What did you give up for Lent?

Hey guys,

What did you give up for lent?

Lent is an annual season of fasting and penitence in preparation for Easter, beginning on Ash Wednesday and lasting 40 weekdays to Easter, observed by Roman Catholic, Anglican, and certain other churches. Not always involving fasting, one can give up a pleasure he/she enjoys in this 46 day period.

...what is lent?
lent is the christian observance of the liturgical year from ash wednesday to holy thursday.. the traditional purpose of lent is the penitential preparation of the believer—through prayer, penance, repentance, almsgiving, and self-denial. Its institutional purpose is heightened in the annual commemoration of holy week, marking the death and resurrection of jesus, which recalls the events of the passion of christ on good friday, which then culminates in the celebration on easter sunday of the resurrection of jesus christ.. you get the idea :P

...what is lent?

Lent is the name given to the 46 days in the Roman Catholic liturgical year leading up to Easter. During this time, we are to give up something, and spend the time in which we would normally be doing that 'something', to pray to God. Wikipedia it, if you wish to learn more about it. (Chris, I suggest you copy-paste this to your OP, so people won't ask anymore.)

I myself gave up all desserts, snacks, and sugary food in general. I also have resolved to continue my tradition of running a mile every night, and working out at the gym every other day or so.

So far, so good. 8)
