Personally, I've never understood why topics with ideas are closed. I know the devs will only see the ideas on Feedback, but couldn't the topics remain open to discuss? At least pin an 'Ideas' discussion topic or something...

The feedback section is designed for ideas, the forum isn't.

Please understand that the feedback site can process everyone's idea... doesn't matter if he/she is Russian, German or English.

 

 

 

This, is just the english section. The Feedback site makes it more easier for developers to read ideas, as it's one site.

The only thing I would add, is a sticky topic, which leads to the feedback site; as title: IDEAS HERE.

Feedback is one thing, and discussion is another, in my book. Getting a consensus from the English speaking players on what they feel, maybe even putting it to the vote, and *then* passing it to Feedback would strengthen the process, and make it a lot easier for developers to work through the feedback site and document what was raised. One of the goals of "agile" software development is that the "users speak with one voice"; the more people that have contributed to and discussed an idea before it is reported to feedback, the better. People can also discuss on the feedback site, there's a comment feature there.

It's not as good as in the forum though.

Yes, exactly. Any old idea currently hits Feedback but surely we want the best and well thought out ideas. Ideas that have been discussed at length, here, in a well populated forum. Doing so gives the player a sense of community and a sense that Tanki is their game and they're contributing. Proponents want instant responses, not some tumbleweed blowing through a remote, dusty, old, unfrequented webpage that is devoid of life.

 

So what if new players come in and regurgitate the same old ideas, they're new and Tanki wants to keep them playing so look after them and don't discourage them.

 

And proof is in the pudding. I started this thread with a criticism and I wasn't able to write down or put in to words everything I wanted to say. Thanks to discussion from fellow members other valid points have been raised and noted. Important points that would have otherwise been left by the wayside. Discussion works.

The best thing about the feedback site is that players can vote there. If we start a duscussion section here in the forum it will be extremely difficult to check all this info and pass it to the Tanki team (I think we all agree that this is the main point of feedback in general).

The feedback site is a special resource which is regularly checked. The info is passed on to the developers.

And you can discuss it there. Just a couple of minutes of your time to sign in there. Then you can comment each suggestion as well as vote for or against it.

Totally agree with OP. So many topics are closed prematurely, ideas on the forum have to be kept open, it's good that Semyon is re-starting the feedback site because it's been a joke for ages to have every idea sent over to the feedback site which none of the mods care about anyway.

However some topics that r actually useful become full of trolls and although humorous, it is completely devoid of usefulness... I guess offtopic is ok for that but general section has now died out because of topics being closed due to these trolls.

if you want to less flooding in forum or target users to their desire topic. you should change http://en.tankiforum.com/ layout. only main page. i will suggest you something like this.

 

 

 

 

Every thing is clear and trending topics can easy to access. this will help you alot.

For example

if a guy have a question what is the best gun or hull form him? and

the topic "What to buy? What to use?" are in Popular topic section. he can directly reach their. and ask his question. or read the topic.

I think the Questions and Answers thread is silly and I feel there should be a whole section devoted to these Q&A; this way, it won't just be so ONE person replies on an opinion; you'll get a ton of people's opinions. The mods lock the threads too fast without even thinking about if it would make for a good discussion or not and it's getting REAL annoying, especially when BarbaFenner does it; he's the main culprit in this.

You community managers need to understand that when people make threads like these, they expect answers from a wide range; not just a mere one answer that might not even help them at all. That's what a forum is about; we don't need threads being locked for ONE opinion being posted, the fact that some of you guys do that is absurd; the fact that it's a guideline is even more absurd. Overall, you should just leave the threads alone until they die out themselves or an argument ensues.

HI Semyon, I think that the Feedback Site still has merit. I'm not suggesting we bypass it altogether, merely use discussion here to better ideas before they're finally submitted to Feedback, where, as you rightly point out, they can be voted on and discussed further if required. The main reason for discussion here is, I feel for one and I'm sure there are plenty like-minded players, that Feedback site seems too third-party and unfrequented compared to the larger crowd that attend here.

 

My gripe was not just about Feedback. It's about General Discussion on anything tanki. If there's no reasonable time for discussion, then I'm sure many will feel disappointed and put off joining in. It will certainly have that effect on me.

Forum is a place for news , clan , searching friends and others . If you want to post the ideas you should go to Feedback . There is a reason why Moderator close the topics .

You do acknowledge it's not always the ideas, right? Sometimes people ask questions, one or two opinions are posted and then the thread is locked not even giving the thread a chance and I find that to be totally absurd, absurd and one more thing; absurd.

The reason idea topics are closed is to avoid this entire section being flooded with these topics, especially when most of the ideas have been suggested many times before. Semyon is working on feedback, so hopefully soon it won't appear to be dead. Personally, I think an 'Ideas' topic sticky'd the forum to discuss things would be great, but at the moment, it has to go on feedback and the forum mods must follow the staff guidelines they have been given. They don't get paid more for closing more topics. Some topics are also closed to prevent certain people from trolling in them too. I'll see what I can do about that topic though. Also, if you check the russian forum, you'll see that they are even stricter than here.

 

The devs have had plenty of time to take this down and yet, its still here.

Please, if you really want to stop all these amazing ideas being posted here, remove what it says under the "General" section.

Yeah, let a topic live for atleast a week. You make a topic, its closed 5 seconds later, very frustrating. You aren't even allowed to discuss an idea.
