Read this before you create a new topic!

Attention, dear tankmen!

Recently there has been an influx of new and relevant topics to discuss, but along with these great topics come many useless and irrelevant topics that had to be closed!

I'm here to teach you the things you need to know before creating a new thread, to save you from the grief of yours being closed too.

So listen closely!

Creating a new topic seems like a simple thing to do, at first; just click a button, type a few words, and make your point known to the good people of the forum.

However, there are rules of etiquette to consider when you are making your new topic.

Firstly, you must consider whether or not the topic you are making has been discussed before- in this situation it is handy to use the Search function!

When you use the search button, you should use key words which your topic is about.

For example, if you are making a topic about a sell feature, then you search for the words "Sell" and "feature" to find any topics or messages that may have been made that concern your topic. (here are search results for Sell Feature)

Using the search feature saves many older tankmen from the annoyance of seeing the same topic over and over again.

If your search turns up with nothing, then feel free to plan out your thread!

Secondly, you must consider this: is my new topic about feedback on a feature, a suggestion for improvement of features, or perhaps an idea for a new feature?

Recently it has been deemed absolutely unacceptable to post ideas in the forum, because there is now a Feedback site to post ideas, suggestions, and feedback.

"But wait!" you say, "underneath the words General Section, it says 'any ideas, suggestions, and feedback'!"

And you'd be right, it does indeed say to post such things in this section of the forum.

But it's false advertisement!

These words under the General Section are planned to be removed some time in the future, because it is fooling people into posting their grand ideas and having their threads shamefully closed because of the fact that the Feedback site is where you share ideas.

So try to be a wise tankmen, and either keep any ideas to yourself, or share them on the feedback instead of creating any more idea threads here in this forum...for the sake of my sanity! :)

Thirdly, you must consider: is my topic relevant?

I mean relevant in a few terms here; first the topic title must be relevant to the post itself, or it is likely to be closed because of irrelevant topic name. (an example would be, a topic named "pigs feet" and the topic is about the Theory of Relativity)

Next, the topic you make must not contain "flood," which is repeated or useless phrases, such as "asdafedfasd" or "010101110101102", or "i like pie"; flood can also be oversized images and text.

The topic itself must also not be flood, which means that it should not be something that has been discussed before, or an idea thread (both mentioned above)

The topic must also be in English, because this is an English forum, so this is a given!

Fourthly, you have to consider the most important question of all: why?

This ties in closely with all of the points above, making it the most important thing to consider.

When you're making a new topic, you have to ask yourself, "why am I making this topic?"

If you can't answer that question reasonably, then you shouldn't make this topic.

If your answer is things that are considered against the Rules then do not even try, unless you want to be banished.

However, if your answer is reasonable and concerns an issue not before discussed, then by all means, make the topic! (but do consider my final point, below)

url.jpg<--This is the most important question in the world.

My final point: when you make a topic, be careful!

If you're going to go through creating a new topic anyways, then you should know: making a new topic here is something truly not to be taken lightly, not at all.

Firstly your topic should be well-crafted, logical, concise, relevant, and reasonable. (This rings especially true if you're creating a FAQ!)

If it does not meet these criteria, then do not even bother creating the topic, because it will be vehemently attacked and closed at the whim of the forum, and your reputation as a tankmen will be scarred for a long time!

ThomasJeffersonRoughDraftsJuly4thONE.jpg<-- This should be you! Plan your opinions carefully.

When I say all of this, I do not mean to scare you away from discussing your opinions here. This is a free world and that shall not be ignored...but these are key factors that you MUST consider, to prevent yourself from getting into any trouble-- because that's the last thing we want to happen, correct?

Please, for the good of everybody: think wisely, do the right thing, and consider all of what I've told you today before you make that new topic!

Good luck, my comrades. ;)

Well, most of the things are described in Rules/FAQ.

But you collected all of those in one place - good job.

Yes, convenience is a good thing for the sake of the user who needs help.

The guide you mentioned in your link, it has to do with tips on posting comments in a thread, while this guide pertains to creating entirely new topics.

It's evident that more people need to read this topic...if you look at General, a huge percentage of it's covered in this topic.

Heed my words...we must take action, please look to what this post is trying to tell you and try to be more careful when you make more threads.
