Premium paint has 15% protection against all turrets and mines They get 100% more crystals and 50% more xp Ideally, tanki would not have to earn money and so everyone would be on a level playing ground Unfortunately it does So premium is a way to earn money. I think premium users actually have a smaller advantage than buyers Premium paint is only 15% which is far from devastating - when paints start to get protections on specific turrets a lot above 15% it starts to be rendered obsolete. It is actually better not to earn too much xp to keep a high crystal to xp ratio, and premium only boosts the ratio by a third - it's really not too much Premium does give an advantage as it should, but premium users don't really gain that much of an edge
