    Anyone here from old Tanki?

It sounds awesome flae, but remember that 700 fund in the old days is 7000 fund nowadays. Which is very hard-come-by. In all honesty, you are more likely to get a gold box nowadays than the old days. They come generally more commonly. I miss the old 700 fund days, but I prefer the gold of nowadays. Who remembers these???? http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=34537 http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=33245
  2. To be honest, the majority of applications were VERY poor. However, I found No. 3 the funniest. And that shows you how small the humour content was in this contest.
  3. Apologies for not so many articles this time round guys. Hope you still enjoy the writing. Check out the Contest GoldRock created! It should be epic!

    My compilation of piano covers.

Oops. You confused me for a second there, as its actually "F# F# G A G# F#". But yeah, I get the point. It was actually accidental. Purely a mistake. Yes, believe it or not, I make mistakes. Yeah, I know, its hard to get over, but its true. I. Actually. Make. Mistakes.
  5. In my whole Tanki career - theres a lot of things over a period of 3 years. Most recently, my worst decision was to get M2 Smoky. Its just a pile of rubbish, to be frank.

[Issue 15] In Memory of Bruce Lunga

I felt it compulsory to include a small tribute to our amazing community manager, Bruce Lunga, who resigned from his job as English Community Manager in July. Please join me in saying Goodbye to the legend that is Bruce Lunga. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ BRUCE LUNGA TANKI ONLINE ENGLISH COMMUNITY MANAGER AUGUST 2011 - JULY 2013 _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Bruce Lunga resigned from his job as English Community Manager a couple of months ago. This small tribute to him is in honour of his incredible influence on the whole English Community. Bruce joined the Tanki team at a time they needed him most. The ever-growing playerbase of the English community were growing disheartened at the lack of activities to take part in, and be entertained by. The Russians, on the other hand, had far more things to do, with a number of additions including a newspaper and many contests. By Bruce's personal efforts, the English Community grew from the extent of a simple forum to a thriving community, full of activities. Yet Bruce was not only limited to organising things. He was willing to get himself stuck in, and get involved with the players themselves. One of his wildest moments was when he did an example commentary for the "Two Minutes of Fame" contest, showing off his more crazy side. Friendly to everyone, his simple encouragements and compliments brought joy to many tankers. Bruce was also always ready to try out a new idea, and though he did make mistakes along his journey, his willingness to listen to the community's thoughts and help out when needed made him a popular figure in the community. Whatever you know about Bruce, there's no doubt that he was a man who made a difference. All his efforts will remain to live on for many years, and though many of you cannot remember the whole influence he had from his start to end as community manager, our community definitely would not be the same without him. Intelligent, Influential, and an Incredible friend, Bruce's influence will always be remembered.
  9. Sorry to hear the bad news. Praying that God would over-rule, and if it be His will, heal cartzzz. He'll be missed.

Ofc I remember that.. just to me, the "SS Era" was before DD was created. Back in the day when Meat accepted everyone, and all it was was a massive chat site.

    Let's Discuss Isida!

Look guys, No Supplies pass is only worth it, and I say only 'cause I mean it, ONLY worth it, when you are a Brigadier. Moving back to the subject of Isida: Everyone who has seen me play Tanki has agreed that I hardcore suck at Tanki. I am an EPIC FAIL. I cannot play Tanki to SAVE MY LIFE. However, there is an up-side. I have M3 Isida. Thus, I win battles left right and centre. This proves my point that Isida works with anyone, even people who cant play Tanki even if their life depended on it. Deduction: Isida is epic.

    Anyone here from old Tanki?

I'd say that SS era ended when DD was created. SS Era to me was the time that SS were the only clan. DD were created in April 2011. Thus, my personal opinion, is that you are sort-of-ish from the SS era, but not completely. :P P.S. [Issue 15] [History] In The Beginning, Tanki... - Part 3

