Reduce power of garage supplies

Recommended Posts

Shafts can rack up so major killing without dying, if they are smart ( I am for that matter, really, sub genius in fact, so I know what I'm talking about)

If I am on a good team that is focused on getting the flag or protecting our flag then I will spend my entire round harassing shafts.

The laser makes it quite easy to find their blind spots and attack them from the side or rear. This is probably the best use for Thunder or Rico.

Some of them camp with mines around them so I switch to a heavier hull to counter the mines.

This topic has reached a point where new ideas are wanted, since Administration is less than willing to respectfully come and talk to us.

This lack of respect is sad, great companies treat their customers in a whole different way, that's why they remain great.

Anyway.

We have to find possible solutions within the issue itself. I mean, take for granted that supplies won't change and druggers will keep raiding the maps, ruining the battles.

What do we do?

Do we start a campaign in social media? Do we organize some kind of abstention from Tanki for some days? Or do we simply let go and move on to some other game?

What do you think?

For myself, I am moving on. I don't feel that there are enough players who believe, to launch a  social media campaign. Maybe I'm wrong?

Most players like things as they are. Some see our point but won't do or say anything that would put them out. The majority just laugh , throw abuses and give us titles. I was called "drug whiner" in 3 different battles yesterday after complaining about the level of drugging. I don't see us making much of an impact in social media. If my disgust and weary resignation are showing, I apologize. This game is a cesspool of nasty attitudes and bad outlooks. It has worn me down.

Organizing abstention seems to me like giving them what they want, "Our Silence."

This leaves one choice for me...leaving.

I have really been deep thinking this matter as I moved from battle to battle this week.I just wanted to really watch and see if there was some hope. There's not. The problem is pervasive at all levels and I don't care what anyone tries to say here. My last battle yesterday was a Rio CTF  on server 2. I was the lowest rank and the only Captain. The abuse was rampant, I was spawn killed 3 times in a row...on and on and on. The drugs and druggers "are" this game now. I say to anyone, " If you drug at all then you are a part of this very large problem!"

The only way this game would have any integrity would be to play just tank and rank. Fight with the abilities of the tank you chose and your abilities. You know, like real tanks do. This is a super hero game now with no future. It is nothing more than a money pit  and I won't put another penny into the hands of people who will not even reach out to a group within their community that just wants some morality and ethics to exist here. I will be leaving here soon and uninstalling the game from my computer. I hope you good folks on the forum find some answers and I'm sorry for those of you who are veterans here and have to see this day. I'm sorrier still for those who play this game and can't see past their own self-centered needs. For you folks... I have no doubt thatyou will reap what you sow. Thanks especially to RustyNail and creeperskelly for keeping it real.

I understand you and I would agree with you (i.e. move on) but for an unfinished business. I suppose it will take until September, then I too will abandon this filthy made game.

Let them have their drugs and the abuse.

So, I wish you the best of luck, for whenever you feel like logging off for good. :) A happy summer and lots of fun wherever you find a place to spend your leisure time.. Thanks for the support and the inspiring texts you provided for this topic.

C ya man :)

The original post here is very well written and sums up the whole issue very well. When the opposition are all appearing in you base with multiple drugs the game is instantly ruined as half of the defending team leave due to the ridiculous drugging they are encountering.

For me Tanki players fall into 2 groups. The first group are able/prepared to spend real money on the game, the second group are not.

Those spending real money for crystals think nothing of buying the supplies kits and using drugs at every available oportunity. The worst ones being those that have to drug the second they spawn as they do not even seem to be able to drive a tank without having double armour or shields active. These are also the players who need to drug even if their team has double the number of players than the opposition. These players do not see how ilogical it is to spend 1000 crystals worth of drugs to win 200 or 300 at the end of the battle.

Then there is the second group like myself that does not see the point of spending money to buy crystals for drugs. I do use mines and heal packs at times, but rarely use the other 3 (I have thousands of each in my garage) unless absolute frustration kicks in and I use a double power on the persistant druggers. I would rather save my crystals for better equipment and upgrades.

I would like it that Tankers can only use one drug at a time, even if they are airdrops. That way you must pick which of the 3 (armour/speed/dp) you want to use. After the drug has run out there will be a 30 second gap before you can activate the next one.

I think it would also be good if Tanki made some drug free servers. If the server was called DF 1 everyone entering it would know that no one will be using drugs.

Druggers say go play pro battles... I do, I have a pro pass but the downside is the majority of pro battles will be on a very limited number of maps. Trying to get enough people playing a 6v6 Rio for instance can take an age. Pro passes must also come down significantly in price to make them available to everyone. At lower to middle ranks they are simply not cost effective as the battle funds will never justify the outlay.

