Some final thoughts and goodbye

I never thought I would quit so soon, and post about it on the forum, but don't worry it won't be cheesy, and I won't write a novel while I'm at it. Just some reasons on why I left and some thoughts, on the game.

 

I'm getting busier with uni looming, but the main reason is that Tanki is just not fun to me any more.

 

The first reason is the amount of imbalance. Buyers have too much advantage in the game. The difference between M3/M4 is huge, and let's face it. It might be possible to save for one or two, with good sales planning, and a lot of hours on the game, but with game balance constantly shifting, it's never going to be enough to own a complete garage. With daily missions, supplies are now in even less supply, giving buyers an even larger advantage.

 

I mean, buyers should indeed have an advantage, but not to the point where buying is more important than actually being skilled at the game.

 

Leading on, the second reason is that I feel that there is a constant squeeze on the players themselves, which is not nice. Micro upgrades, Daily Missions, removing crystal boxes, game balance changes, all squeeze on the less wealthy players, who can't afford to micro upgrade their tanks as much, who can't rely on winning battles as a main source of income, who can't afford the variety in their garage to cope with nerfs and buffs. Game balance is constantly being changed, which forces players to invest in more and more. How can you plan purchases ahead if at any point that weapon might be nerfed?

 

Sales are rarer and rarer, and the well established tankmans day that many will have been looking forward to is down from the usual 50%.

 

The daily missions especially was interesting to me, as players actually ended up much worse than the situation was before they were introduced at all. I'm not saying that Tanki had planned this prelaunch, but I can't say I'm surprised.

 

Apologies if this has come across as super critical. There are many things that make it a great game, which is why I think I have been playing so long and eventually joined the staff.

Good luck to Tanki, may Unity be a success, and maybe I'll be back sometime soon.

Well, someone had to take the call. I appreciate your doing this. In fact, I myself don't play this game for fun anymore. I just play when I have nothing else to do. In my honest opinion, the deterioration of the game started when crystals boxes were removed. It was a bold and frankly, unnecessary move. They removed it to revert the side effect caused by their previous update.

The highly overpriced Micro Upgrades are also, IMO, not properly structured. (If MU'ing M0/1/2 is worthless, why do they even exist at all? I only MU my equipment to counter MU's of others. I do because I don't have a choice. That inspires the feeling of being forced to do something and takes all the fun out of that.)

Daily Missions feels like a joke now. They showed us the greener grass on the other side and then they stopped fertilising the grass. The rewards which I get from Daily Missions are not enough for a player with half as many exp points than me. 5× DA, 5× Nitro? They won't even last 15 minutes in a not-so-intense battle.

I could really go on, but I think I've made my point. For many players who have been playing since 2-3 years, this game just isn't worth it. But, they stick around because it's hard to let go of something you've enjoyed.

Yes, sir, seriously. You were like a mentor to me all those days I was striving to reach the newspaper team. You taught me that the way to join up is to persevere, and your CTS contest is what made me what I am today.

 

The Issue before you joined, you took a 'break' due to a 'family bereavement', as Rem put it. Little was I to know that one of the most legendary members of the Press left us that day. I always hoped you would come back, but when GoldRock told me you left...... that was the final straw.

 

We'll all miss you, champ. Have a great time at the university and enjoy real life. While I cannot agree more with the decisions for which you left Tanki, I can only make a humble request not to forget the English Community and silently hope that you will be back one day.