Remember Update 123? Yeah. Rebalance? Hmm, yeah. Graphics Update? Just about... Shaft Release... urrrr right at the back of my memory... in this series of historical articles, I'm going to be looking out at the days of Tanki's “upbringing”, before it got to the stage it is at today. This issue's article is looking at the latter part of 2010. Tanki was in the midst of some completely game-changing updates as we enter this issue's edition of “In The Beginning Tanki”. Just at the end of last issue, we saw a massive amount of new maps released, as well as the release of Thunder, Hornet and Viking just a couple of months back. With a few big releases just behind them, the developers prepared for some more large updates to come. It was approaching summer – gaming period for many people, and they would need some real attractions to reel them into Tanki. All the developers throughout Tanki were working on their own part of a new update to come, one of those massive ones that they were known to release. The date of the release was the 8th of July. Most prominent among the updates were undoubtedly the release of two new weapons. The names? You can guess yourselves. Freeze and Ricochet. The two weapons released were to change gameplay forever. Up to this point, the only gameplay style that was suitable at the high ranks was separated by large distances. Railgun and Thunder were definitely the most commonly used weapons, and Isida was the only short-range strong weapon, which was primarily used for healing at any point. To see two new weapons, far more deadly at short range, was a big update, and extending to a part of Tanki that the developers had not been able to accommodate beforehand. Accompanying the mass-attack short-range weapon release, and to get the use of the new weapons higher, came the release of the majority of today's popular small maps. Farm, Noise, Station, Massacre, Atra and Ping Pong were all added to the battlefields today. The addition of these and the new weapons made a much different and much more fast-pace battling experience on the battlefield. On top of this, there was a change to flag indications as the warnings such as "#Playername has taken your flag" which had previously appeared in the centre of your screen (like it does now), was moved down to the corner, next to the flag score. This was one of Tanki's more unsuccessful updates, and later they changed it back, as they realised the players generally disliked the change. And it didn't stop there. Today, weight was introduced to all the hulls. Now, Wasp was more easy to turtle than mammoth because of how light it was. This was a large update for the developers as statistics were less important, but rather also, the “safety” and weight of the hull. Along with this, the new hulls (Hornet, Viking and Mammoth) were granted different looks at each modification, to distinguish the different levels of the hulls. Chat was changed too. Battle links were now clickable on the lobby chat to find battles in a much quicker way. Battle links with profanity in their name were also automatically deleted. And finally, a few of the important words in battle were edited too. In battle, the terms Killed, Died, and Suicided were changed into Destroyed, Lost and Self-Destructed, to distinguish them from human terms. The hidden side behind the interface wasn't going to be left out, and lags were reduced, and server speeds optimised, as the other major updates occurred on the scene. The update set the scene of Tanki for summer, as people grew accustomed to the changing gameplay with the new weapons, and new maps. A few in-game problems were sorted out later that month. For one, the flag indicator was brought back into the game but with a fade to clear the words at the top of the screen now. Freeze and Ricochet were messed around with a bit, as modification shots were seen differently, and Freeze's freezing ability was changed with each modification. However, most prominently, at the end of July, were the release of a number of new paints, mostly with protection, including Loam, Mary and Python. These gave a new sense of variety in the game. These were mostly to cover the release of the new weapons, and give the players something to protect from the common threats at the high ranks. A day later, on the 30th of July, two more maps were added. Opposition and the famous Madness were brought into the game. Madness was a map like no other, with its bottom and top completely different from all other maps, particularly in CTF mode. This was an exciting map, and very common to find in the battlefield, when it was released. The summer passed through August fast, as players settled back into life after a hardcore gaming period during the summer months. Increase in players came up to a high of 400k players during this month, which was a large landmark for the Tanki developers. The end of the month, however, held a few interesting updates including the release of the pre-rebalance 7k and 10k paints (Cedar, Taiga, Sandstone, Rock, Clay and Prodigi), and many of the cheaters were stopped and fined. Along with this, came a change in the way the First Aid Box gave health, as it would now give you 50% of your hull's original HP. And luckily for many of us English players, the Russian and English chat were also split up this day. This means that we wouldn't be constantly surrounded by Russians on our chat, giving us more freedom to