For @joelpro12
UTC means Universal Time Coordinates. We know that the Earth is round and revolves the sun. Since it is round, one side of the earth is lightened while the other side does not receive light. The side where there is light experiences "DAY" while the dark side experiences "NIGHT". That is why there is a time differences in our clock. Since my country's location is slightly in the east, I experience day before you since you are in the west. If we all used the same time, then it will be very problematic. So, HUMANS have developed a way to solve this problem. They have invented time zones. Time zones are not physical but a representation figure of which places experiences which time. If I live in the east, I experience the day earlier than you guys. Therefore, my time is faster than yours. The time zones represents positions in which the time is added or decreased. 0 UTC or just UTC passes through London. In London, it is 0 UTC. Suppose now it is 12 p.m. in London, but I am in Bangladesh, so time will be earlier for me. For me, I am +6 UTC, meaning I m 6 hours earlier in time. Since I am 6 hours earlier in time, a London man may wonder what is my time. If he knows that my time zone is +6 UTC, then he will just add 6 to his time. He added 6 hours with 12 p.m. and now we get 6 p.m. This is my country's time if London's time is 12. It is same for yours too. We will add the number we have of our time zones with of London. If we add our time zones with London's, then we will get our time or the person's time zone you added, if we subtract the same time zone, with ours, then we get London's time. Here is a equation:
*LONDON'S TIME IS 1:00 P.M.*
x = My time zone which is +6 UTC
y = Another person's time zone which is -8 UTC
z = London's time zone time + 0 UTC
You are y.
You want to know my time.
First find out London's time.
London's time = Your time -y
London's time=9:00 - (-8)
London's time=9:00 + 8
London's time=13:00 *international time*
You want to now find out my time.
*you know my time zone which is +6 UTC*
My time = London's time + x
My time = 13:00 + (+6)
My time = 13:00 + 6
My time= 19:00 *international time*
If you want to do it in the fastest way to find out my time then:
My time= (Your time-y) +x
My time= [9:00 - (-8)] + (+6)
My time= (9:00 + 8) + 6
My time= 13:00 +6
My time= 19:00
Thank you for your time,
