Episode 169 of the V-LOG is live!

I just tried playing TO now. Need CTF exp for a mission. Five different games tried and every one of them I find myself on a blowout POS noob team. So I quit TO entirely. I have the mission open now becaue last night I had the same experience. Not a single available CTF was worth playing. So I quit playing TO entirely. It is understandable why the TO company does not want that situation. THAT'S the lame POS status quo the complainers here are defending. Matchmaking will give me a 50% chance of landing on the non-noob team. That's tremendously better chances than what we have now. Bring on Matchmaking!

That all battles will be full is a benefit not a loss. For a few weeks. BFD. You are welcome to make completely irrational decisions based on this change but I doubt few other players will reach the same decision to undermine their own progress. Since the Vlog explicitly said this will not happen why do you post that it might? Christ almighty.

For me the mission chain changes are fine as are 10 minute battles. In the long run the missions chains give every active player more income. 10 minutes or 15 minutes? Meh. Not a big enough difference to get worried over. + Unless you stop playing TO you will get more in the long run than you do now. Why the p*ssing and moaning over getting more? If you do not keep playing TO what does it matter? You have the exact figures. The new week 10 is exactly equal to the old week 4 + 1 container. I cannot see how. The more days skipped between missions the less that player earns. Why the nostalgia for 15 minute battles when we both long agree than 90% of TO battles are lopsided wins for one of the two teams? 10 minutes is long enough for a shoot-em-up game. The only "abuse" you describe is a player abusing his own income. What do you care if a player does not complete missions for a few days in order to get something they like playing more? That player is losing income to do that. That is the opposite of "abuse".

Episode 168 of the V-LOG is live!

Last time I tried it capturing a flag in ASL mode does not repeat not count for the Capture Flags missions. For me it is the polar opposite. If I do not have missions to work towards I almost always find TO less interesting to play. And the Custome battles are always 99% valueless to me. You can take breaks now. It would be the same thing as the system you predict will happen. No one is forcing you to play TO. I reckon the odds TO does what you predict at about 0.00000001%. Never say never. ----match ---- making --- match ---- making ----- match --- making ------- Come onnnn Matchmaking. Having a 50% chance of getting on a decent team is better than the current odd of about 10%. Right now 90% of all games at any given moment are either * Full up at 10x10 * Blowouts * Major rank disadvantages Sure it looks like there's a lot of game to choose from. But mst are games you won't want to choose. (I don't have to worry about the rank disavantages much if any any more, but it is a hard road at the lower ranks.)
  5. ThirdOnion is correct Plus planning and focus in spending investments. I earn more exp than "just enough" but yes the bulk of my play is to do missions. Yes for me I am on pace for Legend rank after about 3 years of play. But here's the crucial fact about that: There's no tangible point to reaching Legend. It's just something that happens if you play this game long enough.

    Let's Discuss Striker!

Yep and you do not have to expose for long. Launch the missile and you are behind cover before it hits. Floating damage numbers are your pal. I can hit things like this, and do. The learning curve is very long and discouraging. But after playing it for a year, in the last month or two I am feeling almost as confident in my aim as I do with Smoky. It is a lot of fun to sail a missile through a gap 100m away in order to hit an enemy 50m beyond the gap. They do not see THAT coming and that is what makes it fun. :) I've been stacking up a lot of games with >30 kills, <10 deaths lately. It does do a buttload of damage if it hits regularly. Striker obviously needs some sort of boost because most players will not put a year into learning it. But whatever they do it should be aimed at making the turret easier for new-users. Not so much a benefit to veteran users. If a change is too strong it will turn Striker into the next hated OP turret like today's Magnum. (Fair is fair. My Striker account right now is at one of those rank points when my mu10 gear is usually better than most my opponents'. But gear level does not affect aiming accuracy much.) Any time you are on a higher level than your targets it is feeding time for strikers. Just back up as you shoot and your missile will head downward. It is fish in barrel shooting time. Highland for instance is a killing field.

    Let's Discuss Vulcan!

Wasp if by 'best' you mean 'a hella lotta fun'. If you can accept the fact you will flip over a lot.
  8. :) Actually all my accounts have Sandstone and Tundra as Willie-Approved camo patterns. (Which also includes Winter, Flora, and Forester.) I like Ibris but that's sorta pricey IIRC. So far Brittle's nicest (imo) container-found Paint is Sahara. Worst is Zombie.
  9. MajGen BrittleWillie supplies reserves are nearing 9,000 each with about 3,300 RKs. m2_10/10 gear: 1 Isida, 2 hulls, 5 modules and the mine module. Not a dime of real money spent. There's literally nothing for me to spend Cry on until I rank up to LtGen when m3 modules start to unlock. So no Tanki ain't "pay to win".

    Let's Discuss Vulcan!

Well if Matt and sezze both have sen the RK failure bug it must be there. I will now look to see if it happens to me. Thanks to sezze100 for the workaround tip. I miss Deathtrack and Parma those were great Vulcan/Wasp maps. Desert is usually fun but you usually die more. Cowabunga!

I have not seen this that I ever noticed at least. Are you sure there was no splash damage catching you when you saw this? There are no visual indicators for when you are getting splashed so it can go undetected. As for the overheating, no it has not been solved. But that should not abort an RK. RK's cure overheating.

