@asem.harbi I think more people would be using Smoky if it was OP, but the high damage per shot turrets (like Rail & Shaft) seem to be more popular, especially when combined with Hornet's OD Don't expect any sympathy from me about its impact force; any Shaft that takes on a skilled Smoky face-to-face and struggles to get a hit whilst getting knocked about deserves to get killed

It is. On this account I'm already at Tier 14 after just doing some missions (but not all of them) whereas before I was ignoring the challenges because the XP cost was far too high. I'll probably get 4 extra containers per month (Tier 20 x 2) from challenges now instead of none. And 8/15 missions is better than 10/20, even though the difficulty of earning crystals missions has been doubled, which doesn't bother me that much. Doubling the difficulty for every daily mission would have been a problem. Increased XP still sucks, but the mission changes are a good thing overall for me. (edit: but that's for a casual player for whom completing challenges has always been impossible; for people who regularly complete challenges, these changes might make that more difficult)

category Ideas for Hulls and Overdrives!
SporkZilla replied to Ilia.ArchangeI in Ideas and Suggestions
I don't play with heavy hulls (too slow), so it's a bit academic, but I was disappointed when I found out that Ares couldn't do things like this: My preferred solution as a keyboard user would be using W/A/S/D to move the tank around, with wherever the turret is pointing being "forwards", and Q/E to rotate the hull left and right and point the BFG in any direction But another way of doing it would be having a toggle key that switches between W/A/S/D for the turret as described above and W/A/S/D for the hull where it's identical to the existing keyboard controls -
@Viking4s I got it for free, so ? Not ugly at all, best proportioned hull in the game (ultra version is ugly though)
-
@At_Shin They could use the "C" key to make the hull turn to where the turret is pointing instead of how it works now (I never use the "C" key), but your idea sounds good I don't think there is a maneuvering problem, just a missed opportunity I think Ares would be more interesting if players could drive it like a normal hull, but be able to fire the BFG in more directions instead of forwards and backwards (driving in reverse)
-
You can't do this: You should be able to drive Ares like you would fly a helicopter
-
It's a trade-off I suppose. If you want the advantages of hovering, then there has to be a disadvantage My biggest issue with Ares' is the lack of additional controls, you should be able to move the hull left / right / forwards / backwards and be able to point the hull / BFG in any direction by rotating it left or right
-
@E_polypterus Heavily armored, so lots of HP and slow But a hovercraft isn't going to have as much traction as something with tracks, so it will be easy to push around What doesn't make sense is Ares' low speed because it only has to deal with air resistance instead of air resistance + rolling resistance, but maybe the anti-gravity feature (and OD) needs so much power that there's not much left for movement Or maybe the anti-gravity feature creates a not-friction resistance between the hull and the ground, like an eddy current brake, but that would also make it harder to push ?

I've been doing minimum activity on my accounts since XP increased, usually managing to complete 10 missions (now eight) every week while averaging 5000 XP per week But it's like being on diet and sometimes I've taken one bite of the XP pizza and ended up eating the whole thing, like this: Carnage and very expensive in XP (I became Jug when I got killed), but just under 8K XP for that account this week isn't the end of the world

I'm keeping my distance from Hopper with Hunter / Smoky and using my OD on other hulls, but Hopper OD is a bit OP But also having a lot of fun killing Hoppers from a far, killed five in a row in my last battle, like shooting fish in a barrel
-
I love it when Hoppers jump on to the top of buildings, they are easy kills
-
double experience again...
-
This could be better on balance, only 8 missions to do per week (and I often avoid crystal missions anyway) and earning a lot more stars (rarely getting beyond tier 3 of challenges at the moment)

Voila! Zut alors! Sacre bleu! Mon Dieu! ??

Open fire! All weapons!

On this account (Colonel, but ranking up soon) I'll have a GS of 6840 on Monday when I'll have a Mk6/10 hull, Mk6/10 turret, and three 35% modules Any augments add up to 200 points to that But some of that was luck with the Mk update I think a Colonel should have at least 6000+ GS without augments, a Mk6/10 turret or hull + a Mk5/10 turret or hull + three 25-30% modules

It would be nice if the outlines and radar were optional things, and turning them off would mean that other players couldn't see your outline or see you on the radar (similar to how non-passive radar is used in real life in some military situations, using radar gives away your position so you don't use it all the time) But unfortunately, I think the outlines and radar are there to stop mobile players from getting massacred by desktop players, and the advantage that a desktop player would gain by turning them off to be stealthy would be too much

@Marcus moving them smoothly isn't really a thing because the people that like (or merely tolerate) the HTML5 version are already playing it, and the people who hate it are still playing the Flash version I don't think crippling the Flash version is going to persuade anyone still using Flash to move; they will only make that move (and not all of them will) when they are forced to on the 1st of December The restrictions have stopped players like me from using the Flash version to check / change missions and some other things, but they haven't made me move to the HTML5 version because I stopped playing battles in the Flash version months ago because of in-game errors and the HTML5 camera fix At the moment the restrictions are just annoying people and eroding any remaining goodwill between the players and the devs I think they should either kill the Flash version now or leave it until December with no restrictions (and hassle pop-ups)

@suspended I think most people would buy a Mk7 product kit with 5000 (+390) tankoins, so nope
-
@fghjkl54 Time to say goodbye to my nice MK2 Hunter & Smoky skins and say hello to the ugly MK3 ones
-
Not double XP again, can't you stick to 4X as the maximum rate (obviously not going to back to the old rate now, ever) for non-premium players and just double the funds for special events?
-
@krish123-super The Big Mac index is an example of Purchasing power parity (PPP) Main thing is that exchange rates of currencies only tell you so much So if I were to go and work somewhere where a typical monthly salary might be a few hundred dollars per month, I'd have to look at what a few hundred dollars can buy there instead of compare it to a typical monthly salary where I live
-
I also think Smoky is wrong (I've got 1450 hours on Smoky now), anyone who puts a brick on their space bar with Smoky isn't going to do very well, even with autocannon
-
I've encountered a few Hoppers in CTF battles and they make life very difficult for bad teams But its OD is daft; I cornered one and it just jumped over me plus stun & burn I survived and manage to get a critical shot (but no kill) on the Hopper, but by the time the stun wore off it was nearly on the other side of the map (Highways)

Yeah, some of the prices baffle me I could buy the premium version of MS Flight Sim. 2020 for €130, and I'm never going to spend more than €60 / year on an online game (on TO it's spread over four accounts, have spent money to get extra containers during Wars in the past because it was good value) I'm glad some people are spending crazy amounts of money and keeping TO afloat because I can't
