I love Skylark but it would need a lot of work. The current version is imbalanced in favor of blue team in CTF and Red team for TDM. I don’t remember how it worked for CP but I think it also favored Blue. To my knowledge, Skylark was never configured for ASL or RGB. A quick CTF fix might be to move the blue base from its cozy nest behind that building to the top of the hill beside the rectangular house. Not sure that’s enough though. Generally any map where one base is up and the other base is down will have balance problems. Cough Noise Cough.

Agree. I bought up a lot of inexpensive paints on 50% sale, so that containers would give me the expensive ones for free. It’s worked pretty well. A few weeks ago, I got Africa and I think Blacksmith from containers. I can now fool people into thinking I bought that Vulcan Mammoth kit with the impossible name, lol.

This account carries or is at least a significant contributor in 3/4 of MM battles. But I do occasionally end up in a MM battle where I can’t seem to do a thing right. My number is 91k and change, last time I checked. I don’t really care about the number. My Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, and Captain alts are clear carriers, leading 95% of every battle they play. I have no idea what their eff numbers are and I don’t care.

I’ve seen some players asking if this is the beginning of the end of Tanki Online. Reasonable question. This promotion is overtly an attempt by Alterniva to grow the Tanki X. That’s fine. Growth is good. I also get their perspective on offering a promotion to Tanki Online players. The games are so similar that Tanki Online players are the most likely customers to engage and remain active in TX. They’re right. But here on the forum, we’re cynical, and we see a lot of talk about shrinking player counts. Now the designers lure us to play a new game. We’re naturally suspicious about the conpany’s ulterior motives and concerned that this may be an attempt to speed up the decline and closure of the game we love to hate, yet can’t stop playing. But I’m with the mods on this one. Tanki Online is not throwaway, as evidenced by the significant game changes and improvements we’ve seen in the last year and a half. Now we have e-sports, a new War, and Juggernaut all on the horizon. Alterniva is not abandoning this game.

Not a peep about Juggernaut?????

^The early unlock of kits is a great reason to buy IF AND ONLY IF the kit in question has exactly what you need and want in all aspects (turret, hull, module, paint) and NONE of what you already have. You also pretty much have to buy the kit at the unlock rank. That’s a lot of stars to align. Sure it’s possible with a lot of long term planning... unless Tanki decides to change things when you’re 95% ready. But that never happens  I just can’t recommend this approach.

I’m thinking this topic is getting more attention here than it would on either existing topic. Not as many players visit the others. Despite my earlier comments, I’m still stuck on the ROI of dropping 50k on a 50% sale for only a 10% damage increase, vs losing the Freeze effect. Will the additional kills you get due to the increased damage make up for and significantly exceed the number of kills lost due to the fact that your enemy’s movements are no longer ‘slowed’. I’m also a bit bothered by the fact that I don’t use Freeze much. I am not a huge fan of its play style. Matchmaking is part of the problem. I end up on Massacre map too often to use Freeze as my go-to gun. Then there is my play style. I’m an attacker, not a camper or defender (with few exceptions). While Freeze can be effective on offense, other turrets are better. Bottom line - Freeze just isn’t for me. So for me, I can’t see Corrosive Mix as a good investment.
-
I can see both sides. Truth in advertising - I don’t own Corrosive Mix, but am considering it. Freeze attackers in team (as well as DMs) will benefit from the alteration. Since the alteration is a percentage on top of a percentage buff, it’s more valuable than it was before the buff. 10% for 100k crystals is meh, but 50k on a 50% sale is a maybe. Freeze will stay buffed for a while, so you might get that investment back and then some.

I think it is possible for free play via mission and chain rewards with ultra slow approach to ranking up. Like years to just to move three or four ranks. Also not sure about keeper kit. Where is a player that low in rank gonna find 16k crys  But I think buying kits in general is a huge waste of crystals. You don’t need the paint and you probably already have the module. .

I appreciate your debate. I will eventually buy a drone. The real reason I am delaying is that I suspect that the next three drones they release will be slightly better than the ones available now. Then the final three will be even better still. I’m afraid that if I buy and sink MU crystals in the early drones, I will have very expensive yet inferior drones. I’ve seen this movie before.
-
^Thanks LW! I’m going to take your advice and build and buff out my modules. I’m also going to keep an eye on drones but I want to see what other drones they release before making a buy.

