Edit: Another idea is that there should be a paint that you get when you are banned called "outlaw" and its basically black and white stripes just as how jail inmates wear. 

About the paint idea, I don't really agree. As I have already said that only those who we wish to tell that we are banned should know it. :)

This is already possible. If you go to a banned players profile, the group the player is in will be 'Ban'. But of course, there also needs to be a way to do so in the game itself.

I have been banned more than a few times in the time that I have played tanki. One of my biggest dilemmas is not being able to tell my friends that I am banned. I think that you should still be banned, but you can communicate, "I have been banned." It's not completely undoing the ban and it is useful in some situations.

If a banned player tries to chat,

his message could be replaced with "players [name] is banned until [date]".

 

If he want's to tell someone, he can do so..

if he want's to keep it a secret, he can do so as well.

 

it's a pretty easy coding job too.
