Not sure where to post this

So my friend PushingMahButtons posted a topic in Violations, complaining about fly hackers, and now he cannot do anything because he's apparently banned. Why? He didn't break any major rules to his knowledge, and he's gotten quite a long ban considering. Can somebody explain what was wrong, or at least why he's gotten such a long ban?

By the way, from what I've heard he didn't even get a warning message. He just sat down, tried to chat in the Tanki game, and found a message telling him he's been banned. :(

I know how your friend feels. I got banned many times for that. One complaint was How do you self-destruct? I said, press Delete. Then got banned for a week. Idk why.

But a rule is a rule. You must follow them. :'(

Well, I talked to PushingMahButtons and he was cool with the reason. He said he didn't expect such a long punishment but he didn't mind the wait and he's gonna read the rules from now on. He's still a bit annoyed that the ban includes talking in the game itself. Something about it being over the top that he couldn't even communicate in the game. Is that standard? :/

Reason: Ignorance of complaints section rules

Ignorance: The lack of knowledge or education

I was banned for "ignorance" even though I knew the rule. I thought I was posting to a topic in General but ,as it turned out, forgot I was in Complaints. So the reason for my ban didn't make sense at the time. The reason given needs to change because it doesn't always apply.

Ignorant: The word ignorant is an adjective describing a person in the state of being unaware and is often used as an insult to describe individuals who deliberately ignore or disregard important information or facts.

The wording for the Reason from now on should simply be: Reason: Violators section rules - Rule 1

The recent changes made to the layout are much appreciated but they still don't help those who know the rule and make genuine mistakes. Accusing somebody of Ignorance is not a good way to treat customers. I've not spent any money on the game since. More needs to be done in this area. I explained all this in pms to staff and to help@tankionline but they did not overturn the ban.

Edit: Please don't lock this topic just yet. Thanks.

I suspect this is actually a not-quite-perfect translation, like many others on the site.

The English quote is usually "ignorance of the law is no excuse/defence"

Shouldn't that be "Violation of Section Rules" or "Rule Violation"?

No, it should be what I said as the Rules Topic is entitled Violators Section Rules.

Nice quote but that only works when you actually want to use ignorance as an excuse or defence. I didn't - therefore it does not apply in my case as I knew the rule already.  I didn't forget the rule either. But I reckon you're right, "a not-quite-perfect translation" is a generous way of putting it. It's still wrong and needs changing though.

If your friend want to know why he was banned he needs to send a PM to .

Posting in any of the topics in the Violators section is always forbidden and will lead to a long ban except if you are involved in that specific case posted or if you have the same issue.
