What has this forum become?

I hear old players talking about the greatness of the forum in the pre-rebalance days, where the forum was actually alive

Many people blame it on the trolls (contaminated, cheap_plastic_flower etc) leaving, but has anyone wondered why they left?

They left because of the dictatorship this forum has become, where 90% percent of all new topics are closed.

Where Moderators only posts on the forum are "topic closed" or "wrong section".

Where moderators refuse to interact the people of the forum.

Where the mods actually interacted with us players, and even when the posts went off topic, it still wasn't closed.

 

One need only look at @Contaminated and @cheap_plastic_flower reputation to see what a forum this once was.

 

Why was arguement of the day closed?; it would have been the first actually funny topic

Why is every new topic directed to another topic?

 

I am not an anarchist and do not wish to destroy the forum, simply change it, to a new and better forum.

Only FBI, yele, Eddie are non corrupt able, they rest of the staff are corrupt, they ban their friends shorter then enemies, trolls with there mob gang up and force new comers to leave, contest makers make their friends to win, it is a night mare, I think every troll should be banned forever and all there alts, corrupted staff sould be banned and replaced, the remaining non corrupted mods should put an end to this, they should make strict rules

Trolling? The OP is trolling? Chances are, the OP has been here way longer than you have, eragon. And the staff is corrupt? If there was anything corrupt, it would be you. The staff do what they are supposed to do, and it's not their problem that violators get banned. And all that random crap you said about how "contest makers make their friends win" and "trolls with their mob gang up..." it makes no sense. If you think it's unfair, think as you wish. For the record, we all know that almost no one agrees with you on your views. And strict rules? What's the point of this? Encourage people to follow the rules? Not going to happen.

and you should also be the new CM, get 99 billion crystals and all M4 with a 80% protection paint. So you can have a D/L over 1.

How serious do you want me to take you? I don't see what you are talking about, and I really suggest you to do research, before calling the entire staff-group corrupt and so. For me it is okay to have your question marks by staff, as we are human as well as you are, and I am sure I made mistakes as well, it happens. But the way you put it down, makes it look not serious, and I guess you want us to take you serious, don't you?

For me it is okay to have your question marks by staff, as we are human as well as you are, and I am sure I made mistakes as well, it happens. That topic with FBI is a great example of what a free forum should look like. Oh, and I think I know who you are ^_^

 

So, you kind of publicly discussed mods' actions there... Such a discussion, whilst completely valid, might be more constructive when held in private? I've been there, done that, and public discussion about such issues needs to be carefully considered, and only done if entirely necessary... There is currently discussion taking place in private about this, which is probably a better way to handle such a matter. Feel free to PM me if you want to know more.

...When the forum actually had only 1 forum mod, who, of course, wasn't able to deal with everything 24/7. So many bans were missed back then and people got used to it. It's not that "now its a dictatorship" - it's that rules are actually enforced now. Many players got used to avoid bans and now, when they started coming, those players started complaining - for those who don't know, I (for the 1544th time) suggest you to read the Game Rules and EULA - those things which all of you read, agreed to and accepted when registering. Read it again and remember - if you don't agree with it - you're obliged to leave (quote from line 1 in EULA).

Maybe because they started getting banned more often, after forum mods became more, got more organized and got an admin?

Anyway, I don't think any of us can judge why they left - everyone has a choice.

For the "dictatorship" I already answered. As for the "90% of the topics are closed" - well, 90% of the topics created are made by people who don't use the Search/don't read FAQ/don't read news. Have you ever been a forum moderator? Do you know what's going to happen if we let all those topics get more and more? Chaos. Pure chaos. Newbies - it will be even harder than now for them, because, if currently some of them can stop for a minute, think a bit, and then decide to go to FAQ, if there are 20 topics talking about the same thing, spread between 5 sections - those newbies just won't know what to do, some of them may even leave because of this. So that's why we won't do that.

 

BUT, if you see a topic which has been closed, or even deleted - a topic which should actually have stayed opened - feel obliged to PM our admin @Yele and she will correct it as soon as possible. Thanks :)

Just random examples I picked. Yes, it's true that most of the time, due to work, we're left with no free time. But when we have such - we try our best to enjoy the fun in the forum like all of you do :)

Back then I wasn't a mod. As for the offtopic, both me and hogree apologize for that.

Some of their topics (mostly Cheap's) were entertaining, yes. Hope to see him again one day. :)

Because it would create a mess of insults and arguments (the first aren't to be done anywhere, the latter are for PM)

Answered that already. But actually, when possible (and usually when the topic already got some good replies), we're trying to merge it with the original, instead of closing and then informing the OP what happened to his topic and why.

Nice, then instead of complaining how bad the forum is, which won't change anything, try to create some good posts and topics, which will lead to a good discussion. If many players do the same, the forum will get more "live", as you call it :)

Actually, none of the mods is obliged to announce his name, age, sex and height.

 

Since everything was answered, thread closed.

Also, further posts about "the game is so bad", "the forum is dead" will not be tolerated - they don't change anything. Instead,  try to make the difference yourself, as I explained some lines above. Complaints from the type "mods close too much topics" - they go to @Yele. Peace, and good luck :)
