Tanki Online on Unity: Questions and Answers

For the last several months we've been keeping you updated about the development of the new Tanki.

This has generated many questions and rumors.

Today, we answer the most burning questions about the future of TO, and dispel all the myths!

 

Will tanks behave differently? What will happen to physics? To parkour?

Physics and tank behavior will remain unchanged.

The current version of Tanki uses our own physics engine. This will be changed to the so-called PhysX once we switch to Unity.

There will initially be a few differences. However, resolving them is just a question of fine-tuning coefficients.

 

Will the new Tanki contain maps from the current version of the game?

We’ll recreate the most popular maps in the new version. Yes, Silence and Polygon will be there! :)

 

Will there be changes in the game’s economy?

No. Balance, prices and ranks will remain unchanged.

 

Will in-game chat be possible?

Yes. Right from the start, the game will have special chat channels for easy communication between players.

 

Will it be possible to see the profiles of other players?

Yes. Tanki will finally feature profiles. These will display a player’s achievements and personal information, if available.

 

Previous videos usually feature a Wasp with a Smoky. Can we see other models?

Currently all tank models are being reworked. Once they are ready, we will show them to you. Keep following the news!

 

On which platforms will the new Tanki be launched?

Any browser, as it is now, plus mobile devices powered by iOS and Android.

 

Will the game’s system requirements change?

We are actually trying to push the minimum requirements to be lower than they are now.

If the game works on iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S2, it will certainly work on your PC without any problems.

But for older PC’s it might be necessary to disable some effects such as dust, smoke and detail.

 

Will there be a night mode? Will you add rivers and lakes? Will there be snow and rain?

Possibly, but not from the start.

It is very challenging to implement these things in the current Tanki. However, Unity has most of these effects built-in.

 

Will the game remain browser-based or will it have to be installed?

In case of PCs nothing will change -- Tanki will remain a browser game.

You will need to install the Unity plugin on your browser. This will only take a few seconds as it is only 2 megabytes in size.

Mobile versions will have to be downloaded and installed, just like other applications.

 

Will there be a way to switch from the current Tanki to the new version? Or will players have to start from the beginning?

The new Tanki and the current version will both exist at the same time.

You will be able to play any of the 2 versions.

You will also be able to copy your account from the old Tanki to the new one, but only once.

This will copy your rank, crystals and garage.

After that you will be able to play both the old Tanki and the new version.

 

And the most important question — WHEN?

Unfortunately, we cannot answer this question, as there is still A LOT left to do. It will certainly NOT happen this year.

Changes are possible, but most likely all boxes will remain the same.

 

 

Will ranks and garage change simultaneously in both old and new ranki...or is it separate ....

It will be separate.

 

 

what about the microupgrades?

Microupgrades will be available in both versions of the game.

 

interesting , will the forum will be changed?will more languages will be added to the game?

Yes, forum will look different. Adding other languages is planned, Portuguese is only the first step in that direction.

 

 

Will Tanki work on Linux?

We strongly believe that by the time the new TO is ready, Unity will be available on Linux as well.

 

 

Will There BE A new System Of Drugs? will there be a new GUNS or HULLS ??

Any changes in drugs are not planned yet. There will be new turrets and hulls, but we are not ready to give you any dates, this is not a priority for us at the moment.

 

Say you play on Unity, will you be able to play with people on the Flash version?

No, you will only be able to play with people playing your version of TO.

 

 

SemyonKirov I have a question. I have a phone Sony Xperia C1605, will Tanki Online works on my phone? :(

You will be able to play the new Tanki smoothly on any Android device that has the same or better hardware than Samsung Galaxy S2.

 

 

Will there will be rebalance?

No, parameters of all turrets and hulls will remain unchanged. Because of that, there won't be any return of crystals.

 

 

so tanki wont be available for windows phone ?  :mellow:

Currently we are not planning to release the new Tanki Online on Windows Phone devices.

Yes, this is correct. There will be 2 versions of the game existing at the same time, the current Tanki and the new Tanki on Unity, at least for some time.
