problems in tanki that could be easily solved.

This will be long so please bear with me. This is my secondary account as i can't login with my primary, (devastator911) second lieutenant,because i play through miniclip. For some time i have been playing with the idea of posting a thread concerning the porblems i have faced in gameplay about which none seem to be bothered about or how it unbalances the gameplay dynamics. I decided to compile those problems into one thread as creating mutiple one's has its own set of problems.


Anyway moving on to the problems now:

The first irritating aspect of tanki i noticed is when a team battle is over the timer resets and it starts over instantly.Now this is not a problem for me but i have noticed that many players on either my team or enemy team lie dormant for sometime...maybe they are away from keyboard for a few seconds or a minute or maybe their mother called or maybe they just want a minute or two to relax after an intense battle. And because they lie dormant some players who are smart enough to take advantage of it try to capture a flag as soon as possible when the defense is least or minimal....and they also succed in it by capping one or sometimes two flags..wasps can accomplish this easily!

And then all they have to do is put up a good defense for the next 15 or 30 mins and walk away with the battlefund. If this has happened to you then please upvote it so the mods or devs see it.


Solution : This is only a general idea open for debating or modification by the players and concerned developers. Either introduce a rest period of 1 or 2 mins after every match or better still introduce a voting mechanism where only when more than 70% of a team's players have voted 'yes' will the battle start. The voting can either be typing in chat as we report offenders or a button prompt if it makes it easy or any other better idea if you can come up with.





Second problem:


Its not a problem but more of a convenience issue. Its been 4 months since i joined tanki and as soon as i joined witin a month i realised finding a proper suitable match can be sometimes time consuming because the user interface was not very friednly or convenient. But after a couple months tanki dealt with the problem beautifully but there is still room for imrpovement.


Features that can be good : (In order of improtance)

1.Advanced filters for listing out only the matches i want according to the time setting like 15 min matches or 20 min matches and so on. This enables a more refined list suitable for a players need rather than going through the long list of available matches at his rank.


2.A search system or a dropdown box with maps name wherein we can enter the the map we want and it will list out the maps from multiple servers..like if i want all the highland maps listed out from multiple servers and i can choose which one suits me best without jumping from server to server. (This might be slightly resource intensive for tanki servers)


3.A small message box under the battle invitation box. sometimes my friends invite me for a battle and am already in a battle and can't leave but i would feel good if i can make him understand why i cant join him right now....some people feel offended when you simply reject the invite..happened to me once where this kid thought i didnt want to play with him and removed me from his friend list lol :D. just a small box is needed for us to send messages like 'in a match' or 'will join after this match' and such.


4.A new kick system is a must. There are a few solutions out there on the forums but the most popular and decently effective is the one deviced by Absolutezero. LINK BELOW:

Open to ideas and deabte. If recieved well then i hope the devs or mods concerned take some steps to implement it in future.

Completely agree with the map filtering systems ....its real tough to find battles that match my criteria.....normally i have jump from server to server just to find a single match ......upvoted :)

2a. Time limits are already sorted in the lobby.

 

2b. I am sure that having an option to view every battle on every server would cause tremendous lag, even if it's only for one map.

 

2c. Suggested here: Best Friends System

 

2d. Yes a new kick system is needed, but as you said, it is already suggested here: Player's Moderation: Kick2

Ok, I just want to let you know, deadtoyou, that the more an idea is mentioned, the more likely something is to be done about it. So it is ok for him to put idea's out there that have already been mentioned. 

 

The solution to your first problem unfortunately wont work. Tankers should not be forced to type or use the chat system on tanki at all. Im pertaining to your voting system idea. If a tanker does not like a battle, then he can leave. He doesn't have to vote "No" and then ruin the battle for everyone else because he was the reason that there wasn't enough votes to keep the battle going. 

 

Your other idea's though I agree with. +1

Well thank you for pointing it out to me but let a mod be the judge if am repeating stuff that has already been posted because i read those posts and i do find things different which i will point out :

 

1.That title has words so uncommon and the result wont come up in the search results with general search terms. But its ok i agree that i should have done some extensive search rather than lightly looking for similar topics. I read that post and even though the gist might be similar his idea seems more complicated to implement than mine (could go in detail if you want)...mine is simpler in terms of either a timer or a simple reaction from players that they are ready for another round just like counter strike where they press 'F' key.

 

 

2.I know time limits are sorted but all i am saying is that there is room for imrpovement...it can be streamlined further. Coupled with the map searching option this could become really powerful..most of the online multiplayer games have these options.

 

 

3.I think here you have misunderstood me. i simply want to view those maps and stats from one server but dont mind jumping to that particular server when i actually join...Think of it like links to rooms in defferent servers but rather than having to jump to that particular server to view them,i cn view them on one server. What am saying is the search result will be similar to google search results..the actual matches will be hosted in different servers but the search will only compile them in a neat order for me to view from a single server...i have asked my computer programmer friends and they agree that it wont require any heavy firepower from tanki's servers..allt hey have to do is connect the api's from those servers to a central server.Let the actual programmers correct me if i am wrong.

 

 

4.I read that post and i dont want a PM system..they are much more complicated to implement than what i proposed. Not to mention some players may find PM too intrusive..am sure the generals or top players dont want a PM flood from everyone. mine is a simple box under the battle invite box..nothing else.

 

 

5.i know that kick system has been mentioned and that is why i linked it but you see i agree with NATCHGA who repied to you earlier that sometimes for the developers to heed to our requests an idea may have to be repeated by several people several times so that they realise that many want it not to mention people have a tendency to forget things very easily hence this will serve as a reminder of sorts even though i agree duplicate posts may take up space.

 

 

Now these are my opinions and if a mod thinks am just taking up server space then they are free to either lock it up or delete,i have no qualms.

well it might be an inconvenience to some but i assure you many would take that 5 seconds of inconvenience than a unfavourable battle score just because they were away for a minute.

 

Now as you say i already thought about those players that like to cause problems for others or become a nuisance and might vote a NO just to ruin the battle but that is where the 70% (changeable) comes into play. eg in highland battle of 10 players even if 7 out of 10 players vote yes the battle will commence irrespective of the NO that the other 3 players voted. And its not like every battle has more than 2 players who just like to cause trouble by voting a NO....look in my opinion i think even if it has some slight inconveniences i think the situation will not be worse than it is now.

Still the same type of idea.....

It could be improved, but they are planning those things for the Unity Version :)

It doesn't matter how you view them, the stats are constantly changing, and the servers aren't meant to work together in that way.

If you read the entire thing, he does mention that type of PM system, and other topics also suggest this very same thing.

Doesn't matter how you look at it, the Rules clearly say 

  • Do not create duplicates of already existing ideas, use the Search option first.

 

Now these are my opinions and if a mod thinks am just taking up server space then they are free to either lock it up or delete,i have no qualms.

Don't get me wrong, I do think that these ideas are worth implementing. :)

 

(Except 3, unless the Devs can figure out the lag problem.)
