Where the name and paint came from

                It was a damp May morning on the Appalachian mountainside, the birds carrying on a song, the squirrels peeking out of the trees, and Mary Hamilton waking up to the sight of the sun gradually rising over the horizon, glistening down on a small lake.  After getting up from under the covers and stretching, she decided she would paint this scene again. She had been away for a few months to visit with grandparents. While she was there, she got painting tips from her grandmother. She now thought she could paint the sunrise from her small house better than she had before.  After pouring a cup of coffee and setting up her workstation perfectly, she was ready to begin.

                In less than thirty minutes she had created an even better work of art than she had in the past. There was more detail in the trees and the lake. Since she used a bigger canvas, she was able to put the window she was looking out in the painting, adding a new dimension to the piece. The sunrise was captured perfectly.  She stepped back in awe of what she had just created, sat down on her bed, and sighed realizing how much her grandparents meant to her and the time she spent with them the past few months.  Never had a trip to her grandparents been so rejuvenating.  She  not only spent time reminiscing  with them, but used that time to soak in the wisdom they had to share.

Mary had recently had a rough, jobless period in which she had nowhere to turn.  She was unable to make mortgage payments on her two bedroom, two bathroom house and was forced to sell it. She now lives in what she can afford; a small one bedroom, one bath home that she pays rent for every month.  It changed her whole lifestyle. She couldn’t shop as much, she couldn’t do certain hobbies she enjoyed. But her grandfather had just the words to turn the hopelessness of living in a place like she does now for the rest of her life.

“Only ones own thought can discourage them from accomplishing something. You just need to ignore the signs of failure and keep pushing forward.” Mr. Hamilton would say. “I’ve been in your situation before, it’s not a pleasant one.”

“How bad was it for you?” Mary questioned.

“I’ve lost a lot more than you have, but I fought hard to get it back.” Mr. Hamilton said. “I used to gamble a lot. I had my good days and I had my bad days. Then, one day, I lost it all.”

“Wow.” In awe of the story, Mary asked, “How did you bounce back?”

“I sought professional help; and had family help me a little along the way.”

                This advice was all Mary needed. She now plans to create art for a living; Painting and selling her pieces to those who admire them. Though, it will take a lot of paintings to get her back to the lifestyle she was at previously. She got up and sat on the couch in the living room, got on her laptop, and turned on the television.

                The news at 11 o’clock had just come on, with their breaking news being about a car accident near the airport.  She figured since she would have to go there soon, she would let her friend she was picking up know that she would be late. While taking less than 30 seconds to type out the message and send, her computer had finished booting and she opened her Photoshop and the picture her friend sent. It was a picture of what appeared to be a tank; she had been asked to have it put into a picture.  Without considering why, she began to place the tank in an appropriate background. She put in great detail, making sure the shadows cast on its surroundings perfectly.  She saved the image and continued to watch the news.

~~~
                Less than an hour later she heard a sound that came from her driveway. She stood up, sat her computer down, muted the TV, and looked out her kitchen window to see what the source of the noise was. There was nothing.  She walked over to the counter to get a better look; nothing.  Then walked over to her dinette room window to look at her backyard; then, BOOM. The front door was kicked in, and a man dressed in all black with a ski mask ran in and grabbed Mary.  She screamed, and attempted breaking free of the intruder's grasp. She kicked drastically and punched. She knocked the intruder on his back, and she fell forward. "I gotta distract him so I can get away" Mary thought. She landed next to a bucket of red paint. She picked it up and tossed the paint at the masked person.  The paint went everywhere, covering the intruder from head to toe. The floor is covered in red, which the masked person slipped on. Some paint got splattered on a blank canvas. Mary ran outside, only to be captured by a second masked intruder. She is dragged down her driveway to a van parked on the street and gets shoved in.
To commemorate her life, the paint “Mary”, the accidental splash of red on a blank canvas, was added to the game. Her friend will be the first to find it.
For those that recognize this, It was felt that this needed more of a back story, so it was re-written
Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed.
Are you sure that it is not supposed to represent bloody Mary of England?
A white dress with flecks of blood from all the protestants she killed during the 16th century.
I am not sure. This is a fictional story, its not really why it's called that. ;) Though that could be the reason; only the developers would be able to answer that question.
