In this chat, you would only see message from your friends. My friends would not interact with the friends of my other friends.

Good idea! But do we really need this? If he is your best you can easily communicate with him on discord, teamspeak..

Yeah, its something that makes it just easier for trying to find old friends, I haven't played in years and ive been trying to reconnect with old mates.

I still disagree with the idea of friends categories. It will worsen the imbalance between casual players and regulars in battle.

 

But there could be a feature to mark some of our friends as 'best friends'.

 

And I think there should be more restrictions to the friends system and to clans. For example the number of friends to join the same team in a full battle should be limited to 3 (unless there's another group of friends in the other team), and no friends should be able to join the opposite team.

This "PM" in the game already exists. It's called "private chat" 

Doesn't work as good as my plan, and this was almost 4 years ago lol

Instead of  having two separate bottuns, why not just have like a star next to each friends name, and you can on click it to "Add to favorites", Inside the favorite tab, next to incoming request  you can see all your favorite friends, and/or send messages trough there or something, I would imagine the friends tab looking something like this : (https://postimg.cc/image/qxaaeq6dn/)

I think they might have gave up on it, who knows a lot of good ideas are still just under review

I guess, so however I always wanted a separate PM it would have made tanki more independent. Rather then having to give a friend a discord or TS

I think they might have gave up on it, who knows a lot of good ideas are still just under review

For most ideas, if you ask devs' opinion on them they'll just say "maybe some day it will be done, but right now we have other plans". So yeah, ideas are still valid, but there's no guarantee that they will ever be implemented.
