If I hit myself and it hurts, am I strong or weak?

Strength is a perception...Without getting too technical. It's a proven fact that pain is largely a matter of brain chemistry. When we touch a hot stove for example, a message is sent to the brain, which in turn, the body produces molecules that help create the sensation of pain. It is because of the various pain sensations, we learn not to touch the hot stove. If you go around punching yourself and it hurts the first, second and third time, but not the fourth. It is not because you are getting stronger. It’s because you're getting use to the sensation that the molecules enact. On the flip-side of that coin? If you hit yourself harder in order to feel the pain, now deadened by over-stimulation. Then you are not really stronger, but an ignoramus...

P.S. Ladies and Gentlemen. Mesdames et Messieurs. Presenting, the pain dance...Some of us may know this all too well.

Pain does not determine whether you are strong or weak, the power to tolerate it does.

I'm one of those people who passes out when in pain, which isn't really something I can control. Would that make me weak? :P

No. Stereotypical passing out as a sign of weakness, is a myth...You could have an underlying medical condition you are not yet aware of. Such as, neurologically mediated hypotension suffered by at least 50% of the worlds population. Or, it's just a normal chemical response to protect your body against a certain degree of injury, which varies from person to person. Heart problems, and nutrition can also play a roll in "passing out"...Getting enough to eat?
