    "My Flag" -complainers

They took the flag. The responsibility of safely capturing that flag is now on them. If you get killed right before you capture and someone comes and caps the flag while you're respawning, it's like they're profiting off of your hard work. Out of courtesy, if someone died right before capturing a flag, I will hold onto it until they come back (if they respawn nearby) and give it to them. if they spawn far away, well, I'm capturing it. When being generous like this, look out for enemies coming. If enemies are coming, don't risk it, just capture it. They'll still get points for holding the flag before it was captured. Sometimes, offence in teams is a one-man's show. Other times, it's a team effort. But the fact still stands that you're not getting the full points because you were unfortunate enough to be targeted, and the other person is fortunate enough to get the flag to capture. Your tolerance to this can also be affected by what hull takes the flag. I'd happily let a Dictator take the flag so that its Overdrive is charged faster, which would benefit him and our teammates. And with Dictator's Overdrive, you'd be getting more Overdrive charge from it than you would from capturing the flag. This is an issue you're going to have to live with when getting stars is a top priority.

    Let's Discuss Hunter!

I can see the metal on Prime clearly. LGC does look like an M0 skin. This was the first Hornet LGC* I saw back in that challenge. Unless you saw the front of the hull, it looks like a full M0 Hornet with the right paint.

Encountered one earlier. With the right paint, it looks like M0 from afar.

    Let's Discuss Juggernaut

Haven't played JGR in a while, but it looks like this mass AFK thing is still happening, ann with a certain characteristic as well. Mine was almost all of the players being the same rank, while this one has the AFK players being Wasps.

Your Thoughts After Your 50% Purchases

I've been deemed too indecisive and I decided to buy Assault Rounds and High-Precision Aiming System for Smoky and spend the rest on micro-upgrades. I am dissatisfied with H-PAS. I am satisfied with Assault Rounds for now. I came out of some battles that were riddled with Magnum protections. 'Twas only a matter of time until a mass equipping of Magnum protection modules happened. And man, those INEFIBLES. I really don't like it when I'm put against them. They're legitimate but they always find a way to cheese gameplay together. It could just be my tunnel vision for them but I feel as if they have some history with players in the game.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

It's been a problem for a while. It's amazing the number of Vikings doing this though. I sometimes give them the benefit of the doubt and pin that outcome on server latency/different perspectives for different players, but this almost completely takes away what was detrimental to Viking.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

Nope. My Hunter is stable but it is not anchored to the ground. I still receive impact force that affects my aim. I can't fight a Twins when I use isida. It pushes my Hunter up constantly and I'm wasting energy while I'm doing little to do damage with my Isida. My close to M3 Hunter gets knocked around as well, but it isn't like the insane ragdoll that Viking is for me. A slight shift in the Hunter's hull could mean the shot totally missing. Just like a slight shift in the Hunter's hull could mean the Thunder, Smoky, Gauss, Railgun, Shaft shot etc. missing.

    Let's Discuss Matchmaking

Unfortunately, the new scoring system for DM (and maybe Juggernaut, I haven't played a JGR battle in a long time) favours non-self-damage turrets.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

The downsides are having to be within the sight of the enemy for you to gain score, the new projectile gravitation to get used to (although you two got that down pretty quickly), and...the third one more or less is a subset of the first downside so it would be redundant. This alteration is more aggressive than the others. If you want to be on the front lines with Magnum, this is the alteration for you. Keep in mind that because you can now rotate horizontally, you are subject to the same treatment all of the other turrets are, such as getting your aim knocked off while you're peek-a-booing. Vertical magnums can just hide behind the wall and shoot the enemies.

Your Thoughts After Your 50% Purchases

Well done. Glad you liked it. You're welcome :) It'll really help when the enemy team has 3 or more Magnums. Your teammates would just be dropping like flies while you make it further to the enemy base. Twins just isn't for me. I gave it another try some weeks ago but that was almost 150k crystals wasted. I should have waited 2 more days to get the Guard kit. For a player like me who uses a heavy splash damage turret with a light hull, it's not going to help me out if the enemies nearby have supplies activated. Stable Plasma Twins should be able to scare them off when they see you spawn with supplies. Try using it in CP.

Your Thoughts After Your 50% Purchases

But just because of that Overdrive, I'd use it with Hornet the most. You should try being a bit more offensive. Stock Isida's healing power isn't high anymore. I already have that on one account. As I'm playing against Legends, it would be wise to fully upgrade my Shaft as soon as possible. This account is the only account I prepared for the sale and I'm still indecisive. For a few battles before the sale, I felt as if I didn't have much variety to compete. Magnum and Isida are my only turrets that reliably get good scores. When I use Hammer, Striker or Smoky, I end up either in the middle or at the bottom. I'm trying to branch out and pick up other turrets, it's just really hard to pick one that I'd have the least buyer's remorse with. Thunder is out of the question, as well as Twins. If I buy Shaft, it would be with Assault Emitters and Heavy Capacitors, and not RFM. Considering Vulcan but I use that on 2 of my 5 accounts. Considering Gauss but I'm sure that that will be nerfed soon. I wanted to stay away from melee turrets. If anything, I'd buy Freeze over Firebird. I might end up just buying a protection module. I already have enough Drones that suit my playstyle.