The sad thing is my friends list is littered with people who no longer play Tanki because they were fed up with losing to the "who drugs most" team. Even more sad is the ammount of people I see in chat talking of giving the game up because of it.

I get that Tanki need people spending real money, they aren't developing the game just for fun but to earn a living. The irony is those who spend hard cash now still will, they will buy equipment and upgrades instead.

Goose

the server part seams very logical with recent shuting down of servers now the great idea would be to add new servers witch have diferent properties

Well .... the lack of interest and pleasure of playing Tanki is taking place on me!

I think I barely kind of played maybe 15min in the last 4 days. There are druggers on every battle and every battle is won just 1234 style ONLY. This game is definitely not a matter of skills, equipment, strategy or team play anymore. Just drugs ... who drug more (or in more right moments) wins. That is it!

At this stage I just spend some time (while doing something else) to find a suitable battle, and most of the times I just give up.

Unbalance reigns! Battles with 20 - 0 scores is the standard, as well as battles with 8 vs 2 players after the first 5-10 minutes.

This is bad, weird and sad. And devs and mods just don't care at all! They think about popcorn and the way to say "drugs are cool" ... with a bit more of courage they could be good pushers, and they would make much more money!

They are just trying to find polite ways to making fun of us ... what they don't realise is that people is not all completely stupid and this disrespectful behaviour with their customers (the ones that give them their wage) will just lead to Tanki failure, as it is already starting to happen.

The same effect of drugs on the road is the drugs (or supplies) here on this place full of young unmoulded minds.

I have seen, I have heard and I know that my sentiment is not something just mine. I see people leaving the game and people (like me) still staying but not playing much.

Now, we probably don't have the "magic recipy" to solve this problem; yet we all had many ideas and made lots of proposals. They (and we) should have been taken care of! We deserved attention! Devs should have shared their ideas and solutions to the problem ... or Tanki Unity will be Tanki Failury, even before start! Let's remember that this bad sentiment will give Unity a bad start too!

I will not last long in here, as very probably many other persons will!

I am not sure I will have time ... but having time, the most appropriate thing to do is to tell this story, let the net know how this Company treat his clients, how this Company answers to clients issues!

Yet there is a positive side out of this crap! I have "met" here many nice persons! :)

Every time I find my self in an extremely unbalanced battle I leave, unless only 2-3 minutes remain until the end (and then of course I leave). After the second unbalanced battle I not only leave the battle but I log off as well. Next day, we 'll see...

Not a single minute of frustrating in-game time!

Is Tanki listening?

I do believe they are :0)

I notice that Tanki management have pretty much decided not to take part in forum discussions apart from the odd comments from helpers.

However, I'm encouraged that the recent update has helped reduce the serial 'abuse' of the Health Pack.  I.e. I have found it possible to kill any tank, even HammerKings and ThunderKings which makes more of the battles playable again.  So thumbs up to Semyon and team for that.  (I have had to massively MU my gun to do it.)

By the way NOBODY asked for MORE MINES - the level was fine as it was.  Fortunately Smart Cool Downs means the abuse of them is still relatively rare - depending on the map.

Next we see the new Hardstyle competition that appears to encourage all out supplies use!  I'm sure Hazel Rah though that that hugely funny.

This is a 'hopeless' competition - the only good thing is that it will show how 'one-sided' the battles quickly become and hence, very boring to watch.  This will be proof that unlimited use of garage drugs causes imbalanced battles - mainly because spawn killing is too easy and the air drops are quickly dominated by the leading side.

So our 'campaign' goes on, until the day 'sportsmen' players are given the OPTION to choose battles with reduced use of garage drugs (or Pro Mode is made more popular).

Every day we see many games ruined because the balance is lost and the reason for this is not just because of the over use of garage drugs:

The bottom line for me is that Tanki need to do more to help with the game balance so we get more close fought battles and see less sides quitting.

As we know, Tanki works very hard on the balance of the tank combinations - it's amazing they do so little about the battles themselves.

Thanks to Brubook for showing us the Tanki 'mission statement' aiming to make the game more enjoyable without letting commercial pressures interfere.  Tanki seem to have lost sight of this.

Causes of Tanki game imbalance:

At present only about 10% to 20% of battles have a good balance ('good games').  This gets worse at higher ranks.

1.         Number 1 culprit is the sales of supplies kits - these cause about 8% of tankers to abuse them and spend more in crystals than they earned in the battle.

We accept this puts commercial pressure on Tanki and we know these sales hurt the balance of the games.

Why not prevent the 'leading side' using more than 10% of the 'garage drugs' compared to the losing side - this would help the balance.  Just have an indicator on screen to show the limit.

In fact just showing the amount of garage drugs used by each tanker on the scoreboard would be most 'illuminating' and we can better judge the good players from those who need 'power ups'.