chat with other people. Another month went by before the next updates, and updates began to slow down for the rest of the year. You see, the more updates there were, the more gameplay would change. And happily, the developers were satisfied, to a certain extent, with the current condition of Tanki's gameplay. September passed with little more than minor graphic updates catching the attention of PNAU. However, I feel that now would be a good time to introduce me onto the scene. I created my account, hogree, in October, but from before this, I had often watched my brother, skitee, playing the game, and I had a strong knowledge about what was going on. I must admit, my memory isn't strong enough for me to remember every little detail of what was going on those first days of Freeze and Ricochet's release, but I remember my excitement whenever I saw a glimpse of one of those weapons, which were very rarely seen at that time, and at my brother's low rank. The beginning of October held an interesting updates, as Freeze's strength was changed and freezing speed increased. This was so potentially large that for a few days, Freeze was removed from the garage and crystals that you paid for Freeze refunded back to you. Three days later, the familiar sight of Freeze returned to players' garages. Two maps were released also in October, in Camp (which was recently removed from the game) and Garder. Along with this was the obvious but clever update that one developer spotted needing changing, in automatically deleting messages whenever an auto-ban for flood occurred. I must admit, I have often been annoyed with people flooding constantly while I have been having a chat with someone on the server lobby, and I even have the privilege of seeing their messages deleted from cyberspace at a ban. I can't imagine how the old players were able to handle it! Tanki Online's areas of influence wasn't only through word of mouth. Tanki was entering itself into a few award contests, to boost its name among gamers. A fantastic result for the developers was gaining the position of 10th place at the end of November in the Runet Awards, a renowned games award in Russia. It was also entered for the Mashable Awards in December where it gained a good result. Winter was approaching fast, and the developers were ready to notice it. On the 1st of December, they released winter modes once again for the maps. The graphic qualities were also improved this year from last year's winter mode, but this wasn't to be the main event of the winter.... Grabbing the headlines in December was the awesome news that Tanki had received its millionth user! For the developers, this must have been a dream come true - to overhaul the landmark of a million was something many games didn't manage! To celebrate, they gifted the lucky player who had created his account a Tanki online flask and T-Shirt. Along with this was the release of the Holiday paint - to celebrate the winter! As the New Year was approaching, Tanki planned for a big celebration to greet their players with the Christmas season. As Christmas approached, the developers released the map Old Silence (Silence nowadays) before a new holiday paint hit the scenes at Christmas. Just before the New Year, Tanki gave their players the first ever discount. 25% on all garage items was offered, and the players went crazy! It was truly spending season, as players started donating their Christmas cash into Tanki. However, undoubtedly the main event of the season was once again, the New Year Celebration. This year, I can remember clearly exactly what happened - and I even can find a video showing what happened. You can watch it here. The map was square, like Sandbox, with a Christmas tree in the middle, and round it, loads of boxes fell. The clever thing about this year's celebration was the fact that you didn't know what box you were getting - it could be any supply, a crystal box, or even a two, five or ten crystal box! It was a crystal machine, and some players even stayed up overnight just to get the full blessings of the New Year Map. However, it was definite that the season was truly alive in Tanki. Looking back on 2010, we see so many new updates. Many of the big releases occurred during this year, such as the release of all the "Tier 2" weapons and tanks. Many of the legendary English community members joined Tanki this year too, including Lhamster, AdvocatusDiaboli, hotwheel, MadDog21, skitee, cheese3000 and, of course, me. However, what Tanki were planning for next was something embedded in the history of Tanki as the biggest Tanki saga of all time.. it was Tanki 2.0. Can you remember any of these events? If you were around in 2010, tell me your interpretation on what you can remember happened during Tanki in 2010. Read more about the history of Tanki next issue as we look at the first part of 2011! Thanks for reading!
  21. Tribute. One of the best golds I've ever got. Me and my friend in the enemy team were chatting about when the gold would fall, and I reckoned it had already fell (as there was no gold box notification back then). It was back in the day of the 700 fund gold. Me and a bunch of dudes wandered up the ramp where the enemies were sniping (or camping for the gold, whichever way you look at it). I was behind, healing them, and just as they all got obliterated, the gold fell, and I just grabbed it. It was one of dem golds I'm not gonna forget soon.

