If you face a player who regularly uses vulcan you might change your mind...it is often a key in turning team battles with its ability to deal large volumes of damage quickly to many targets. I am just learning to use it and have found it to be very effective mounted to medium and heavy hulls.
-
It is incredibly helpful in CTF and CP...I use it to eat the health down on multiple enemies from midrange. Pairing it with a magnum just softens defenses so much it makes it much easier for your team to escape with the flag
-
It was my main hull until upper ranks. Switched over to titan for more health. I am now switching back...it is just more versatile than the titan Just wait till m2 smoky and almost all m3 turrets knock those vikings everywhere. It was so hard to land shots in upper ranks with the viking.
-
I forgot the pushing power of hunter as well. It sits btw but other than mammoth and dictator is the most powerful hull. Also good for grabbing golds.
-
I agree with your ideas here. My only objection is that Rico is really not OP. It's limited energy (i.e., shots) keeps it from being OP. Twins, however,...now that is a totally different story:)
-
I prefer Hunter over viking for rail... 1) much more stable when under fire 2) easier to rock Hope that helps!
-
Just pay attention to your sight lines...you can move faster and slowly eat away the health of a shaft if you know where he is. You can NOT however stand still and simply try to win at head-to-head with a shaft at a distance. You will get wrecked every time. Try peek-a-boo, moving and shooting, etc. Hope that helps. Vulcan can be a great turret on team boards.

Have you received an answer on this yet? I am experiencing the same thing and the rewards didn't seem to have been applied.
-
Today I noticed that there is no bonus shown after a battle for those with premium account. Is this a new change? Or is it simply a bug/glitch? [edit] I found the mention of this in the "War" notes. What it doesn't answer is whether or not the reward in crystals is doubled and just not reported or not? Please confirm if we still get 100% bonus on crystals. Thanks ahead of time.

I've gotten in the habit of hitting a double speed as soon as I see a freeze approaching. It helps as well...
-
And no crit hits:(
-
You definitely have to rapidly start turning the hull and turret asap to have any hope when facing a freeze w/o protection for it
-
True, it makes the brick player pay more for removing the splash damage. I actually like it. Helps ever so slightly, but does help in large assault teams.
-
I prefer the long distance alt and deal with splash damage as it comes. With a fast enough hull it is normally not an issue. Unlike Magnum and Thunder. Correct...keep moving and keep some space or you will self damage.
-
Absolutely...but you better be sure. You will be unable to re-engage the alt for quite a while.
-
Just noticed you ranked up! Congrats!
-
Thanks for your helpful remarks on finding a solid wall to brace against. I am not that smart:) I hate getting knocked around with shaft. I'll try it.

I completely agree with you on this point. The old hunter was hard to beat IMO. The new viking I thought was identical...turns out I was wrong. Once I invested the crystals to get it to m4, I realized it didn't have all the stability I needed vs higher ranking opponents. I have struggled with it and invested in the titan to m4. Much better...just made capping a flag highly unlikely:)
-
Not sure...twins is definitely an easy turret to score with, but the alterations have their limits too. Just build up your twins prot asap if you are finding yourself getting dominated by them. Also notice if they are using the long range alt...if they are, then definitely close quarters combat will inflict great self-harm to them. Usually enough to allow me to limp off after the encounter.
-
IF you are fortunate enough to have an isida on your team that understands the domination that can result in pairing up a vulcan and an isida into a death machine, you are right. I can't understand some of the teams I am on...we will lose unnecessarily with an isida never healing or helping my titan/vulcan combo. When I use the m4 isida, I first look for a vulcan depending on the battle kind.

This reply was meant to go to ghost-guns:I did the opposite: buffed thunder protection to 45% and use with twins and rico protection. To counteract rail I use M4 viking + DA B) I am not sure if I communicated clearly on my first comment. What I meant to say was that I quit using the turrets (Thunder and Rail) for a while. Instead I switched to using Smoky, Twins, and Rico. Now with MM going on, I have noticed fewer Thunder protections, hence I am beginning to find success with using the Thunder Turret once again. Hope that is more clear:)
-
Oh yeah, you are approaching this the right way. Choose one combo and max it out! When you hit M3 then you can branch out...but still focus on getting one combo to M4 first. Love Rico!!!! Do you have the m2 alt? It is a very devastating alt IMO.
-
My philosophy has been choose one light, one medium, and one heavy hull. One midrange, close range and long range turret. I began with medium and midrange first because I used to choose my battles. Once they were m4, I moved to heavy and long range. Working on light and close range now. With the new MM it is nice to be able to adjust based on the map.
-
In my opinion it is unstable. A smoky can still jack you around on the corners. The speed is great however...also having 3k health is much better when dealing with damage from close range turrets. As I mentioned, I am going to MU my hunter and see how it fares in the same scenarios and compare them. Right now I am using the Titan more and more. It doesn't have the speed, but is so solid in battle. I get hit more often from rails, but it has improved my results overall.
-
If you are tank to tank that close, then you might be having an issue of landing a shot IF (and only if) there is a large discrepancy in heights...such as dictator and viking or something like that. The other day I was circle strafing a hunter with my titan and when we actually touched, I quit doing damage. The vulcan couldn't shoot down enough to land any damage on him. I had to circle a little further away.
