It's the point of life. Reproduction. The union between the...yeah. If it's a legitimate chat or question, then why not? It's nature. but if it's trolls, spammers, stalkers, PWEBL (People With Extremely Bad Language), then take a screen and post it in the violators section

This practice should be banned out right.  Their are many very young people on this site, they are very vulnerable to predatory abusers.  Their could be a huge age disparity between the proposer and the victim. This is not a dating chat site and the moderators have no experience in specific handling or monitoring for abuse.  It is far easier just to ban it out right full stop.  Their are specific chat sites for exchanging affections or loyalties and children have dedicated sites that are properly watched by professionals including police and Child Protection agencies.  

 

If the practice is ignored then Tanki will attract the wrong sort of people and might be legally liable if any abuse is linked to them.  Authorities are getting very hot on this now.

Agreed, tanki was rated 6+ at a time, but all age ratings have been removed... back then forum was rated to be 16+, even though the content is still fine for 10 year olds.

NO, the best is that,Tanki legislate against this so that offenders receive the most severe punishment because the issues are so dire and serious.  Not all recipients are sensible or old enough to realize the potential harm that might befall them.  Some are very young, innocent and at risk from predatory pedophile. It would be an absolute tragedy if anyone where to come to any harm.  These predators are incredibly devious, patent and will go to extreme lengths to obtain a victim.  This site, nor its employees are not trained in how to deal with these things.  The best that can be done is to just ban the practice.

 

It is not only girls that are at risk but boys also!

I am not sure of the demographic, I suspect that the majority are teenagers.  I know for a fact that very much older people into their 60 play and know of many people under 10.    It is irresponsible, immoral and may have legal implications if Tanki allows the practice of seeking improper relationships.  Their is no way of knowing the age of any corespondent on here.  We know that people lie and the the sort of people that abuse children will certainly be exceptionally devious and remorseless in perusing their highly immoral and illegal aims.

 

The most effective, safe and sure way is just to ban those seeking relationships.

Somewhat agreed. Any relationship beyond that of simple friendship or brother/sisterhood just does not belong on an arcade shooter like Tanki. Like I said earlier, if they're seeking romantic relationships, there are specific websites for that that will suit their needs, like OKCupid or Tinder or e-harmony.

 

But to ban? No, a simple warning would do just fine. "Tanki is not a dating service, please do not do such things here" And if a ban is REALLY necessary, then no more than 5 minutes, it just isn't that severe of an infraction, unless the age difference is ridiculous and illegal.

Their is no way of Knowing the age.  You do not know mine, you do not even mo my sex, the name means nothing. I could be six or sixty male or female.  Just ban it make it very clear in the rules,. warn then ban I would just ban for life.  I have absolutely no sympathy for any form of pedophilia.  It is impossible to monitor if it is just not allowed then that is it far safer.

 

The Owners of Tanki and the Officials, Developers have a duty of care.  It is that simple.

I just tell them that they need to create a private battle or leave the game, because Moderators might ban them. That fact alone usually works, it's great incentive. :)

I do not use the chat only battle chat.  chat is just on my screen when I sign on to the lobby.  I can hardly follow most of it, it is inane mostly with the occasional sensible comment.  However I have noticed a huge increase from those seeking relationships.  It might be that some are misguided but innocent  However one only need a few or even one immoral or dangerous person.  Some children that get abused have also been murdered and the effects of abuse are very long lasting and most profound, affecting people throughout their lives into adulthood.   It ruins peoples lives and those close to them for ever, damaging future relationships, plaguing the victim with a life of potential purgatory and misery.  It is extremely damaging.

We can't just ban people for the fact they are looking for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. Finding a person you can share your feelings with is a blessing, there is no need of being afraid of it.

 

Of course no game is safe from cases you mentioned above, but there is no need to get paranoid. I agree with warning people and advising them not to use Tanki as a dating service, maybe even warning them.

 

But banning? No, just no. We will do our best to monitor the situation and deal with specific cases. But it's like closing all the game's chats just because some people swear in them. A solution that is simply too radical.