    Let's Discuss Overdrives

I posted a suggestion before that all 7 hulls should keep the current OD. Dictator should be given a completely new one. Then the player would active the 'generic' OD or the hull-specific OD in the grage. Just as turret alterations are chosen. We essentially agree. The current OD is so powerful that all hulls must have access to it or no hull have access to it. As for the hornet OD as proposed IIRC it also ignores enemies' resistance modules when the OD is active.
  13. Let's hope it is the last thing they do on this list. They might have realized the impossibility of creating 7 overdrives each as useful and popular as the rest. Maybe this will just be another announced project that never happens. eg The way the turret alteration project just ended less than half-complete.

    Let's Discuss Striker!

That is a good Striker tip video. It was interesting to watch it again. The Dynamite player does know how to use it well. It is also intereesting to me to see it used on a Viking. I've not used it on a medium hull. 3rdOnion pointed out why the 'vertical lob' with Striker is so rare. It comes in handy more for hitting tanks hiding down-ramp than behind low walls as in the example. But whenever it you can pull it off it is fun. :) Another thing that is rare but fun is when you have begun a lock-on on a medium-long range target, when a fast firebird (e.g.) comes charging at you. You maintain the lock on on the distant target but when the salvo begins turn the turret towards the fast-attacker. Even though the missiles want to home in on the long-range target their path makes them hit the fast-charger first. The missiles still blow up. :) This is fun but the combination of circumstances is also quite rare. OTOH the fast-chargers do not expect it. Titan is far nimbler than most people credit at least on SB. Turning hull and turret together is pretty fast on Striker/Titan. I've blasted many a firebird etc trying the high-speed circle strafe. But yeah on the hornet it is crazy fast rotation. Sometimes I fight at short range by using the lock on while I dodge their shots. It is very similar to using Isida on hornet at close range. Drive like crazy while keeping the turret aimed at the foe. That is another tactic few expect from Striker. I've not used Striker on the wasp. Too much is being made of that gif. Splatter's point was only that Striker does not adjust for slight vertical offsets like the other 12 turrets do. Striker single-shot is the only TO weapon the tanker has to manually adjust the vertical angle of the shot by slight hull movements. I agree 100% on the importance of picking the right mode to use. The thing is you must decide correctly and instantly. Indecisiveness means a delay and that can mean a failed attack opportunity. Or a failed kill before being killed yourself. It is just a darn difficult turret to use. The learning curve is long with a shallow slope.

    Cosmonautics Day has landed!

The next Matchmaking attempt will not be the same as that one. I for one look forward to its arrival. Five Magnums won't be in every Silence game and seven Shafts in every one on Brest, for examples. This things are almost always perception. Even I am sure TO can move a parameter decimal one place.

No. Games involve trade offs. Lt hulls are faster but are easier to kill. So don't rely on the meteor to do the killing for you.

    Let's Discuss Striker!

If you scoll back 8-10 pages I once left a bunch of tips to using striker. Single shots are a must for this. You have to learn to aim them. Find an empty map and practice shooting at terrain features at long range. Know that when you are moving forward your nose tips up slightly and you sill shoot high. When backing up your nose tips down slightly and you will shoot low. Learn to use this to fine-tune your vertical aim. For horizontal aim you have to leav a moving target. You can practice this by shooting at a terrain feature while moving fast on a SB. Yes, remember which side it is shooting next. Savlos are great when you can use them. Knowing when to use salvo or singles comes from experience. Last tip for now: Splash is your firend. Shoot walls, the ground, trees, even team-mates near enemies. You do not have to hit the enemy tank just something near it. Splash can find enemies hiding behind walls or in tunnels before you see them directly. Good luck with it.

    Cosmonautics Day has landed!

Obviously TO has decided Alteration sales will be very rare. Probably because they are not overly expensive anyway. The ones worth buying are worth buying at full price. Those not worth buying aren't worth buying at half price. It's a one-time cost. I doubt it. I cannot recall a sale on XT stuff.

    Cosmonautics Day has landed!

Well another big 50% MU sale. 15 more module upgrades here we go. BrittleWillie will have every item owned at m3 and still ~70k exp to MajGen. (2 hull 1 turret 5 modules + mine module). TO has many flaws but Pay-to-Win is not won of them. Wow dude that's like ... five ... things! Greedy :P When you cancel the units that answer is expressed in terms of meters per degree Kelvin. IOW the warmer the day the larger the splash. :o This is how the game is structured. Events will always be this way.

    April Fool's is finally here!

In nearly two years in this game one constant truth is the things "everybody knows" in Tanki Online are wrong. I've never seen an online game with so many long-term player that do not know their own game. My hypothesis is that all those Sandbox games are to blame. All the Pro section offers is stuff like 30 Sandbox games most of them 1x1 or 2x2. And of course countless 2x2 or 3x3 Island games. And a bunch of 3x3 or 4x4 Hill games. And of course the endless Noise and CP poly drive into the middle and die "Skill" extravaganzas. You do not learn how to play a real team game when you spend all your game time just spawning charging into the middle and dying all in the name of grinding exp and Cry. I do not own Railgun so I cannot play XP. But a mode with one weapon and only light hulls is a very restricted environemnt. Being a good XP players does not mean you can play in an open game with a real team and a variety of opponents. If XP taught the skills you claim it teaches then I would not find so many bad oppoents in TO. I am mnot usually good at games like TO. But I am good at TO mostly because most of my opponents are realy really bad.

Virtually every word in error. Sounds like you'd rather be playing Donkey Kong than a tank game. I do not play "pro" battles because 99% of them are boring mindless grinder games for plaeyrs with no real team game skills. OK? Ok.

So many WATBs. So according to this genius all hacks cheats exploits and mults should be allowed, because "not everyone" does them.