2.         The 'power' of DD and DA could be reduced to say 75% of the current level.  At present it is cheaper to buy drugs kits than to upgrade your tank - this encourages more 'abuse' in the game.

3.         We know that some sides are just 'weak' due to random selection - nothing we can do about this - until we could be helped by an OPTION to enter battles via a Tanki control that makes use of forthcoming player 'stats' (scoring rate per hour over the last 3 months) (and NOT K/D ratio - which is mostly meaningless).

4.         Air Drops cause imbalance because the leading side can use more of them.  I.e. the leading side just gets stronger and stronger as they gain territory.  The leading side needs to be prevented from using Air drops - this will help the losing side catch up and balances the sides.  Try it and you will see what I mean.  Also the losing side will be less likely to quit because they now have a chance.

5.         At present many of the best players left in the game will always join the leading side - this gains them more crystals.  This causes massive imbalance - see option 3 above.

6.         A certain amount of 'mult' behaviour is possible in Tanki - one of these is planting 'useless' tanks on the losing side.  This needs AbsoluteZero's 'Kick2' mechanism to allow removal of very low scoring tanks.

What can be done without Tanki co-operation?

At ever opportunity - keep campaigning for better balance in Tanki battles and refer to this post and the post on page 71 (we will need Russian help.)

I do not think it is good to 'rubbish' Tanki - I think the people behind Tanki are genuine enthusiasts who have simple lost sight of how to balance the game or given in to commercial pressures.

We can show examples of the imbalance on YouTube to demonstrate the 6 points above.  But we should also take care to show examples of good balance (= low drug use games) when Tanki remains the best in the world.

We can use DM mode and keep away from the druggers - works for some.

We can ALWAYS buy Pro Mode passes - just sadly this is a waste of crystals at present - but the more users we have the better it will get.

The best players can make a point of always joining the losing side (check it's not losing by 'too much' and avoid druggie battles - easy to spot from the scoring).

By joining the losing side in an attempt to 'turn it round' means that often after a few battles a balance starts to be achieved, resulting in many good battles (this is what I do).  Good players joining the leading side often means a 'rout' will occur and the loosing side quits = waste of time.

We can use Red paint for the first 5 minutes of each days play - this visually demonstrates that the 'Sportsmen' are asking for better balanced matches (= a visual protest that Tanki cannot ignore).

Sadly its might take years to spread that message! :0(

I estimate that over 70% of tankers are potential 'sportsman players'.  Sadly many of these have quit Tanki - which means we now have a growing 'percentage' of 'ruthless players' who will only play on the leading sides in order to maximise crystal gains - this adds to the imbalance.  These players will quit a losing side as early as possible and thus the losing side gets weaker very fast.  Some will even swap sides!  a bit like playing the stock market to maximise earnings with no care for the 'crash and burn' of the losing side.

I still find Tanki excellent fun by choosing my battles carefully - it's just it could be so much better with a few minor tweaks that would make life better for the majority of tankers.

Number one - I would like to see Tanki publically reaffirm they are committed to help make more of the battles balanced and limit the effect of 'commercial pressures'.

Tanki can simply try some of our ideas as an 'experiment'.

This way Tanki will become more popular again by attracting a huge group of sportsmen players back to the game.

At that point I can start recommending Tanki again.

I too have enjoyed the many comments from like minded players - all sport should have a civilised side - Tanki have to decide if they want a Sport or not?

If not they should leave the eSports channel.

Wow, someone here have actually gave a credit for the change in repair kits..

Yeah, not much of a significant change really.....but in the test server, I did notice it's harder to be "invincible"....but I still owned the DM and CTFs :D

Anyway, that's a baby step in the right direction!

It's not bad, what they did to it really. I thought it was something 'significant', but it didn't change much of anything for me, so it was good.

I heard it from V-Log and I think it is a step forward, even if in battle I still see the blinking healing icon all the time.

I basically noticed it because I heard about it, unfortunately not because I saw significant difference in druggers playing behaviour.

But it is probably too early to draw conclusions.

90 pages for babystep sounds like a good job for me.

Uhm ... at that steps rate we would see Unity in 25 years!

First of all, 90 pages should tell you that there is a problem!

... and 90 pages should tell you also that noone took care about that problem for several months.

... 90 pages and 60.000 instant daily players less than before maybe should give the idea that there is some sort of connection between the two things.

Noone here probably has "the solution", yet someone should have been done something in the right direction already or, at least, something should be done now (before it is too late)!

Is the repair kit nerfing a beginning, or is it just the sweet for the donkey (of course I am the donkey! :) )?

Someone should tell them that 90 pages of contribution, 4 months, 24.000 total views regarding one of the top issues of their game deserved more than a casual visit from a representative. Much more in fact.

A honest talk, to start with.

