What do you see when you're opening the SWF file? You need to set your browser as default progam. Right click the SWF file > open with > Browser should be there in the list. If not: Right click the SWF file > open with > browse > program files (x86) > Google > Chrome > application > Chrome Right click the SWF file > open with > browse > Mozilla Firefox > Program should be in that folder. These are mainly the locations of Chrome and Firefox, unless you've stored them somewhere else. For exampe my standalone flash application is on my desktop.

rendering to PNG might also help as JPEG files will suffer from more detail loss after being compressed. PNG's are also bigger files than JPEG.
