Player Joined Notification

          I got tired of people polluting the chat section in the lobby, so I turned it off + the fact that I don't want my parents to get a bad impression of Tanki. ;) (Thanks, by the way, to the chat moderators who somehow manage to keep it as clean as it is; I aprreciate it.) However. turning off chat made an issue I had all the more prominent.

 

          Why don't they give you the option to receive a notification every time one of your friends enters or leaves TankiOnline? That way you can stay up to date on whether your friends are available to chat or play games with on Tanki. Then you can turn chat back on, so that you can talk to them. For instance, if I am hoping to play a game with ????, I have to keep checking my friends tab to see if he/she has joined. Wouldn't it be beneficial to receive a notification if they joined? (If you wanted to be really advanced, the notification could give you the option to turn chat back on to talk to them.)

 

           Do you agree? Disagree? Did I miss the mark? Please tell me why, and thank you for answering. I am not trying to nitpick or be a bother; I just want to make Tanki even better. :)

Thanks for the prompt reply. I think it would improve the experience for everyone if you could be alerted to if your friends are online. Then you could chat or play with them.

You have a point there. Honestly though, the Tanki Online community shouldn't be acting in a way that would make your mother have a bad impression of the game. If the Tanki Online community is acting that way then there is a big problem (yes, I know there are those occasional rule breakers that never even get punished).

Very true. Anyways, that was my suggestion. Thanks for answering. I realize I may be the only one who really cares about it, so there is no point in continuing to argue. So despite the fact that I think it would be nice, have a good one. :)

P.S. I really appreciate those of you who have done it all and try to improve the experience for everyone. Thanks a ton!!

I think it would be nice, for a option, that turns off all chat, except from people on your friends list.

Really? I never saw it... then again I only saw the notification that a gold box was being dropped once. :) I got it too. Wait! Are you talking about the in-game notification? That is not what I am talking about. I want a notification that comes regardless of whether you are in the garage, friends tab, in a battle, etc. That way you know, "Hey, look. gardump is here ( I don't think that is an actual player). Why don't I go turn on chat so I can talk with him?" Do you see what I mean? And it would be nice if it told you their rank, too. Then you could see if you could actually play a game with them.

Or check the events list (the one on the right side with ******* joined or ****** destroyed ******) to see if a friend joined the game to chat him, and click the "Tab" button to show the list of players, if a friend is there, it will show up in light green.

I don't believe enough players having this issue for the devs to work on solving it. However, you can check your friends list every-so-often to see if a friend is on. Or check the events list (the one on the right side with ******* joined or ****** destroyed ******) to see if a friend joined the game to chat him, and click the "Tab" button to show the list of players, if a friend is there, it will show up in light green.

Nice idea, it would be cool to have this, but maybe add an option to turn it off?

 

(That's mostly for players who have, like, 200 friends and they get a notification every 5 minutes or so, increasing lag and making the game hard to play.)

I am not talking about an ingame notification, although it would be nice if it did that, too. The chance that you are on the same server and are playing the same game is rather small, don't you agree, lordmostafa? Instead, I want a notification that notifies you regardless of where you are (ie. garage, battle, chatting...). And, yes, deadtoyou, I want it to have the option to turn it off. Keep the comments coming, unless you don't want to. :D

This idea has actually been posted several times on the forum. just now i read like 5 posts about this topic. i would really like it, but sadly, since no tanki officials have responded, i dont think this will ever make reality :(
