Bad idea, we will start to see many people choosing girl as their gender...

This is really stupid. After having played this game for years and after seeing lots of fads among the community come and go, I have to say that the recent influx of 10-14 year old kids getting on Tanki and looking for "gf and bf" is the worst thing to happen to this game since druggers. The addition of a gender identification system would only enable these kids more. Imagine all of the horndogs from a social MMO trying to get ass while you're trying to play the game. 

 

The gender system would also not be much of a help to trans-gender people. If you identify as female and tell the game that you're a female, what if someone calls you out on being a biological male? You'll only be messed with and hated on simply for being who you are. 

 

I know I'll get hate, but whatever. I identify as a female. That's no big deal, but if I were to use this gender system and people saw pink on my name and tried to hit on me (which is GOING to happen, since most tankers now are just f***boys) I'd get nothing but horrible backlash once they figured out that I was not actually a girl in the way that they thought. 

 

Call me an SJW or whatever you want, I know it's coming. 

 

What I'm saying is that this is a horrible idea and if it ever saw the light of day, I can guarantee that people would leave.

Gender, age, nationality, or any social status does not affect gameplay. Why should I care if I destroyed a girl player or vice versa?

It's when you like both guys and girls. Regardless of your own gender. Like me, I've dated guys and girls and I enjoy both. It's nothing like transexual or anything.

Easy to solve. In order to activate gender display they need upload a picture of their ID / Drivers licence in their account settings and wait for it to be approved be whoever would be in charge of checking that. Same like on social media when you need to verify that you are not fake. If this idea gets into the game , this way it would be harder for Fakes to appear =)

No offence, but that's not even close to "easy to solve". Uploading any official documents to prove your identity in an online game is just absurd. Why would anyone want to trust their ID info to some random moderator or admin on the internet?

 

Heck, even Facebook, the ultimate identity database, doesn't require any proof.

Once you set your gender, you have some minutes to correct it if you were wrong.

Once you changed it, the feature should be locked for about a week.

 

This will make it hard for some funny guys to swap their gender for some jokes; and setting it right later on.

If they change it for a joke.. then they have to live through this joke longer then they like to ;)

to keep the work load of the tanki helpdesk lower ;)

But whatever amount they choose.. a decent time delay should help more then none.

 

As it is possible to trick it (scenario: boy pretends to be a girl, system does not allow a changeback within 4 weeks, he will simply switch his fake-girl-gender to private :p) the switchability from public to private should be locked up as well... maybe by an increasing delay period each time.. idk yet..

I would like to see this, although a lot of people will obviously set themselves with the wrong gender.
