Hacking

 

Hacking, in it's most basic definition, is "Acquiring access to secure information, such as accounts on websites, bank PIN numbers, paypal accounts, and etc. through illegal means(Which I won't speak of, out of courtesy to the Admins/Mods.), though the most common are packet sniffing programs and packet decryption. No, I will not link you to examples, though I'm using this as an example for this explanation. Packet Sniffing & Decryption is illegal to do, as it constitutes gaining access via illegal means, HOWEVER, Packet Sniffing in itself is legal, as it allows you to maintain a tighter security over, say, a wireless connection, to determine is somebody is stealing your bandwidth or not(Again, an example).

 

 

Scamming

 

Scamming, in it's basic definition, is "Gaining access to private information through verbal manipulation(Text manipulation as well), Such as offering a service appealing to the victim("Hey, I can get you all characters" sound familiar to anyone?) and convincing them to give them sensitive data.

 

Flood

 

A ) This happens when someone sends a lot of text in a channel or a private message, causing the chat window to scroll a lot in a very short time. This could be caused by pasting a large amount of text from the clipboard.

 

B ) A person finds out your computer's address (either the numeric IP address or the one with letters) then tries to attack it directly by filling your Internet connection with unnecessary traffic. As a result, you will find yourself unable to do anything productive with your connection, because normal traffic cannot get through. The attacker is sending you meaningless data packets. There is absolutely no setting on your computer or software you can install to prevent the data from being sent from the Internet through your Internet connection towards your computer. The only way to stop the packets from consuming your connection's speed is to contact your Internet provider and ask the technical support team for help; they will block the flood in their routers and firewalls, thus allowing your Internet connection to be used normally.

 

Ive made this topic because i got borred to see how ppl confuse the terms and use them without to know what it means. Using this terms wrong is very very stupid and lead the readers to understand wrong your "story".

Also, Rules explain to avoid giving out your informations and the FAQ section contain many topics with advices. Thanks for giving us those definitions, but reading the Rules is already enough if someone read them carefully.
