Reduce power of garage supplies

Recommended Posts

Man, it feels like I haven't been around here in a while. I remember getting raked over the coals for pointing out why cheaters are so annoying! Glad there are some people who have some sense, unlike those who troll me. [this post is pretend trolling but otherwise sincere, HBJ]

It boils down to this for me:

Who has more skill?

The player who can be first in all battles, using no hacking and/or sabotaging...

...or the player who uses as many legal drugs to successfully compete against those cheater?

Basically, who works harder? A guy climbing a mountain step by step, inch by inch, with the help of energy drinks and special mountain equipment....or the guy who takes the elevator up?

Dear ChineseTankMan

Your opinion is appreciated, even if somehow different from mine or others, your previous comments made your point quite clear.

Your shouting (with big bold coloured fonts) is less appreciated ... and this quite is a trolling message, not appreciated too.

You stated your point and said "ok, I finish here and I leave" ... this is not the right idea of a "discussion", but rather a monologue.

Again, as I told you from the beginning, you are welcome, your ideas are listened and sure your activity is towards a better Tanki. But please accept a fair discussion (as this is) with various positions or this is not really the right place for your "jump in and go" comments.

You see .... if you just state something, thinking from the beginning that everything else is wrong crap, this is not the basis for a discussion!

Thank you

Using the same analogy to point out the fallacy of someone else's analogy is not trolling.
It only initially appears as such.

I did you a favour and just now edited in font size and bold it to show that I already pointed that out to HBJ [and others if they read it].

P.S. It's ok, after today I will have a lot less time to type in your thread, possibly not even to read it. ;)

..... but the fact remains, this game is getting a big following and the money is there.  I can think of a lot of sponsors that could end up being interested in ads on here, and in such a way no one could ever miss it and it would NEVER impact the game play.  .......

The reality is that in the global MMO market, TankiOnline is actually very unrecognized. It is extremely rare to find any mention of it on any of the major gaming sites and any that I have found are from several years ago. Tanki is merely a small web based flash game and doesn't have anywhere even close to the same level of popularity as some of the major MMO games. If you google Tanki Online you get mostly results about cheats, hacks and crystal hacks.

ANSWER:

Artificial lag

In the peer-to-peer gaming model, lagging is what happens when the stream of data between one or more players gets slowed or interrupted, causing movement to stutter and make opponents appear to behave erratically. By using a lag switch, a player is able to disrupt upload from the client to the server, while their own client queues up the actions performed. The goal is to gain advantage over another player without reciprocation; opponents slow down or stop moving, allowing the lag switch user to easily outmaneuver them. From the opponent's perspective, the player using the device may appear to be teleporting, invisible or invincible, while the opponents suffer delayed animations and fast-forwarded game play, delivered in bursts.[3] Some gaming communities refer to this method as "tapping" which refers to the users "tapping" on and off their internet connection to create the lag.

The term "lag switch" encompasses many methods of disrupting the network communication between a client and its server. One method is by attaching a physical device, called a hardware lag switch, to a standard Ethernet cable. By flipping the switch on and off, the physical connection between the client and the server is disrupted. The designers of Video game console hardware have started to introduce built-in protection against lag switches in the form of voltage detectors, which detect a change in voltage when the switch is flipped. Some manufacturers have taken counter measures to bypass or trick this detector.[4] This can also be achieved by simply unplugging the Ethernet cord going to the client, causing a disruption in the player's internet connection. Other methods, called a software or wireless lag switch, involve using a computer program. In this method, the cheater runs an application on a computer connected to the same network as the client. The application hogs the network bandwidth, disrupting the communication between the client and its server. However, one cannot do this for an unlimited amount of time. Usually, having no internet connection for 30 seconds will cause one's character / player to be kicked from the game due to inactivity / no internet connection.

In the peer-to-peer gaming model, lagging refers to a player with a faster connection flooding an opponent(s) using a basic denial-of-service attack outside the game structure.

When will you realize that NO ONE uses drugs against cheaters. They want to have the upper hand against people who don't. It's simple.

