Can't turn left when firing

 Share

Recommended Posts

Ok, so my steering is fine and all. I use the arrow keys. But when I am firing (for example: my firebird) I can go forward and turn right, but when I try to fire and turn left at the same time, it is not completed. It will just stay still or if I am moving forward, move forward without any left direction. When I stop firing I then can turn left. How can I fix it?

It is called "Ghosting"

"Ghosting" is the problem that some keyboard keys don't work when multiple keys are pressed simultaneously. The key presses that don't show up on the computer or seem to have disappeared are said to have been "ghosted". On most keyboards, even some that are explicitly marketed as "Anti-Ghosting," this happens with many three key combinations. Imagine playing your favorite video game and not being able to, say, moving diagonally and fire your weapon at the same time (say pressing a, w, and space simultaneously) - Microsoft

There's no fix for Ghosting other than buying a new (anti-ghosting) keyboard, aka a Gaming Keyboard.

Ghosting is when you have those three keys pressed, and a 4th 'ghost' key is sent by the keyboard (before you hit a 4th key). May I suggest that you try another keyboard to see if you are experiencing the same thing?

For more information on what causes ghosting and strategies that keyboard designers use to reduce the problem, see Keyboard Ghosting Explained.

Keyboard ghosting is a default problem which unfortunately cannot be fixed. Getting a gaming keyboard normally fixes the problem.

So only buying a gaming keyboard is the solution to your problem.