My free-play Captain alt just upgraded his turret and hull to 10/10 = M3 strength. M3 equipment doesn’t unlock for something like another SIX ranks! And that’s early unlock kits - garage M3s are even farther away. What the heck am I going to do with this guy now? Even with free M3s, I can’t start micro-upgrading for a VERY long time. I could buy more M2s, but that doesn’t sound wise in the long run. I could buy and buff modules, but several of those have rankup restrictions above Captain. Drones? Prevailing wisdom seems to be that they are just not worth it. Save my crystals for the future? Maybe - but booooooring! Z

Luck and random chance do strange things. I play four accounts and unlock 15 containers at a time as soon as any given account has that many from mission chains. My First Lieutenant alt just got the Secret Sauce animated paint. My Legent main got Glitch, then Peru among others. My Captain alt scored Draught and a 100k crystal box. My Second Lieutenant alt snagged Lumberjack and a container paint (forgot the name). Is any one account doing better? IDK, maybe my Captain, but not significantly. But on the other hand, taken as a group, these M2 alts seem to have have scored slightly better than my Legend main. Animated paint on one - 100k crystals on another. That’s certainly leading... But this is not statistically relevant

Don’t hold your breath, my friend. We may have a modest summer sale (when Chill Bro Paint was introduced last year). The next significant sale will probably be Tanker’s Day in early September. We probably won’t see Drones on sale until at least the New Year’s Celebration. Maybe not even then. All speculation on my part.

How many golds have you gotten during this UFO Event?

1, and it was on an alt account. On the other hand, I wrecked countless wasp and hornet rigs. -
Because MatchMaking has normalized most maps, Twins is very effective if a bit annoying until you can buy the Stable Plasma Alteration. For my crystals, I would avoid kits, and stick with a solid Twins-Viking rig and gradually upgrade them along protection modules against whichever turrets seem OP at the moment. Moreover, I believe the recent module change to be revolutionary for mid-game progression. In order to stay ahead of the balance changes, you’ll need to invest in all protections and gradually MU them probably about halfway. Then whichever turret gives you the most trouble gets more MUs. ^But that’s expensive and probably only good for free play low M3 ranks. M0-M2 should focus on having ‘good enough’ protection against Railgun, Thunder, and maybe Firebird or Twins or whatever else bugs you the most. But limit how thin you spread those low rank module MU crystals.

Right now - the 50k Overdrive drone looks pretty good. Anyone have an opinion? Afraid to buy it though, bc Hull overdrives are coming.
-
I’m ready for it to be over too. I’m not having your kind of trouble, but I am getting done with running a flag, capping a point, or just trying to get from point a to point b only to have a meteor blow me off the map. Or almost as bad, get caught up in the mob chasing after it.
-
Remember I bought the old kit. Might have been different, but might have been First Lt. I don’t remember.

Today’s MU sale completes my grand M2 experiment. Background: In January I had three accounts with stock M2 kits, all in the upper Warrant Officer to Second Lieutenant ranks. Stinger, Minotaur, and Firewall. These kits had been purchased and shelved prior to the paint disintegration update of 2016, and had been collecting dust. Then Tanki added containers to mission chain rewards. Tanki had also become fairly consistent with offering MU sales every few weeks. My challenge to myself: Without spending real money, and without ranking any more than minimally necessary, maximize crystal revenue by completing missions and chains. Then use those crystals only during sales to MU each kit to M3 strength while still playing with M1 and M2 peers. The module change threw me a curve, but as of today all turrets and hulls are at 10/10 (after a few days of step delay of course). Six months later - Mission accomplished. .

iTunes and YouTube been getting into live performances lately, and I’m pulling in YouTube concerts into iTunes for later listening

Yep - assuming that wasp/hornet gets at least one box per battle, he’s doing much better than I am. But I’m not gonna complain. I enjoy actually playing this game. Not multing and exploiting events.

Must have been someone’s group. We still won, so sure...