The energy drinks the 1st guy takes are the things that are ruining the economy of the elevator company.

Thank you, Brubook! I hope I can be of some use here.

And ChineseTankMan lets try to come up with our own analogies, hmm?

BTW cheaters, when caught, should get an automatic IP Ban/ Account removal.

As for druggers, I suggest a system where you may only use a set limit of drugs from your supply per battle, say 2 of each power-up. (mines don't count)

I never had read aboutthis.  This is an excellent bit of information and a reminder to me that when I'm in battles with severe lag for no reason, when my previous battles were without, I shouyld simply leave that battle, as it's being tampered with.

Thank you for this explaination.

This is true, but in the grand scheme of things, as far as free to play, pay to win type models, this must be one of the most successful.  Sure WoW and all of that is head and shoulders above the rest, but really you can't compare, you can play this for free.  Having a Star Ladder is a start, and while it's a drop in the bucket comparatively speaking to things like LoL, 100000+ viewers for the finals says that people do know about it, just not as main stream.  The reality here to is the world of Tanki, not a lot of people want to learn how to play a game for tactics, strategy, and skill.  Hell, MK for iPad is a joke.  Tap the screen alot, I mean really, it's pathetic.  It's the world we live in, but rest assured, just Like Virtua Fighter is the KING of fighting games hands down (and no, no one can tell me otherwise, it is the most complex and difficult of all the fighters to master, taking months and years to become a real expert), Tanki stands in that category.  Vehicular combat with varied platforms and create specialized game play for each player, and yet cooperative tactics between them for the purposes of team advancement.  There is only one threat to that of course . . .

DRUGS

but then, that's what were talking about here anyways.  I digress, point is, yes, it's smaller than many, but I think it's likely to gain far more traction oncethe Unity version is deployed and all platforms and all devices can play it.  In fact, I predict it might blow itself out of the water, and they need to be ready for some SERIOUS growth.

I disagree.

That's not nearly proactive enough against cheaters.

No, because that's you then giving in to intimidation and they then psychologically won.

Well, perhaps, but what can be done if they are lagging me out.  I have even complained ofthis in the past.  I recall several occasions where I posted about strange lapses at critical shot moments that left me dead when I should have had the shot and helped the team turn the tide.  I feel better now knowing that my intuition was NOT wrong and that the frequency and conditions were NOT all just coincedence.

I already provided the solution when the ideal solution won't be implemented.

I understand your frustration.

Other than when I'm hacked, I do only have 12.55 Mbps download speed and only 0.75 upload speed.

One major blow to Unity TO was dealt when Google announced they will be dropping Unity Web player support. Tanki will unreachable by anyone using one of the most largely used browsers on the planet. And don't forget Unity web players is not available for Linux users either.

Artificial lag is used by gold box hunters all the time. How else do the dictators always end up on top of the pile? Unless they are filled with helium.

Sorry, I still think that cheater has to be fought by Tanki and drugging against cheaters is wrong and useless!

Making drugs reserved to buyers would just furtherly increase the gap and the unbalance between druggers and non druggers, definitely make this game a pay-to-play game (now it is "only" a pay-to-win !!! )

Hmm there was an idea by someone earlier in this thread about adding stuff that doesn't affect gameplay . If im right then that refers to things objects and things that provide flair and they look good but they dont do anything gameplay wise. I think this idea should be expanded on because tanki can make alot of money off of it and it would not affect non buyers

You said "drugging against cheaters is...useless".

Really? Have you even tried?

If you have, then you lack skill because I almost always succeed against them (even when they also drug, though that's obviously more difficult for me to respond to) when doing so and that further aggravates them.

Except that nonbuyers would complain that they don't get access to the same thing for free.

Here are our options currently:

[regardless on whether the cheaters use drugs or not]

1- win with almost no chance against the cheaters by us not using drugs

2- win with us most of the time having a chance against the cheaters by us using drugs

[cheating = hacking, including with artificial lagging and/or being booted, and sabotaging our teams with fake/non players]