    Let's Discuss Overdrives

It's damage is impressive though. I hit someone for 5594 damage some minutes ago. Edit: While Magnum has to put in a bit more effort to hit their shots compared to others, its damage makes up for that effort. And if you have Mortar, well, that's about 8-11 mines on the ground now if each shot didn't hit anyone. And just because it didn't hit anyone, doesn't mean it didn't do damage. So you're slowly weakening the enemies and then planting a minefield. And some of that minefield can stay if the Mortar is using the Miner Drone. I think Magnum with Viking's Overdrive is one of those that should be feared the most, that tied with Railgun, Thunder, Hammer and Freeze.
  18. TheCongoSpider

    Let's Discuss Overdrives

Confirmed, it does give directly a 4x damage boost with the Overdrive and double damage. The case is the same for Freeze, and because of that, I am sure that it is like that with Firebird as well. Isida gets a 25% increase in damage when using double damage with Viking's Overdrive, resulting in 4x damage from without the Overdrive.

    September challenge

I'm not sure about that. I've only ever noticed the decrease when the enemies are not wearing protections against me. I'll test this.
  20. The parameters on the Stock version are what influences the power of the alterations. Magnum has no alteration that directly increases damage with each shot. Each alteration (except Mortar) deals the same damage per shot. Oh, that's how you viewed it? I didn't see it as encouraging long distance shots, but more that it incentivises shots with higher velocities. AGLM only reloads a shot faster than Stock Magnum if it shoots a 100% velocity shot at most 0.6 seconds after it fully charged to 100%. This is with consecutive shots, and not just a one-shot kill, then move on and charge up for the next enemy, that is where Stock magnum prevails in reload time. But I can see how you thought it encourages long-range shots. Since those are consecutive shots, its reload will be faster than Stock Magnum, and in that specific scenario, better than Stock. I'm not sure if it gives "a lot more" flexibility, given that we must be in the sight of the enemy to kill them, while the vertical Magnums can be behind walls and kill them safely. RGC Magnum acts like it would if it were a Thunder. Since it shoots horizontally, it is subject to the same treatment the horizontal turrets are treated to. I won't lie that it gives them more flexibility, just not "a lot more". See, Mortar got a buff to its damage decrease, meaning it deals more damage per shot now than it did before the buff. That's a change for itself that is not tied to Stock magnum's performance, but what influenced Mortar's power that came from Stock Magnum was the reload time. The decreased clean reload time allows for more mines to be planted at once than before. You change the parameters for Stock, you change them for the alterations as well, which can result in them becoming directly/Indirectly buffed or nerfed. Mortar is confirmed more rewarding to use than Stock. I'd say RGC is more rewarding as well as you can see where your shots land and actually put in a velocity that you know (from days of practice) will hit them. AGLM is more rewarding under stricter conditions, but Stock magnum cna still do better than it.
  21. TheCongoSpider

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

I use RGC most of the time so mine is welded at 3. When I used to play with vertical Magnum, I change my angle for each enemy depending on the map and their position. I don't really have a "fixed" angle suitable for most maps. I try to experiment with different angles, but if you don't want to mess yourself up with all these new angles to remember, then it is perfectly fine to use 30-40 with any velocity as long as you know it can hit the target with the right velocity. Back when Magnum was first introduced, I used it as a short-mid range attacker with my angle at 4 degrees and my velocity at 100% for most shots. That usually directly hit anyone in front of me and at a good distance away from me as well. I'd sometimes use 6 degrees with it to reach a bit further but not too far.