Then, if they decide to do one single thing, no matter how small, they should "sell" it to us. Announce it, promise that the issue is under consideration, at least show some respect for our efforts to gather footage, opinions and a list of possible solutions.

And last but not least, make a conversation in regard to Unity. To show that they appreciate our presence here and that they want us to be there for Unity as well.

I still feel disappointed. Well, it maybe doesn't matter for me anymore, but there are players that still wait for a solution. They haven't turn their backs to Tanki yet.

There is another way to solve this problem

If they made a server/client version of Unity it would be amazing.

Tanki would still maintain the database of all players and their garages. They would still make money from selling crystals and make money from selling the software.

The players run the servers and Tanki makes money from selling the platform. Then the server operators could choose how the rules are implemented (for example a server operator could disable the use of drugs on the server).

Just a thought.

You will see Unity in less than a year regardless of this discussion.

Your 90 pages of 'several months problem' is, in reality, a 6 years problem. I told you supplies are with this game almost from the beginning.

Most likely change could be the lowering of supplies power down to 150%. I tried it, it wasn't good. We had discussed it with other game designers and made decision not to change it.

When I was last time around here I asked why you do not calculate what will happen if you lower supplies power. You prefer to feed me with everything you had been discussing here, as if I had no idea what was it. Lowering supplies power even to x1.5 will make supplies useless for many turrets due to same number of shots it will need to land on enemy tank. If there is no difference, there will be no supplies.

Your goal in this discussion is to make supplies as harmless as possible, while we aim to make them as widespread as possible. Aside from monetization, SCD'ed supplies makes battle tactics shift everytime someone using any supply. This adds more layers to the gameplay. While your goal will be to cut this additional layers out of the game, your suggestions will stay unanswered.

Have you read every suggestion and elected them? We have about 30 suggestions, and you came here to discuss one?

First of all, I want to add that x2 power is also cause what you say.

If you see the drug consument differences between ricochet, twins, please think that.

Any types of damage increasement would cause the same problem because these guns are not made to be balanced with drugs, am I wrong?  B)

What the players do is keeping drugger position as much as possible, that doesn't really add great strategies.

I think you should keep silent, at least th,s doesn't escelate the discuss.

Nobody with any sense here is suggesting to remove supplies completely.

I was having a discussion with my son this evening about what it means when something in a game is "OP"

He's designing mods for Minecraft now (he used to play Tanki but got frustrated with the druggers so he hasn't played in months and probably never will play again - it was because of him that I started playing Tanki). So, in effect, the drugging has cost you potential income in this respect because I would have likely spent some real money as a present to upgrade his tanks.

He was thinking about how great it would be to design a weapon for Minecraft that would make it easy to kill mobs and would be practically unbreakable.

I told him "What is the point of that? What reason is there to play it like that? What point is served by spawning and immediately being able to kill every mob with a single hit with a weapon that never breaks? How is that fun?"

I then explained to him what it meant to be "OP"

I then said "If you are going to create a new mod for Minecraft and want to include new weapons then you need to balance them - for example, if you want to make a sword with a high attack damage then you need to give it some weakness so that it is balanced - such as breaking easily -  both a pro and a con to it. It needs to be both challenging and fun."

The problem with the the use of supplies in Tanki is that none of them have a con. They are all buff with no nerf. There is no disadvantage to using any of them at all. If the turrets are naturally unbalanced due to reload and power then adding more power to them automatically makes them even more unbalanced.

Having to wait a few seconds between using one supply and another isn't a nerf. It's not even an inconvenience since one can easily pick them up and use garage supplies back to back.

I used Tanki as an example of imbalance when explaining OP to my son.

I said "Consider double damage, for example. It gives you double armor but has no negative effects. If it was balanced it would give you double armor AND add weight to your tank for the duration of the effect. Double power would give you more damage per shot but would have a negative effect similar to Vulcan - the more you use it the more damage you cause to your tank."

If the supplies had a pro and a con then THAT would really mix things up and make game play much more interesting. It would add strategy back to what is becoming nothing more than a n00B drug fest.

It is this very reason of all pro and no con as to why the existence of supplies and drugging in this game can never add balance. In effect it is like playing Minecraft with a sword that kills every mob with one hit. Why bother playing like that?

Okay, I want to say my suggestion back.

Remove heal supply and refund that

Make daily missions drug rewards too low.

Reduce drops.

Make non-buyers lack of DP and DA, make buyers with DP and DA.

Then, keep equipment discounts %25 for next 6 months. ( I mean: if you want to make a discount, don't make it %50)

So, what the players got because of refund will go to equipments and they will start to buy again.

Why not?

That will make players angry for a short time(just like after every update), but then they will feel a lot better.

What you should see is that the problem is heal drug, the others are acceptable.