[Issue 15] If The English Community Was A City...

Ever wondered what it would be like if you just grabbed the English community together and dumped it into a town? If you have, then you're in for a treat. If you haven't... you're still in for a treat. Enjoy! For the onlookers in the sky, there is no place more full of energy in the whole of the country of Tankinlinestan, than one booming city in the north-east of the country. The city, called Engerica, possesses just a small, though growing, amount of the population of the country. However, as always, the lively inhabitants made for a stand out sight. Though it has been heard for people to say that the city is “just a pile of trolls, i-love-trolls, i-hate-trolls and i-don't-care-about-trolls ”, it has to be reiterated that many of the country's tourist attractions are to be found in this thriving city, including the famous Big Bruce, the unforgettable Statue of Lucerty, and the legendary Lungdon Eye. However, though it may have been a perfect picture from far above, the streets told a different story. A passer by walking through the city centre would be shocked by the amount of people sitting by the side of the streets begging. Invading every conversation on the high street were the ever present background pleas of “buy crys pls”, “trade accounts?”or “give pass”. Though all throughout the centre, passers by interacted with each other (some in a more not-so-friendly fashion than others) the main area of social life in the city was undoubtedly the Forum, situated towards the centre of the.... centre. For all you readers, the word forum may be only internet-sourced in your view – some online discussion site on which you can post things regarding the forum's points of address. However, forums originally started in the real world. Particularly used in Ancient Rome, forums were large meetings, often held in the public square, to discuss topics of public concern. Engerica had set up their own, to hear from the inhabitants what they thought best to be changed, inside a huge building known in friendly circles as the GOT-PVC-FTC Square. And in public circles, it was proudly called the “Generally Off-Topic Problematic but not Violating Contest FAQ station for Teams and Clans”. Entering the forum was very popular, but a health risk, due to the amount of loud, often VERY loud discussions held inside. People often brought in ear plugs, before they realised they had gone in to hear discussions, took them off... and more than often, damaged their ears. Each day, all the forum lovers went in to shout their hearts off about random topics they had never heard about in their life. The majority of men (and women) who were regularly inside the Forum were youngsters, seeking to gain reputation by putting their opinion in on every single subject possible that was on offer inside. One serious man seeking to lift a serious discussion topic titling: “Why Twins are too strong” (Obviously, he was referring to two siblings born at the same time) would rarely get by a single minute without some kid running in and screaming some nonsense about him being the twin of some random celebrity, generally Bruce Lunga, occasionally FederalBureauFBI,and even once someone was heard to claim to be the twin of joostcool. His claim was supported by the fact that his name was joostwarm. However, critics discovered within seconds that the fellow's claim was flawed mainly because he was a seven year old from New Zealand who had just minutes ago claimed that he had named himself after a Vietnamese spa company. Then again, generally, these kids were kicked out by the ever watchful forum moderators, but not before they had ruined the discussion topic, which rather had turned into some chat group for the forum critics about spaghetti bolognese. However, waging war against the kids wanting to gain reputation by shouting tons of nonsense, were the forum critics whose form of combat was known famously as the three C's. Calmly, Commonly, Cruelly. Those were their ways of going about “stopping” all sorts of conflict in the Forum. They were always around. Their methods however, generally caused a lot of problems. Every time any discussion topic with a potential problem arose, it was addressed immediately. Some were the “Post it elsewhere” crew, some were part of the “Pointless discussion” crew and others just part of the “I like cheese” crew. However, all of them followed about the three C's incredibly strictly. The leader of this group Remaines to be unnamed. My interpretation of the city centre so far may have led you to believe that it consists of little more than a massive Forum which is infested with random dudes shouting to make themselves heard, and a bunch of crazy people saying pointless stuff, bar the occasional useful discussion. Sounds really encouraging right? But you'll be glad to hear that that is not the end of it. Let me explore a day in the city centre. The early morning newspaper had just been delivered and still, throughout the centre of Engerica, activity was gushing through the streets. As people walked by, attending to their daily needs in the centre, the famous “non-social hour” began as people just passed each other, all engrossed in the latest edition of “The Hamster”, the city paper. The release of the newspaper, which occurred monthly was not the only big event today. The Dare Devils were to be hosting a massive football match against the Georgian Clan Crusaders, to decide who would win the Annual ShadowVision Cup. As predicted, people flooded indoors to see the big match, only for the stream, held by the company Micah7586 Ltd., to break during the match and the thousands of viewers were left staring at a blank screen. Meanwhile at the match, havoc reigned as Dare Devils argued their 1-0 loss to an “unfair decision” as their substitute, Gladiatorus, got sent off for stepping onto the field, before the player had left by the Referee, Vilmos98. According to them, the player's foot was on the line as Gladiatorus ran onto the pitch. The Cybersport Team are yet to comment. People watching TV similarly demanded a payment back, for not being given their full worth of TV licensing. Thus, all viewers were given a 50% discount ticket on all “Hello Skitty” merchandise, a famous kids' show in Engerica. Language was very similar to Engerica, to what it is like in our own personal lives. Looking upon a natural chat however, could show us a few different examples of uses in the Engerican language. I sneaked by one day to overhear a chat between splitterpoint and Lhamster. Splitterpoint: “Yo dude.” Lhamster:“Hey!” S: “I saw you get beat up this morning by that pesky pig dude, whatever his name is. What a mult!” L: “Yeah, I just whacked him over the head, it was all kool, no worries man.” S: “Great, I'll be off then. Will you be at the farm tonight for my epic rank-up party? L: “Yeah I'll be there, cya in the battle.” It must be said, on ther other hand, that there was a very serious side to Engerica. Any misbehaviour in the town would be severely punished by the town's police service, led most prominently by the famous (or infamous, if you're a thief) yele. Once, she was heard to physically take down a 7 foot robber, who was making away with some valuable crystals from the museum. And if she didn't catch you, the mayor Semyon Kirov shook fear into all hearts. He and his sidekicks fought against all sorts of trouble that might arise in the city. All the same, enjoyment was not at loss in Engerica. Indeed, it was a lively city, as was shown most evidently in the night time. People flooded out to see famous bands such as The Birthing Stones perform live, or watch solo violinist Lizerdgirl108 on her victory tour after her runners-up prize in the CONTA awards. Just a regular day in the life of Engerica. But my last words must be credited to the one and only professor of philosophy, MadDog21. Readers, welcome to my ending. You are vanished. Buh-Bye.