    September challenge

An M3 Freeze with a max-levelled Brutus Drone will deal more damage than an M3 Corrosive Mix Freeze. 10% extra damage opens up new possibilities for some turrets, nullifies drawbacks for select alterations, as well as heighten some turrets' survivability in particular interactions. Thunder gets more leeway to one-shot light hulls. Smoky's critical hit get a good damage boost, as well as its non-critical shots. Striker gains the (rare) ability to one-shot light hulls. Firebird isn't really affected as much as Freeze and Isida. They are able to save 1-3 ticks of ammo since they can kill enemies faster. Twins and Ricochet get 10% more damage on each shot, which will add up and you'd die quicker. Shaft's arcade shot will be able to kill medium hulls in 2 shots on average, making RFM something medium hulls should fear more if encountered with a max-levelled Brutus Drone. Vulcan gets additional DPS that can solve the problem of enemies going behind cover on 1 HP. Hammer will gain the ability to one-shot light hulls if at least 8 of the 9 pellets hit the light hull. At the moment, it needs all 9 pellets to hit in order to kill them. Railgun will have more leeway to one-shot medium hull, but its damage increasing alterations (as well as EA"S") will benefit greatly from it. LCR will guaranteed one-shot M3 light hulls, and has much more leeway to one shot M4 light hulls. Magnum's average damage will increased a good bit above the threshold for one-shotting an M4 medium hull, as well as getting more leeway to one-shotting M4 light hulls. Gauss' sniping shot has more leeway to one-shot light hulls. Gauss will only require 2 arcade shots to kill a medium hull compared to 3 without the Drone. Those are some of (if not all) the things that the Brutus Drone allows M4 turrets to do.
  23. Magnum is currently overpowered, you have that correct. Let me just say that Magnum protection does wonders for your survivability in Legend battles these days. Magnum has been getting constant clean reload time buffs. While they affect each modification, the higher modifications are affected the most. With every change, the M3/4 Magnums get much more powerful compared to the M1/2. The splash damage distribution is worse than gauss' splash damage distribution, just keep that in mind. Gauss deals more splash damage overall than Magnum. Me saying that isn't me saying that Magnum is not overpowered or "not as overpowered as people make it out to be". It clearly is. I main Magnum and Isida on this account. I mostly use Magnum these days. You can take a look at these scores that I got from using it with the Reinforced Gun Carriage alteration (the one that allows it to rotate horizontally) with Hornet. My scores were too high consistently, almost as if it were an infallible META. Of course, in order to be hitting these direct shots, Magnums have to aim, and know what % velocity and at what angle to shoot at a target. With RGC, you no longer have the velocity meter, as well as having another projectile gravitation to get used to. So basically, with enough practise, you can know how long to charge up to hit particular enemies in particular positions. Magnum rewards the players who practise. But after these past few buff, it rewards anyone at this point. You may not do as well as the skilled Magnum players, but you'd still be doing well. I hope this reply satisfies you. It is best to buy magnum protection as soon as possible (if it's really that much of a nuisance for you), or you can wait it out to see if it gets nerfed in the next balance change (which I hope it will).

Now, some of you may be asking, what is @ALEX22THEBEST's recipe for success. Well, I'm not so sure. For one, he utilises his Overdrives in the best situations. He knows when to avoid attacking and when to engage. He makes good use of the Corrosive Mix alteration for Freeze. All of that...with a Brutus Drone. Could the Brutus Drone be part of the key to his/her success? Perhaps.

What to buy? Which is better?

This will be best used with your Viking. Its low stature allows most of your shots to directly hit and not go over the target's head. With RGC, you'd have to get used to the new projectile gravitation (assuming that you are accustomed with the vertical Magnums' projectile gravitations). Start with 100% velocity shots. This is the maximum distance you can achieve with a shot. Once you get accustomed to that, start scaling down the velocities and see where each shot hits. Keep in mind that there is no velocity meter to show you what % it is at when charging. the only things you have to go off of is your gut (after many, many hours of playing RGC Magnum), and the ammo bar draining down. You've seen me play with it, and incorporating all of that will ensure maximum efficiency. Magnum protection is a must, or at least a high priority if you're going to be playing with Magnum. This was me back in a previous sale. I had M2 Smoky with Incendiary Rounds and I was unsure whether or not to buy M3 Smoky. Looking at the statistics, M2 Smoky is very close to M3 Smoky, to the point where the increase in statistics wasn't worth the price. If you're going to buy M3 Smoky, you'd need to upgrade it as fast as possible. I have trouble doing well with Smoky at the moment and it's M3 5/20. Only if you think you can handle it. Works well with Titan as the stability helps with the poor tracking when under fire. Gauss with Viking's Overdrive is really great when you're not interrupted. A part of me was considering buying Railgun and LCR for it to see how well that does at M3 vs M4s. I would say that EA"S" goes more well with Hornet's Overdrive than Viking's Overdrive - for one, Stock Railgun deals more damage than it. If you plan to use that with Viking, don't expect to get those sextuple kills like LCR Railguns get, especially if they have protection against you, which is another reason it is better with Hornet. LCR would be better with Viking's Overdrive. And you can also get the added bonus of one-shotting a few light hulls from full HP, without double damage. Twins just isn't for me. I have no say in this one. Perhaps. With that, you'd strike back at the Shafts you oh so hate. But with that, you'd also become the one thing you swore to destroy. You're not going to destroy full HP M3 medium hulls with 2 shots, so remember than you need all 3 shots to kill them. The penalty on the energy recovery rate becomes more lenient the further you go up in modifications. At M3, you're looking at a 6.45-second reload after a sniping shot or 3 consecutive arcade shots. Your sniping shot will only kill light hulls. A few upgrades will allow you to one-shot M4 light hulls. A few more upgrades would nullify the defense boost given by the light hulls' drones.
