Unfairness in Tanki events

Hmm. Of course, you honestly can't prove this. Any of the members of staff playing could've invited their friends in-game, and, even if you claim you can detect this, there is no way that you can detect them messaging the battle link to others in Skype for example, before the link is actually aired. From staff members which were in the battle (who will remain unnamed), I've heard two accounts of a player who joined the battle seconds before the link was officially aired.

I'm aware of the situation that you have describe, and technically, you can't prove he joined before the links were posted. The links were posted to Facebook and the Forum at roughly the same time; however, the forum link was out slightly before the Facebook link was. A difference of maybe 6 seconds or so, but enough that if someone was constantly refreshing, they could take advantage of this and join first.

In the future, perhaps we'll use a different system of collecting applications and then selecting a number to play against the Staff instead of a free for all joining style game.

I agree. In this case, that 6 second advantage to Facebook meant that those in the forum stood no chance. I'd definitely support a different system.

That would be the best, tho who would be selected...we could disscous that...

suggestion: just clarify that the link will be posted only in a few places and at the same time. i thought the link would have been edited in the main post but i found out it was posted as a new post. i got a close call and i joined probably last.

ps: that was an awesome battle, i hope more players can have the  experience i had. keep em comin!

yea changed after  it

Clearly changed after. Have some sense please. No moderator would deceive like that as it would endanger our position and be counted as abuse of powers.

Famous players are always in such games because they are fast, how do you think they became famous? They were waiting for the link for about 15 minutes before it was posted.

blah blah blah )

as i said above..the idea that i gave above would be best as the lobby wouldn't lag and it is instant messaging

I agree. Theres something fishy going on, and its not the salmon i'm cooking... (Look in the spoiler for my ideas anyway).

Anyway, I feel that it should not be about the quickness of getting the link, as there is fishyness that comes with it. Maybe do these more often and have some "competition" or a "contest" to get some winners. Then, these winners are the ones that get invited. Also, if you dish that idea out, just have various rounds with smaller maps so there can be different players every round and more people get the chance to play. I would also like to add, that there should be a record of who had played in previous events/battles. Those who have been in recent ones cannot go into new ones for a while. This will allow more people to play as well.

Another strange thing is that the staff members were all seen sporting their respective staff paints as is evident on POTD topic with 0% protection while the players were allowed to use protection paints which is like handing over the match to the players.

If one is incredibely cynical, this event can be seen just as a facade for staff members to invite their friends and hand over free crystals to them as a nice christmas present.

If incredibely optimistic, like Anne Frank;

Quote:

".....I still believe people are really good at heart."

This was a very poorly managed event that left many loopholes which could easily be taken advantage of, by a section of the society rendering the chance of participating not equal for everybody in the community. This should definitely be improved.

What on earth are you talking about, guys? You have no proof to make any of these bold claims. The fact is, the people who got in were quicker. I can tell you for sure that NO ONE was invited to the battle as I saw the blue team completely EMPTY the first time (but accidentally joined the staff team in my hurry; anyone can confirm this). Both times, I was repeatedly refreshing every few SECONDS to see the link. For the second battle, I wasn't the first, but obviously not everyone who got in was in TFP or other stupid claims you're making.

yes different system would be a lot better but if you pick people at random make a video of it so we know it really was random

You could just stop posting unnecessary things and refresh the page every second to see the link, guys...

I did so and entered both battles :)

yea and for some like me the post appears 1 hour later..not efficient once so ever

That's just you then, because very clearly other people managed to get in. And it's only common sense that the forum will take less time to load than Facebook. You also said in battle chats and wherever you could manage that they didn't post the link at all - in fact, they removed it soon after it was full. You were just far too slow.

I personally think tanki is a really fair game, i just depends on what lengths you would go to inorder to win any sort of contest etc.. if you dont want to wait 15 minutes for a link to come out (mine hunt, fb battle etc), and continuosly refresh the page, thats your problem. Im not saying i would do that, but IMO it depends what lengths youre prepared to go to :)

Other players were waiting as well. And do you want to know how these "famous" players got in so fast? When the server was decided, all the mods changed to the server EN11, so minutes later we saw that most of the "famous" players are in the same server asking why are we all here.

And I can assure you NO mod invited a friend. Moreover, when Yele posted the link on Facebook, you should have seen the players that joined, 12 players join at almost the same second, that proves how fair it is, they joined at the same time because all of them were waiting and got the link at the same time.

And you were watching the forum and FB at the same time looking at who is online and who isn't?

Trust me when I tell you it ISN'T rigged, the chances were absolutely fair for everyone.

easy for you to say, your one of the staff.

Why not make more than one battle to at least give people a chance. Or you could kick everyone out and block them from entering the battle again, gives people waiting a higher chance to get in, you could kick 'em out after the round is over.I entirely agree with you mc.monkey! I was over at my friends house he waited 10 minutes to wait for the link to be posted through Facebook,by the time he clicked the link all spaces were filled.
