And not really. A anti virus could protect you. I also read somewhere on the internet that a company will produce patches for XP forgot site though I will find it later.

Most people won't buy an anti-virus, and most don't work (Norton is a virus), I think there are only 2 good ones, I forgot their names but one of them costs around $75 for a year's subscription, People think McAffe is one of the best, but since the big brand bought it, it's quality has declined, John McAffe said it on a radio show last year, and my friend goes to Collage where he is having final exams in Computer sciences this and next week, I can talk to him right now if you don't feel so sure about my words.

Lol Norton is not a virus. It's just a really slow one cause of the GUI is heavy. If it was a virus it would be defined as a rogue anti-virus and it would be sued.

A virus is something that slows down performance.

Wrong. Just cause a program slows down your computers performance doesnt mean it's a virus. A virus is a file that can harm the users computer by destroying data and denying programs. I have tested viruses myself and they don't slow down performance all they do is destroy data and corrupt files. (Which can easily be repaired.)

Only some of them slow down performance.

yup

A computer virus is a type of malware that, when executed, replicates by inserting copies of itself (possibly modified) into other computer programs, data files, or the boot sector of the hard drive; when this replication succeeds, the affected areas are then said to be "infected".[1][2][3] Viruses often perform some type of harmful activity on infected hosts, such as stealing hard disk space or CPU time, accessing private information, corrupting data, displaying political or humorous messages on the user's screen, spamming their contacts, or logging their keystrokes. However, not all viruses carry a destructive payload or attempt to hide themselves—the defining characteristic of viruses is that they are self-replicating computer programs which install themselves without the user's consent.

Even if XP is unsupported it is the same as a supported OS. No matter what, anything can bypass it even with a antivirus. You don't even need to download anything it installs automatically without your attention and if your AV doesnt detect it the virus could knock it down and disable a bunch of features.

And if your PC get hacked... Just unplug the internet. Theres no way they can get you after you unplug it.

I loved xp :(  it was so simple to use, windows 7 especially windows 8 is a nightmare for me, but im still installing them, i dont want to be hacked :)  ;)  Hackers are already reverse engineering new flaws for xp and when they test them its going to be a massacare to people using xp, the hole would just get bigger eventually.

Yeah... Most viruses have a destructive/annoying/robbing manner.

As an XP user I've decided I'm not going to leave behind my beloved OS just yet.

I've got Avira which works pretty fine, but even if some malware or adware slips through the defence (rarely happens, but I still get a notification) I can alway manually remove it cause I know the system inside-out. So right now I'm sort of a lone warrior against the dangers of the internet :D

I'll get a new PC later this summer anyway, so I might as well squeeze all that XP has to offer. I'm gonna back my buddy until the end ;)

Windows 8 is a different, more modern version...

And Lenovo is a brand of a laptop, not an operating system.
