Feedback for the Mods of this section......

Topics are closed to make more space in the forum and to keep it tidy. It would be a lot harder to find certain topics if you had to pan through thousands of unnecessary ones which have been answered/serve no further use.

You are missing the point.

Another option to closing would be merging similar topics.  Even less of a mess then a bunch of closed topics. Even when they get closed they are still taking up the same space. Except now they are truly useless.

You mentioned about moderators, instead of closing topics, to leave them to get "out of control" and remove offensive posts. Do you know how long that will take them?? They work hard enough, this is just placing a bigger burden and even more worry onto the shoulders of the moderators.

I have noticed at least 1 Moderator who taken my comments as feedback and has made an improvement. So I feel it was worth it. This was all this was intended to do.

There is no feedback topic in this section, and there should be, so here we are. Mods should be able to hide behind the "no open discussion rule". Game Rules2.3.22. Express or implicit public discussion of the Administration or moderators of the Game;  But there should be a proper place for it. Sending PM's to the admins is not fair to them, it just overloads them.

This next part is a bit of a delayed response, I wasn't going to respond at all.

Just to defend myself I never said leave all topics open to get out of control. I said leave topics open until they get out of control. No extra work involved. In my opinion, merging similar topics into 1 open topic makes more sense than having 10 closed topics, all with the same question. There are a lot of closed topics that could just be deleted or merged, especially if they no longer serve any useful purpose.

OK, here's something I want to know. Why do some mods close topics without a reason?

Did you try to PM @Yele?

Sometimes faults do happen, thats when we're in a hurry or so. We usually would neglect to close/give an answer when we're busy with other stuff and due to our focus being distributed to other duties, the answer is most likely to be a bit or completely inaccurate.

However, if that topic is of a "new" technical issue we've never seen before, yele usually keeps an eye on such a topic and makes a solid decision. Depending on that "new" problem's shape and detail, she would forward it to further group of TO staff whom work on the solution.

It is always best to PM the Forum Admin to get an explanation about a certain topic and/or a certain post a moderator has made. Also, if you're not satisfied by the mod's answer, simply PM and request an unlock. We are ready to unlock if the OP isn't satisfied and wants to get further more information.

In that case, since the mod is unreachable, sending a PM to the Forum Admin would make sense.

Yes, sometimes mistakes do happen, but it is usually pretty easy to spot. But mistakes tend to happen to people that are not focusing on what they are doing. If someone can't focus their full attention on a task then maybe that task should be left for another time or person.

Some times the "right" answer today may be the "wrong" one in the future.

We don't post for future.Soon new tanki will come.Almost no answer is going to be correct for future.

Which is kind of my point. If all the "answered" questions are closed then when someone has something new to ask or add they will need to start a whole new topic. More confusion and even more search results to sift through. It makes more sense to be able to just revive an already open topic, even if it is considered old. Remember what is old to some, is new to others.

The short answer is, they should.

A wise person will take feedback and use it as he/she sees fit. We may not know if they choose to listen or not. The main point is that feedback has been given, and now it is up to the individual to decide if they want improve the guilty of their work or not. The secondary point is that, compared to many other forums, this one has a lot more closed and locked topics, and some for no real reason. We must remember that many of the mods are young and it is the job of older wiser people to teach younger people. I could easily just sit back and say nothing, and allow these young mods to continue on, blissfully unaware that their may be a better way to handle things, one that doesn't have people leaving this forum having had a bad experience.

Almost 3 months later and I can say some mods got it, and others didn't. But overall I feel the forum has improved.

You are sort of missing the point. Players don't ask questions by creating a new topic, they post in Q and A. If a player has a problem and posts in Problems and  Solutions, the process is that players answer the issue and when the topic starter has said thank you it now works, moderators will close the topic. This is easier for us, that topic then stagnates and gets moved to Archive, that's what those sections are for, there is no more use for that topic. If they have another issue they can post a new topic as long as they don't irrelevantly flood. For moderators having to find locked content and re open it takes a lot more time than closing and leaving it to move to Archive. We try not to close unless we really have to.

We always take in feedback from players, having it presented nicely and in a non aggressive manner. If one creates a topic moaning about moderators with flood and capitals, it's going to get closed. Topics like this give a good message, so we do listen.

but devs are not hearing the negative feedback and closing the topics which are against them.... is that right...?

Hazel-Rah has been very active in these complaint topics made by players. He gets the message and passes it onto other developers. Since so many topics like these have been created, the developers/moderators will close the duplicates. Look through the General section, there are quite a number of complaint topics. Hazel wants to keep some open, so we will leave them.

The most famous being this one.
