  1. I've been kicking around the idea of working on a shared anthology with others here.

If you're not familiar with the idea, we'd start by agreeing on a world. The first several authors write short stories of their own, with the only limitations being those we agree on before starting. Those initial stories become canon, defining the world, establishing important characters, outlining story arcs.

By way of example, perhaps we agree on the theme of a small town in the American Old West.

My story introduces the town, named Bushville. It's a small town, a trading and farming community, located at the intersection of a small river and a trade route. The nearest large city is two days' ride. I also introduce the characters of the sheriff, the deputy, and the bartender.

The next writer introduces One-Eyed Willy's outlaw gang, who have a hideout in the mountains just west of town.

The next introduces Ol' Doc Malbok.

The next introduces Crazy Pete, the prospector. He's actually found silver up in the mountains, and is trying to keep it a secret, which is extra challenging because he's mining dangerously close to One-Eyed Willy's territory.

And so on. Once the locations and characters are established, other writers can use them in stories of their own, subject to rules.

Thieves World is a pretty good example of a shared anthology, and probably some of the most enjoyable pulp fantasy out there. The original series ran 12 novels before the lead editor died. There's a second series, and have been a few spin-offs as well.

I posted this over on the Discord server as well. I think, if there's enough interest to try, I'll start a Discord server for discussion. If you'd like to play, either reply here or PM me.

im thinking about it... just not sure if i can keep up '~'

EDIT: after 45 seconds of thinking, im absolutely and positively in. sIgn mE Up

  2. Hi, I haven't writing it yet.

I see a lot of views but not many likes, I am wondering if the story is worse continuing. Maybe it is too long.

Part 4 is actually half way the story.

its not worse continuing nor too long! its a great series just the way it is

and does this mean there will be 8 parts?

    EDIT: 100 posts yEEEEe
