go on to write that you enjoy a deeply critical debate, but that you're writing not for the intellectual minority but for the majority. And here's where we split off. I don't believe that writing for a group of people should involve writing down to them. I spend a lot of my leisure time writing, recording, and playing music and I've found that one of the most important things for a performer is never to play down to an audience. Don't be who the audience wants you to be; be yourself. If you're deeply interested in dissonance and unresolved sad endings, don't edit yourself when you play in front of others to play music that they're more used to. What's the point of listening to a performer if he's just going to play stuff you already like? Besides, when you play music that you deeply care about, it gets transmitted through the sound, and the audience feels that the performer isn't just playing notes. He's letting something buried deep inside him come to the surface. The same holds true for writing. When you write about something you love, or when you write in a way you love, the reader can tell. And it's so darn fun to read. As a writer or a musician, you want to be aware of your audience, but more importantly you need to be aware of yourself. Also, I've been talking with Pho and she explained to me how the article came about in a very natural, light-hearted way and that it's fully intended to be packed with humor at every turn, which I understand. So, the above isn't really a response to the article, it's a response to your response to my response. ;) -

I absolutely love this. Short, sweet, and ever so touching. That tank carcass in desert is going to have a new meaning for me from now on ^_^ So anyway, did Momma never find any gold boxes? Or any repair kits falling like angels from heaven, with promises of a new life and a full health bar? -
[Issue 46] The Ultimate Reporter Showdown: Why BP is Better than XP
MandolinMarc replied to Phoenix-Warbird in Newspaper Archive
Why is there an attempt at humor in nearly every single line? If I want to laugh at some easy humor I can go watch a sitcom or something. I came here expecting an in-depth and considerate analysis of two combinations. I more or less got what I was looking for, but it was difficult to extract from this article due to the wacky format and constant humor. This is an unpopular opinion, but I feel that humor is becoming overvalued. Humor is a really powerful tool that can help man find joy in the darkest, wierdest aspects of life, and thus can make them more approachable. But it can also overshadow more complex thoughts and emotions, which blocks people from deep contemplation or inspiration. I'm not saying that the TO Newspaper should get rid of humor; some parts of this article gave me a good laugh. I'm saying it should be used with a lot more sparsity and care, because it's limiting the potential of the TO Newspaper to unite the community and help tankers find joy in the game. Don't be afraid to be serious.- 119 replies
