Change in forum feedback mechanism

This is the best update ever!  Your clear honest contempt for the people who play your game and post in this forum has never been precisely spelled out before, though it has been strongly implied.  I will return in the future to praise whatever updates you make, regardless of how much I actually hate them, since that is what you obviously want.  I'm off now to put a "like" on OP.

Worst update on the forum -_-

EDIT: Actually 1 good thing out of this update so far, you can unlike something if you accidentally like the wrong post. :D

Tankers,

We have just reworked the feedback mechanism in the forums.

You can still LIKE posts. However, from now on, if there’s something you disagree with, you will have to express your criticism in the form an actual post.

Why did we do this?

Because the forum is where you come to express your opinions, as well as give your feedback and critique — it’s a place for open discussion.

But when that feedback is just a DISLIKE button, there’s no dialog. There’s no way of understanding what the criticism is about, and no way of acting on it to make the situation better.

A simple DISLIKE button does not improve the discussion, and it does not make the community or the game a better place.

We hope this change will help improve dialog in the forum, for all the above reasons and more.

Please feel free to share your opinions about this change by leaving a comment below. As always, the more detailed your feedback, the more helpful it will be.

the dislike button does improve the forum for a major reason. it allows a tanker to express disapproval with a post without starting a debate that can ramble on for pages and pages.

I think it would be good to add another way to show a topic's popularity. Something like a view/like ratio, because the current number of likes doesn't accurately show to what extent most players agree with the topic. Although I agree that forcing players to express their opinion in a comment instead of just downvoting the post is a good thing.

there was a better way to show the popularity of a post, it was the downvote button. forcing players to post isnt necessarily a good thing.

A ton of us can agree that the old reputation system was 100 times better than this new, "Like This" system. So here's my idea.

Rather than putting it all back like it was before (because ideas like that aren't allowed), I want to suggest a few changes to the update.

Instead of the "Like This" button, there should be an upvote button, then a little box right beside it which shows the total amount of positive votes. Then the same with a downvote button, there should be the button, then a little box beside them showing the total amount of negative votes. Then, last but not least, there should be another box beside it that shows the entire reputation of the post. And of course, when clicking on the any of the buttons, it will pop up a window with the names of the voters. In the end, it should look something like this (just in buttons of course):

↑ ↓ 2 - ↑ 3

No one will even read it here :/ I have a separate idea, totally irrelevant to this update

Actually, if you want your idea to be seen by the developers, this is the place to post it. They read every post in this topic.

All stupid ideas get locked or hidden, so good luck with that :)

But if you want your idea to be seen by the developers, this is the place to post it.

I don't mean to be rude to them, but when was the last time they listened and did anything with out feedback. It changes nothing...

"If it ain't broken, don't fix it."

MAF, if the devs truly read our comments, I want them to look at this, then think reeeally hard. If nothing happens next, it means they didn't read it.

Well, I liked dislike button, because I always disliked noob class updates from TO, like the Daily Missions rewards cutdown, but it will stop many noob tankers who downvote for fun and abused it. Nice!

But you couldve made it dissimilar to Facebook dude!

I don't know why u like this update ..  most probably u will lose the record for most down-votes.

I neither like nor dislike this update but tanki resorting to this tactics at the near end of life

Of flash tanki is certainly not wise.

You can argue the exact same thing with the like button.  The person doesn't know what you liked about; many posts have multiple parts to them making things complicated.  So with Tanki logic, might as well removed like button too.

Hmm, interesting point. However, when you like a post, it's the equivalent of saying, "I agree with what this player said," which doesn't need much further explanation. When you dislike a post, you're saying "I disagree with what this player said," which I would argue does warrant further explanation. What in particular do you disagree with? If the post you're disliking is opinion-based, what is your own opinion on this matter? And so forth.

So, for this reason, I'm more or less in support of this update, as I do believe it will foster more discussion. Now, when you disagree with someone, you're forced to explain yourself, and contrary arguments are exactly what sparks discussion. At the moment, too many tankers are responding to posts/threads with a simple downvote, which shows how much support this post/thread has, but doesn't do much more.
